FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

Amazing city with great vibes, music, bars and entertainment options. There are musicians on every street corner, the party goes 24/7, with people dancing on Bourbon street all night and overall happy, chilled vibe. Great food, the French District offers a lot to see, you can do shopping in the outlet store. Definitely a must-see location in the US!

What I liked most was the variety of authentic foods, the shops there had all the various souvenirs that reflected the city, the trolley rides were accessible, landmarks were posted, free maps everywhere, and helpful street people. Of course the undesirables in the street were unavoidable but not bothersome. Didn't walk after dark. Would have been nice if some open air jazz clubs were close by within walking distance. Perhaps more foot police presence at night would create a safety factor for walking. The weather was perfect. The river boat experience was as expected.

New Orleans is a city with a rich story. There are many things to see and experience. Food is great and you have many choices. Very easy to get around, as in any big city, you need to be aware of your surroundings. Also, I found out to be very inclusive and diverse. I've been twice for work. My husband and I thought it was the perfect spot because it is walking distance from the French Quarter and Jackson Square, but was far enough away that we could escape back to the hotel if we needed a break from all the things that were going on. It is also about a 15 minute walk to The National WWII Museum, which is one of the main reasons why we stayed at this Best Western. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan on staying there again when we return to New Orleans!

The hotel met all our basic needs, was in a great central location. Felt safe with the staff around and security guards. Right near the st.Charles street cart. And not a far walk into the garden district. 25 min walk to the French quarter and Mississippi River. Rooms were good size, beds were comfy and clean. Was nice they had coffee and tea at all times. And some free options for breakfast, juices, milk, cereal and hot water. Staff was nice and helpful. Pool was great. And nice outdoor courtyard area.

My room was very spacious, modern and comfortable and both room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The location on Canal street is on the edge of the French Quarter in a quieter area but the popular (and noisy) bars and restaurants are only a few blocks away. There is a streetcar stop outside the hotel so it is easy to get around. You have to request room servicing the night before. I actually preferred this since it avoids being disturbed when you don't need the room cleaned.

This hotel is a great location for visiting the French Quarter of New Orleans. The valet parking was very convenient albeit somewhat expensive at $48/24hr period - although this seems to be the 'standard' price in New Orleans - there was no extra charge for coming and going as many times as you like. The 'standard' room was fine. It had a safe and a small fridge. The self-service buffet breakfast was great - we were given complimentary breakfasts each morning.

No cable tv, no phone, and no got water and no notification that parking is not available on the property. A third party parking option for $30 + dollars a day is your only option. Overall, our stay was ok. The New Orleans Marriott is quite perfectly located in NOLA, so we opted for this hotel. The price for our stay was rather high (>300$pPpN), but we were willing to pay it. Our room was big, clean, and overall good. Our room was facing the other tower, so we mainly looked at the other building, but were also able to see a bit of the French Quarter.
