This was the best hotel experience I have ever had...hands down. The management and staff could not have been more helpful, kind and understanding. When they found out we would have to get on the road before we could get breakfast, they packed us a take along selection of breakfast items. If you want to train any future employee on how to offer hospitality...send them to this hotel.

Ruckersville is a great little town, and its location just...
Ruckersville is a great little town, and its location just north of Charlottesville makes it a good place to stay while exploring the area. There are also many wineries nearby. R'ville has all the amenities one may need, including Walmart, CVS, Wendy's, etc., but we were happy to find very good local restaurants such as the Blue Ridge Cafe and Catering (had a really good lunch and dinner here), Rylie's Diner, tucked behind/in the basement of a small strip mall behind Wendy's, for breakfast or lunch (breakfast is wonderful; we went twice!), El Agave for delicious Mexican food, and Vinny's New York Pizza Co. We've also heard that Jack's Shop Kitchen is very good (check for hours). Ruckersville also has a huge number of antique shops; just drive around...you'll find them everywhere!
Nearby Stanardsville has one of the most adorable craft shops I've ever seen. About 10 minutes west of R'ville (Rt. 33 W, then 328 Main Street), you'll find Noon Whistle Pottery in a renovated gas station. Their three floors boast a wide variety of arts and crafts: woven items, paintings and pastels, wood, metal, glass, jewelry, and of course, pottery of many styles. The owners are lovely people (artists) and are happy to help and answer questions.

Just outside of Charlottesville.
Just outside of Charlottesville. Small enough to not be stressful and large enough to get you acclimated to Charlottesville, Washington, D.C., etc. The Blue Ridge Mountain Skyline Drive is just outside of Ruckersville - so incredibly beautiful. Washington, D.C. about 90 minutes away - avoid the hustle and bustle when you are ready to retire for the evening. Close to the presidents homes and other historic venues.
