Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favourite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.
The city’s most recognisable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. The original Spanish mission, the first in California, has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighbourhoods.
The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbour seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.
Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodation encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

San Diego is so geographically diverse is so many things to do and go. The freeways are easy to use . The Mexican food and seafood is amazing. The beaches are beautiful, especially in Pacific Beach it’s so scenic . The restaurants are amazing shelter Island is a beautiful place to eat and to take a walk. The food is so delicious so many different cultures to choose from . Use Yelp to guide you to where go. San Diego can be very expensive plan your trip ahead of time. I would avoid Tour season April and September is the best time to come to San Diego to avoid the crowd .

A fabulous place!
A fabulous place! Perfect first visit and I hope to have many more. The people are friendly, the food is delicious and so varied and the sunsets and sunrises are so dreamy. Great places to eat: Copper Top Coffee, Oscar’s Mexican Seafood, Board and Brew and really anything near Pacific Beach!

San Diego is fun for everyone.
We did the US Midway tour, US Marine Museum, Whale Watching and visited Downtown, Little Italy, Gaslamp district. Was fun, great places to eat at and enjoy the weather and coast. It is pricey, so if you're willing to take a hit to the wallet, it is an awesome place to be.

Due to our booked airbnb accommodation being disgusting we only got the one day there but we went to the USS Midway museum, this was fantastic and not to be missed, the Doubletree hotel was good all things right, only downside the resteraunt was extortionate prices and really spoiled the stay. Had to go out to eat but there was a small mall with nice shops and an assortment of eating choices about 5 minutes walk away, saved the day.

San Diego have really worked hard on making it a tourist-friendly city. Their tourist web site (SanDiego.org) has a lot of really good suggestions about what to do and see in the city and the surrounding area. We stayed in La Jolla which is a nice small town but has easy access via transit to the city. If you are in a car, there appears to be a lot of free parking for various attractions (e.g .Balboa Park, Old Town) and you can park for free in the Old Town and get to downtown San Diego in about 15 minutes using their excellent tram system. If you are driving, you can travel out to Coronado and enjoy the State Park there. Also worthwhile is a trip to the desert on Hwy 52.

Actually , my target was to attend the American Academy of Dermatology at the convention center.
I went to Lajolla, Balboa park and Old town. Any extra times was for shopping. It was winter time.
I used public transportation, the hotel is easily accessible through the green line trolley and bus 88 and the old town station.I used the airport electric bus free of charge to old town bus and bus # 88 from there.
This is an older style motel that is kept in excellent condition. Checking in and out was friendly and efficient. Parking is convenient. Rooms are large, comforable, impeccably clean with good climate control. The location on San Diego's "Hotel Circle" is reasonably convenient to restaurants and attractions. The property is really well maintained with amazing attention to detail. The on-site restaurant is good for breakfast. This is a very good place to stay in San Diego at a reasonable price.
The location is very good, 20/25 min by foot from the GasLamp quarter and Little Italy (the vivid areas of the city). There is also restaurants around (a good ramen restaurant, empanadas, mexican food...) if you dont wanna walk too much.
The bed is comfortable, the shower is hot and the room is spacious enough. Plus comparing the price to the other motels/hotels around, this one is relatively cheap and you have what you would expect.
We often stay at this hotel. It's the best deal in San Diego. It's not upscale or fancy, but always exceptionally clean and just a very nice cozy room. The grounds and common areas are very nice, the rooms are large some with kitchenettes and all with fridge and micro and dining table. This time our room had new carpet which was nice. Also, we didn't book a room with a kitchenette, but we got one :-).
The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast is ok but nothing special. The hotel itself is situated on the main road and has an adequate bus connection to the Old Town Transit Centre where this is the main transport of buses, trams and the Amtrax train. If you prefer to walk from here to the hotel, (which I did) took me 19 minutes. The centre of San Diego takes only a few minutes by tram.
The property was centrally located in the heart of downtown San Diego. There are sooo many things within walking distance and it’s less than 1 mile to the airport. The facility is always spotless. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is of good quality. I also loved the valet service offered at the hotel, it took a lot of the anxiety out of trying to figure out where to park.
Good hotel for a good price among the others in this zone, you can take the bus just in front of the hotel. There is a Mall (Mission Valley) 10 min away walking from Days inn
I really enjoyed my experience in this place, and in the maps it seems far away from San Diego downtown, but you can move by bus / trolley around San Diego, in 20 / 30 min. Pretty cool.
I live in San Diego and have friends that stay at hotels in Mission Valley/Hotel Circle area. This hotel is super expensive - they charged an extra booking fee at check in. Anything from their "market" was 5x more expensive than other hotel markets/restaurants in the same area. The landscaping and pool was beautiful - good for kids but super expensive!
Your hotel is a 5 star for the value. The location and price was great. Seriously the breakfast was nice and the service very friendly. You are about a 5 minute drive to the beach and basically it is a straight line to it. I will book again when visiting San Diego.
Because of fog our flight to London was late so that we missed the connection flight to San Diego.
The hotel was kind enough let us check in a day later without any charge for the missed night.
All in all a very good experience.
The location of hotel is perfect. Easy and fast check in. The staff was great. Very nice and friendly. Enjoyed our stay. Will return to hotel when we come back to San Diego. Worth the money spent. Great rate. Not expensive at all.
It is a great hotel with a perfect location in the downtown San Diego.
The gym is spacious and well equipped.
There is a relatively cheap garage just across the street.
The check-in and check-out were super quick and easy.
Perfect hotel a couple of steps away from the beach. The beds and towels always smell clean. The toiletts and the kitchen are being cleaned several times a day. Overall it is the coolest hostel in San Diego.
Great hotel for convenience to the airport. Easy location for short Ubers to the beaches or down town with water sports available like jet ski's - great way to see San Diego from the water 😊
I was born in San Diego and have always loved this hotel, it’s near the Gaslamp area and has lots of places to eat near by. The hotel is beautiful and the room was small but nice and clean.
very nice hotel in downtown San Diego.
staff was really nice
hotel was clean.
for breakfast I would suggest to put maybe some vegetables, but everything was really good.
lovely
The style of the hotel was nice, specifically the bathrooms. The location was also decent, as I was able to walk to Little Italy, the San Diego Zoo, and downtown San Diego.
Love the hard rock hotel in San Diego! Great location at Harbor and fifth Avenue. In the gaslamp district. Aesthetics and furnishings are very interesting unique and nice.
