The Prison three hour tour. Extreme interesting.
The Prison three hour tour. Extreme interesting. Didn’t seem like three hours at all. Would go again! The tour at the Capital. Could have stayed and looked at the painting on the walls of the Senate Lounge for a long time. Gorgeous and full of Missouri history.

My wife and I enjoyed the State Capital area.
My wife and I enjoyed the State Capital area. The Capital outside building area and grounds have all been refurbished and look amazing! A new walkway has been added just behind the water fountains and water sculptures on the Missouri River side of the Capital building. It is a beautiful walkway guiding you to a new park and the Missouri River's edge.
There are many three-hour free parking spaces back there too that you can park in easily. This was our third trip to the Capital over the last four years when we visited Missouri from Tucson Arizona.
I encourage you to take the time to see the free State Museum exhibits inside the main capital building. It is very nice and worth the 60-90 minutes you will spend exploring it.

Our room was 59degrees. It is winter, not summer.
Our room was 59degrees. It is winter, not summer. After 2 hours the temp went up only 6 degrees. Called down to desk to tell them about room temperature. They did come right away and switched the air conditioning to heat. This was done by the maintenance guy that had to change it by getting into the ceiling. Why was this not done prior to booking the room and checking to see if the heating was working properly? After waiting about an hour and room still cold, called again to front desk. Ended up we switched to another room, they brought us more blankets and a heater. This room the thermostat was not digital. Only low, medium or high so didn’t know the exact temp of room. When we left the next morning it was toasty warm in there. Upgrade of the heating/air conditioning is much needed.

Spacious City. I learned that Missouri ( St. Louis) was the location of the first World Chess Tournament. There were a couple of other things I learned about St. Louis while in Jefferson City, but it was not information about Jefferson City! Jefferson City was eerily quiet and empty. My first time and probably my last.
We ate at a Burger King, and no one responded at the drive-thru. It was a Tuesday evening, and the person said, "There's only three of us."
We were passing through, but this is DEFINITELY NOT a destination spot. I wouldn't even recommend it as a stop-over. Choose another city (like Columbia).

We were there for my son's Judo Competition.
We were there for my son's Judo Competition. The restaurant options was great. Bandanas was our choice on this trip. Wonderful food! Walking around the downtown area was great! Lots of wonderful architecture. I found a beautiful hidden area, Blue Star Memorial. It was almost like a smaller Arlington Cemetery. I was quite impressed to see that, a little saddened that some of the trees were "eating" some of the headstones. That's is a bit of a disgrace to the soliders buried there.

Jefferson City is a pretty town, manageable to get around in by car, and we enjoyed lunch at Sweet Smoke BBQ - really good. The capitol building is visible from many places and the Missouri River is nearby. Pleasant neighborhoods and friendly people make this a great place to visit.
I was pleased that the staff let us check in early. It is in a great location to explore Jefferson City. The facility was clean. The young man at the check in was so polite and helpful. I was very impressed.
Hotel location was good for our needs because it was close to the hospital and surgery center.
The room was clean and comfortable.
Hotel personal is freindly.
