The breakfast was good which is unusual for me because i am on a very restricted diet. The staff as always are among the best I've encountered. They make an effort to get to know customers and work very hard. I travel a great deal for business so am in many hotels and can compare experiences. The hotels in South Bend at the same level (e.g. Courtyard Marriott) have nowhere near the level of service and attention to things like traffic in and out of the property. The GM seems to run a tight ship and people seem to be working together well. The property is very clean. The gym and laundry areas, which are pretty important to business travelers, are clean and functional.

Wanted to get away from Chicago and be close to Michigan. Wanted to stay somewhere cheap but not seedy and dirty. This was probably the cleanest motel I’ve stayed at. Everything was clean and tidy upon getting in the room. The motel was quiet inside and we slept pretty well. We would stay again.

there were a few birthday parties going on and lots of unsupervised kids screaming and running around the pool. lots of mold growing in the pool area ceiling dripping water off the ceiling. later in the evening the fire alarm was pulled by a child or burnt popcorn not really sure what happened. that was scary!

Went for Norte Dame football game. The college experience is awesome! The entire campus was beautiful and memories for a lifetime. Everyone there so friendly. Best places to eat are all around the college. Yes there is a lot of low income areas close by, but that is this entire country.

Very clean downtown, river walks are nicely kept. Lots to do and places to visit, everyone we met seemed friendly enough and the restaurants were good. (PEGGS for breakfast was great). Beautiful homes around the area we stayed. Notre Dame was well worth visiting.

This is a great place to stay if you're going to a Notre Dame Football game. It's about 15 minutes from campus, clean , comfortable, has a nice breakfast & very reasonably priced. We will definitely stay here again!

It was a good choice to make South Bend our overnight choice as we enjoyed walking around Notre Dame, especially the Grotto and Basilica which we were fortunate to get inside.
We enjoyed dining at the Morris Inn on the campus - and wish we had also stayed there -
Bathroom floor needed a good scrubbing. Specially in the corners under sink area. Stains on bedspread. Massive parking lot potholes. Massive litter accumulation behind building. Staff would walk the parking lot for exercise. They could easily carry garbage bag and keep property free of garbage and still get exercise. We had to retrieve new towels for 2nd day stay. We returned soiled towels to check in counter. Needed toilet paper and Kleenex. Retrieved it at counter. Basically no housekeeping staff. Had to dump own room garbage.
Great recent renovations, with new beds, rugs, furnishings, etc., yet still has a bit of the old charm (when it was the Waterford Lodge). The room is very comfortable. Has microwave, refrigerator, counter for munchies. Good location to get to both South Bend proper and Mishawaka. The staff is really superb and welcoming. The indoor pool was perfect after a long drive. They ask that you reserve your hour for the pool, and frankly, that was great--I could relax without other people's kids in the pool. We'll be back!
The restaurant (Rohs?) serves outstanding food, it’s like fine dining for a reasonable price.
Shame the full menu wasn’t on for food or drinks and we weren’t allowed outside so got really loud and cold. (Always seems to happen to us)

I had no line s the room wasn't clean the floor was dirty. No towels no shower curtain no blanket or pillow cases floor was filthy. Nothing

Hotel staff is kind, attentive and very reasonable. Hotel lobby was updated and very comfortable for gathering and respite. The new J cafe is fast with great pastries (esp gluten free muffins, delicious Peet's coffee, and a few seating options for those that need it).
I really enjoyed my stay at Varsity Clubs. The room was huge, breakfast was tasty, and the staff members were very professional and nice. I would stay again and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting South Bend-Mishawaka area.
Good food. But I booked this reservation through Bookings. Com which included a breakfaast free. But the hotel charged me for my wife and me. Our bill was suppose to be $412. Bute Hilton Garden South Bend, In charged me $448.
Worth a detour to South Bend. Staff was awesome - very kind, to us and dog. By Staff I mean the folks in the laundry, the lady at the bar, the front desk staff - night and day - everyone. Could not have felt more welcomed.
This was such a nice hotel and so close to downtown South Bend and Notre Dame University. The receptionist was absolutely wonderdul. We missed the famous breakfast but will be back in September and will try it then.
Feels like a newly built hotel. Rooms have a new design that is very functional. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of options and the breakfast area had great seating.
The night desk worker who checked us in and helped us with the wifi was a diamond in the rough. She was a genuine pleasure, very hospitable. She was the best part of our stay at the hotel.
