Catfish . The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The pictures on site looked much nicer than in person and the location was in a very random area not near anything.

I lived in Mission Viejo 30 years ago. The city has grown quite a bit since then, but I found it still to be beautifully landscaped, and to have wide surface streets in good repair. It's a short drive to San Juan Capistrano, which has the famous Mission.

The hotel property is conveniently located to other highways, shopping and good restaurants. The charming, old-world lobby offers their guests comfortable sofas and cushioned chairs to lounge on. The bedding in the rooms were nice. The pool was very lovely and inviting. The hotel staff was knowledgeable about how you can pay toll road fees when you did not make arrangement with your car rental company, or need to pay them on your own. Enjoyed the breakfast which included an option to "cook to order".

If you are planning to just visit the beaches or even go to one of the main attractions in San Diego, this location would be perfect for you. We were not too far from all of our favorite places to eat, close to Irvine Spectrum mall which is amazing, great for movies. Close to all our favorite beaches from Dana Point (Baby Beach), Laguna, Newport, Huntington beach etc. Just about an hour away from San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, Sea World etc. My family really loved this area and will definitely stay in this area again. Thank you!

Mission Viejo is not really a city to see.
Mission Viejo is not really a city to see. It's a commuter city and can be used as a base to travel around west coast. The accommodation there is cheaper. Places you can visit when staying in Mission Viejo: Disneyland, LA, San Diego, etc. There aren't really much to do in the city itself.

I liked the warmth with the Christmas tree and fireplace roaring as we walked in on a cold and rainy night. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The suites were spacious, clean and comfortable. I especially was grateful that they allow pets!! The breakfast is the real deal and you have a selection of yogurt, potatoes, bacon, sausages, eggs, bagels, breads, juices etc! If you went out to breakfast for two persons, you just saved yourselves 35-40$ ! Will definitely rebook with Ayres Hotel!
The assortment of breakfast items was great; lots of selection, fresh fruit, oatmeal, breads for toasting, DIY waffles, etc. Delicious coffee. Clean service area. The staff throughout the hotel was friendly, and helpful. The hotel is well-maintained, clean hallways, elevators, etc. Comfortable bed, spotless bathroom, lots of fluffy towels. Easy freeway access and to other shops (Costco, BevMo, In-N-Out). Quiet location despite proximity to fwy. Recommend and would stay there again.
Stayed for an event on the OC coast. This was only 30 minutes away and priced more reasonably than the expensive hotels on the Laguna beach area.

We frequently travel to OC to visit our kids & have stayed in several different hotels. This will be our new place from now on! Super reasonable, beautiful rooms, beautiful breakfast that’s included….and COMFY beds!! Also, the location is perfect. Close to the freeway AND In & Out!

Excellent value for the money. The common areas as well as the rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. Breakfast was definitely a bit better than your standard “continental” offerings.
The breakfast was awesome. It was full continental style. It was not pre packed breakfast as many hotels did for some time due to COVID. The location is also good: many restaurants nearby.
Hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. Large room. Reception staff was friendly. Hot fresh breakfast was nice. Didn't have time to use pool but liked knowing it was available.
