We arrived but received a wrong room number so that the door would not open. Room was already occupied. We called the manager and got a new room. Room was clean and bed was comfy. It was a bit cold that night and the heater always turned off itself after 20 minutes. The pipe in the bathroom sink was clogged so the water stayed in there. Coffeemashine in the room.

A gem of a place, only stayed one night passing through the area but wish we had booked a few nights and took in local wineries and walks. Plenty to do, amazing countryside. The hotel also had lots of games available, the pool and hot tub were very clean and pleasant. BBQs located for free use too. Fabulous place.

We stay in Julian twice per year..once for my wife's birthday and the other for our anniversary. It's our favorite destination when we need to get away from home for a few days. Wonderful town to visit with lots of friendly people.

Julian is a easy drive from San Diego.
Julian is a easy drive from San Diego. It is a nice, clean little mountain town. It has many shops with unique goods that you don't see many places. The one serious drawback is that there is only one go to sit-down restaurant. It is Italian. One major drawback is they do not accept reservations. However they do have a system using a Qcode in which you can be notified when your table will be ready in a specified time frame. Our wait was only about 1/2 hr notice of when our table for 6 was ready. Just don't sit by the front door. The cold wind is not pleasant each time the door opened. The door does not close by itself and most people didn't close it after entering.

Julian is a super cute town.
Julian is a super cute town. There's a lot to do there in town. There are some great options that are no more than 3 miles away from the actual town of Julian and these establishments have co-opted the Julian town name for their locations. In the fall (September) they have an Apple Days Festival which is probably the highlight for the town. It's very crowded and lots of family friendly activities going on. The apple pie is amazing.

Julian is a sweet little town packed with history.
Julian is a sweet little town packed with history. We had spent the day in Borego Springs looking at the desert sculptures (worth the trip) and enjoyed the mountain pass drive into Julian. Do the mine tour--the guide was wonderful and the tour interesting. Wonderful dining, especially the Italian place near the Robinson Hotel--another good find.

I love my yearly trip to Julian!
I love my yearly trip to Julian! It’s a wonderful place with small town vibes. It’s adorably quaint and the people are always friendly. The food is great and the apples and pies are definitely the star of the show. The scenic drive is great and there are plenty of cute places to stop off and enjoy. My favorite store to pick up great gifts is The Warm hearth, followed by a nice lunch at Julian cafe. I always end my trip with a nice slice of pie at either Moms pie shop or Julian apple pie company. I always look forward to my trip to Julian and can’t wait to return.
The property sits across the road from Lake Cuyamuca and we enjoyed a nice walk around the lake. They are also a short 10 minute drive to Julian where there were some nice shops, restaurants, and of course apple pie! The hotel is Buddhist themed and offers classes in yoga, meditation, and the like, as well as massages, sauna, etc. All of these are optional and the staff didn't try to push us into participating in any of those things. The staff was very accommodating and I would definitely consider staying there again.
We have been faithful customers of Booking.com, for many years. This year we had at least 10 reservations with them in november for our yearly californian thanksgiving trip. Unfortunately we were bounced off for one reservation by the hotel, in Yucca Valley, without legitimate reason, and left one night out in the cold.
Booking.com has totally disregarded our complaint and proclaimed their irresponsibility. Consequently we shall no longer share our experiences at other facilities, as we gladly did in the past.
Convenient location from Downtown Julian and William Heist County Park. Restaurants, a cider bar, and neat antique store in close proximity. Room was overall clean, easy self check-in process. Property and location felt safe. We liked the free Keurig coffee in our room! Luckily we had quiet neighbors (which always just comes down to luck when your staying at a hotel) so we had a peaceful night rest.
This is more of a B&B rather than a hotel. The decor is shabby chic - furniture very worn out, although that is probably on purpose, some furniture was broken. The retreat is big on mindfulness and meditation but it felt like staying at someone's home rather than a professionally managed property.
Our recent stay in Julian was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and breathtaking views of the serene lake. The room with its lake view was simply spectacular, offering us the perfect backdrop for a tranquil retreat.
Starting from the beautiful decor, incredible atmosphere, high vibes of the resort and the surroundings, and ending with the lovely service and delicious food - everything exceeded my expectations. This is the most exceptional hotel I have ever visited.
Amazing home turned hotel in the beautiful forest surrounding Julian California.
The staff was super helpful and the room was large and clean and super comfortable.
Free coffee and the VIEWS!
Stars and coffee...great combo!
Loved everything. Access to so many different places- Julian, Borrego, Ocotillo. Reni is attentive and helpful and she thinks of everything. We felt at home. Reni is so kind and wonderful to talk with.
Didn’t even get to meet the person in charge of the hotel, due to only being able to be there at night but he made it easy to get my key and explained the process of everything which was very helpful
Very comfy and hometown feeling. Fit the aesthetic of Julian and loved staying in town close to all the shops and restaurants! The lodge was quiet and the staff was extraordinary!
