Manhattan is a quintessential Midwestern college town.

Manhattan is a quintessential Midwestern college town. The town wraps around the university on 3 sides and college activities are integral to the activities of the town. Manhattan has a nice walkable Main street along with a student-oriented commercial district across the street from the university. K-State is a full on fanatical for their sports teams and the fans and alumni far and wide show up for their teams. There are also some nice big city amenities like bistros, brewpubs and speakeasys. Manhattan is definitely worth a weekend trip to take in a sporting event and explore the surrounding area.

    Chen Chinese restaurant was great!

Chen Chinese restaurant was great! They were very friendly and helpful. There are many nice places to eat. We went to a KState baseball game and had a lovely time. It is a very nice stadium. KState also has a garden that you can tour as well as a nice zoo. The shopping mall is close by too.

We first came to Manhattan, Kansas when our daughter began studying at Kansas State University, but we have fallen in love with the town and the people. Hiking in the Flint Hills is wonderful and the people are so warm and friendly. Lots of great restaurants too. Perfect weekend get a way. Perhaps go to a football game, visit the sunflower fields and tour the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

Only there one night, so no real review.

Only there one night, so no real review. Hotel was next to college bar scene, "Aggieville," lots of Mexican restaurants, bars advertising tequila shots, etc. Found a decent place called Nico's Little Italy within easy walking distance. All other places packed with college kids. Didn't want to pay the hotel's $15 required valet rate, so parked in a municipal garage a few blocks away. Free, fine, no problems. K State campus nice for a stroll, and the neighborhood across the street from the hotel was a typical college-student neighborhood, rental properties in various states of repair/disrepair, but shaded streets, pleasant walking. Liked the town very much.

In town to visit K-State. Easy enough to navigate.

In town to visit K-State. Easy enough to navigate. There was quite a bit of construction but still able to get around. Some areas of town seem a little depressed and others not. It was summer, so probably not as active as it usually is when college is in session. Seems like a college town, lots of bars. Food was okay but wasn't in town long, there was a Starbucks. Friendly people though!

Didn’t even have the breakfast. My parents could not get into their room ALL weekend (they were issued 11 room keys total, I believe). The only person they have on staff to do all the maintenance work and “clean” the rooms decided to break the outside window in order to get in. My parents’ belongings were left in the room unattended. The staff didn’t seem to know how to properly communicate with each other. The manager was “unable” to come to the hotel in person so we had to do everything over the phone.

Staff was absolutely awesome. Helpful and friendly. My room was very clean and had all the basic amenities such as microwave, fridge, and even a jacuzzi tub. The free breakfast was a nice addition which lots of hotels no longer offer. It was basic but doable and appreciated.

I love the rooms. They’re always nice and clean and updated. The common area has a pool, hot tub, 2 pool tables and always very welcoming! There are bathrooms located near the pool which is always a plus. They also allow up to 2 pets which is great for pet owners.
