Wylder Hotel - Tilghman Island, hotel in Oxford

Where a bayside cool retreat awaits: a rebirth of an 1898 original boarding house where watermen ran the docks and crabs were piled high on picnic tables.

The location was very serene and relaxing. We really enjoyed being able to lounge on the grounds without much disturbance or noise. The breakfast was modest with nice ingredients. The rooms were comfortable if a but small.

Oxford is wonderful to visit in season.

Oxford is wonderful to visit in season. Come when restaurants are open and the ferry is operating (April-Nov). Otherwise it's a LONG way to drive to St. Michael's. Avoid the Robert Morris Inn -- the dirtiest room I've had in all of my 65 years of living. Doc's on the waterfront is a fabulous place to enjoy the sunset - but it is only open during the prime seasons.

A sleepy little town with lots of charm right on the water.

A sleepy little town with lots of charm right on the water. Away from but very accessible to the hustle-bustle of St Michaels, which is just a short drive and/or ferry-boat ride away. Plan to spend one day exploring Oxford, then use it as a base from which to see the region. Morris Inn is a great spot for a romantic, upscale dinner (sit out on the front porch), and Doc's Sunset Grill is one of our favorite on-the-water laid-back eateries.

    Quaint little historic town.

Quaint little historic town. Picturesque neighborhoods that you can bike or walk around through. Very safe. Beach/Water had a TON of jelly fish in the evening though...be aware! Not much to do (few restaurants and virtually no stores). Drive over to St. Micheal is about 20-25 minutes. Ferry over to St. Micheal is $15 each way.

The bed was so uncomfortable we had to flip it 180° and sleep on it sideways. Air conditioner filter was filthy. No TV in the room. Smoke detector continued to chirp so had to refund our stay at 9 o’clock in the evening and drove all night long to get home at 4:30In the morning. Ordered a burger well done and came back to me raw even after sending it back to the kitchen.

Did some antique and book store shopping in this quaint little postcard community. If you like boats, check out the many boatyards in the area. Only regret, we visited after Labor Day, and some restaurants closed or went to off season schedules. The restaurant, Salter's tavern, that is connected to the Robert Morris Inn, was open and not to be missed!

Oxford is pretty much of a ghost town, but very convenient for meeting our cousins in St. Michaels. There is scant shopping in Oxford, but the Treasure Chest is a lovely store - alas, only open till 5. Oxford is quiet and the views are breathtaking. We always eat at the Robert Morris Inn, which is great.

We enjoyed a lovely getaway! Beautiful property! The owners are very attentive and helpful. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The beach area is so peaceful and perfect to escape the craziness of the city. The welcome bag with a personalized note was much appreciated :) Highly recommend Sandaway, can’t wait to come back soon!

We were in a ground floor unit with a water view. The unit was quite large compared to a hotel room. The bathroom has 2 sinks and an extremely large shower. The lawn are had chairs and lounges. The landscaping was nice and it's a very quiet location. The owners are very generous and left Easter baskets at each door.
