It was clean, didn’t smell like smoke, had an indoor pool. every single staff person was helpful and friendly. it was slightly farther away than other hotels in the area but only barely and a much better value. There is secure affordable parking.

I have dietary restrictions. The banana was nice. I am also 6foot3 and got a kick out of the incredibly low ceilings. We had a great time.

The innkeepers were beyond helpful and kind. They made wonderful recommendations on restaurants, museums and attractions. We will most definitely stay here when we return to Salem.
Most of the attractions are within walking distance.

The Salem Witch trial exhibits were very interesting for history lesson.
Red's Diner is highly recommended for breakfast.
Do not miss the Essex Peabody Museum , very large and impressive and the Chinese House is not to be missed.

Such an interesting historical gem of a city.
Such an interesting historical gem of a city. Lots to explore, contemplate and take in. You absorb the witchy vibe in a cool way, but then keep exploring the museums, waterfront, parks and fantastic shops and restaurants. Like a mini-Boston, but more focused.

Salem is a great little city with so much historical significance, beautiful old homes and a fantastic museums. If you have the time, it is well worth a side trip.
Mercy Tavern is also a great spot, lovely food, cocktails and staff.
I wanted to go to Salem since I was a child, 30 years later I finally made it. You won't be disappointed.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so..
The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.
We liked the modern look and colorful bathroom. The bed was very comfortable if a bit lower to the floor than the one we sleep on at home, but that was fine. The location could not be better. We walked out the front door of the hotel right onto the brick concourse where a lot of shops and restaraunts are. There's also a restaurant and bar right as you walk in the front door, though we did not eat or drink there. It was fairly popular and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Staff was friendly and eagerly helpful.
Beautiful hotel for a Hampton Inn (not my experience with other HI hotels). Great variety for breakfast. Room was a good size for 3 people. We had a corner room and it was so bright but had good room darkening shades for night. Parking was very convenient - could self-park or use their valet. I just did self-park and it was sufficient. Could also come and go as we pleased - no waiting for a valet to bring the car around. Location was great - walking distance to all the sites in Salem.
The room we picked was GORGEOUS!!! We love that The Cove has very cool themed rooms (we stayed in the Under the Bay room)!! Also the staff were all very friendly and super communicative! They even got my friend cupcakes for his birthday!! Overall a very comfy, visually stunning, fun time! The art in the room was so captivating that we almost didn't want to leave the hotel to go do things in town! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Room was good size and two comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious and included. I mean breakfast, not a muffin or box of cereal...Wow! The staff were so nice and accommodating to us which isn't always the case. Another B&B in the area cannot touch the hospitality that we received here, and I paid quite a bit more to stay at their establishment. Would hands down recommend Salem Inn!
The room was insanely large. I have never been in a room so big. It had 2 walk in closets. 2 queen size beds. a sitting area. This room was just bigger then I had ever seen a hotel room be. We liked the large room, the quite hotel, the pet friendly floor, the fact everything was in 2 minutes of walking out the door of the hotel. The food was good, serve friendly.
Such an incredibly beautiful house to stay in. So many special details, trinkets and artworks to peruse throughout the home. Rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Some really lovely breakfast options to choose from in the mornings. Location was fantastic. Would love to stay again if I ever make it back to Salem.
There’s no breakfast available, however there were restaurants close by. The staff is available by text every day. They reach out several times a day. We prefer to decline housekeeping in hotels due to the electronics we travel with. This was not an issue with the staff. We would definitely stay here again.
The Merchant is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are exceptionally appointed, and the location couldn't have been more perfect. Lovely having snacks available on each level. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Salem who is looking for an elevated historic hotel experience.
The hotel was very nice. The bar and bartender were very kind. Plus the drinks were tasty.
First hotel I've stayed in with robes for us to use.Very excellent bonus. Beds were comfortable and so were the pillows. Location was great. Everything we planned to do was in walking distance.
Check in was a breeze and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. We loved the overall atmosphere of the hotel and appreciated the hospitality station near our room. The entire hotel looked very well kept and our room was clean and comfortable.
Fantastic location in the heart of Salem. The property is full of history and we recommend a walking tour to find out more. The staff were amazing and the complementary breakfast was a lovely treat and even the double room was huge.
I loved the location! It was awesome to be able to walk everywhere in Salem easily from the hotel. The room I booked was a small one, but the bed was huge and there was plenty of counter space. I loved the soap products too!
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
the room is very luxurious. some of the best beds and pillows I have ever stayed at, high in toiletries. it was a wonderful hotel. the second oldest in Salem.
