Prices are very high for lodging and food. Compared to Albuquerque it has a very touristic feel and the attitude of people is much less friendly or sincere. For a short visit or to see art and cultural venues it is worth a visit.
But I appreciate the low-key vibe of Taos more and Albuquerque has many attractions and is a bit overlooked relative to Santa Fe and offers a lower cost, friendlier city for longer stays that won't break the bank.

Santa Fe is a great city to visit.
Santa Fe is a great city to visit. One of the most walkable downtowns of anywhere in the country. Plenty of great dining, shopping, and sights to see. There are artists and galleries everywhere, if that's your thing!

Santa Fe is a great getaway spot.
Santa Fe is a great getaway spot. Everything is walkable if you stay within a half mile of the Plaza. Food is excellent and a wide variety of restaurants offer interesting food and drink. The farmer's market provides an opportunity to buy food and drinks and see artists and other vendors. Multiple museums operate on a single ticket entry, so you can pay more to have access to several locations during your stay.
Hiking trails can be found just out of town. Bandelier National Monument is about 40 minutes away and a must-see. The walking path along Alameda is very nice (and accessible) if you just want to stroll along a stream in town.
We had delicious meals at Tia Sophia, La Boca, Zacatlan, Sazon, the Compound, and Cafe Pasquale.
The multitude of galleries and shops offer lots of interesting things to see - from antique decor to modern art. There are jewelry stores everywhere, but the vintage ones are really interesting. The multi-vendor barn adjacent to the farmer's market held a lot of great items sold by interesting folks who were friendly and helpful.
Ikonink Coffee, a bustling and hip place north of the Railyards also has good food and pastry items on the menu. Mud Hut by Agapo was a smaller place, great coffee with grab and go food items where we could sit and chat and listen to the locals.

The trip a gift for my 70th birthday, something special and I have always wanted to see Santa Fee for the art & jewelry. It can not be beat. Took a guided tour with Ana Pacheco, who has a long history in Santa Fee.
She was great! Incredible history & knowledge. Worth paying for a guided tour. But I have to say Ana is a local Historian. Definitely worth it and we hit the gold mine with Ana.

Santa Fe steeped in history, lots to see.
Santa Fe steeped in history, lots to see. Loved hiking at Bandelier Nat Monument & visiting nearby Los Alamos. Very enjoyable trip with something for everyone. Shout out to Plaza Cafe (south) with unique & delicious choices (we just kept going back there several times). Loretta Chapel & St. Francis Cathedral are must sees. Great weather & scenery.
Love the southwest charm of the room especially the kiva fireplace!
The room was clean and had adequate space.
The staff were friendly and informative. When we checked in, we were given their top picks of New Mexican restaurants. And their recommendations turned out to be the best meals of our trip.
They offer a daily complimentary breakfast. Large selection of good breakfast fares including a burrito bar!
Will definitely stay there again on our next visit to beautiful historic Santa Fe!
Great location near the Plaza in Santa Fe. We've stayed at Fort Marcy Suites several times and now have our favorite spots around the location, so it's great for us. Comfortable lodgings, great kitchen with all the amenities, responsive employees-for instance, I dropped an earring down the drain and they had someone over within the hour to get it out for me. Fort Marcy Suites is the only place we ever want to stay when we go to Santa Fe.
The room was absolutely beautiful, with really nice Santa Fe-style architecture. Very cosy, overall! The location is nice too, with good restaurants in the immediate area and the Santa Fe Plaza area being about 15 minutes walk away. Also, the hosts are *really* nice, accomodating, nice to talk to and full of information about the area.
Nice old Santa Fe feel in the lounge, restaurant, bar and room. Great southwestern paintings in the hallways.
Good New Mexican breakfasts and dinners, although a bit overpriced. Staff very friendly and easy to deal with.
Also there was a free shuttle service to the Santa Fe plaza which we did not use since we had a car.
The room was spacious and clean. We decided to stay for the third night as we wanted to spend more time in Santa Fe and Taos. Breakfast was adequate. The young male receptionist in the mornings was polite and helpful. The reception had lots of maps and leaflets of the area.
