The National Hotel, hotel in Jamestown

Built in 1859, this historic Jamestown hotel has its own house ghost and features an on-site restaurant and bar. Rooms include antique furniture and Yosemite National Park is 24 miles away.

The hotel dates back to 1859, so the rooms are small but very comfortable with lots of character and, of course, upgraded. Great location in the middle of the old gold-mining town of Jamestown, within walking distance to eateries if you choose not to eat at the hotel restaurant. Staff were outstanding, so helpful.

Jamestown Railtown Motel, hotel in Jamestown

Offering an outdoor swimming pool, this pet-friendly Jamestown motel is just 15 minutes’ walk away from Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. It offers simply furnished rooms with free Wi-Fi.

The property is older, but the room is clean! We initially didn’t purchase to use the jacuzzi tub, but it was clean so decided to pay for the up grade. The property is quiet, but walkable to Main Street.

Jamestown goes back to the California gold rush.

Jamestown goes back to the California gold rush. It is a small town, about 3000 people, but its small downtown has a lot of character. We stayed at the historic National Hotel right on the main street and we are glad we did. It dates back to 1859. Be sure to checkout the Railway museum about a 15 minute walk from the downtown. They have old engines and rolling stock that have been used in dozens of movies (like High Noon, Unforgiven and Back to the Future III) and TV shows (like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wild Wild West). There are multiple wineries nearby also.

Very fun place to stay! Our room was very comfortable. Good bed. Extremely nice bathroom. It was 108 degrees outside and we were completely comfortable--and I am one of those people who is not happy when the temp is over 72 degrees. Also--nice staff. We ate at the hotel (dinner and breakfast) and both were just fine. I felt like the chef/staff were really trying.

A small, quiet little town which appeared to be closed for most of our stay. We should really have done better research. Sonora is a few minutes up the road and ticked every box but didn't have Jamestown's peace.

our visit to Jamestown was to experience the gold rush days. Staying at the National was part of traveling back in time. The hotel provided an authentic experience. Paired with a gold panning tour, this made the experience worthwhile. Be prepared to not have some of the modern amenities available as this is part of the experience. Did not have a chance to dine at the hotel restaurant, but did find some adequate dining in nearby Sonora.

Pleasant, historical Gold Rush town almost due west of the San Mateo County coast & bay. Small enough to walk around in a few minutes. I ate at the Jamestown Hotel & at the Service Station. Delicious dinners, & the Service Station has a great beer selection. Jamestown's location is perfect for the Sonora Pass, Columbia Historical Park, Highway 49 (the Gold Chain Highway) and Yosemite.

Jamestown was a cute little town. Not much to it.

Jamestown was a cute little town. Not much to it. We had a great meal and a beer at "The Service Station"--would recommend the restaurant highly. We only stayed there prior to a 3 day rafting trip we were taking out of Groveland. Everything in Groveland was VERY expensive. Just was appalled at the accommodations at the Royal Carriage Inn in Jamestown.

Perhaps this hotel had suffered from the pandemic or had a change in ownership but it did not live up to prior ratings. The property needs a proper clean inside and out. We understand the hotel is representative of an historic hotel but we were disappointed overall, dirty carpets, cracked fruit juice glass, bedsheets not pressed etc., at least the bathroom was clean. There was only 1 other guest staying whilst other hotels in Jamestown was full on a bank holiday weekend in the US, says something!

What we loved the most is how friendly all the staff (and also the locals) were and the breakfast buffet was a huge plus for us to help us keep going on during our hikes in Yosemite. Both the hotel and our room was charming, like straight out of a western movie, but with all modern amenities one could need and spotless cleaning. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and Jamestown now has a special place in our hearts :)

The apartment was cozy and cute with modern amenities. Great walk-in shower! The location was very central in the historic town of Jamestown, with old west charm. There were plenty of places to walk to and we enjoyed the local restaurants. Easy check in. A good base if you are checking out the area.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved everything about this place. The employees were amazing 🤩. They helped us find a place that was walking distance from the hotel to eat dinner. They pointed out a place where we could go eat breakfast in the morning. It was nice and quiet.

We love the location it’s just a quick walk to the downtown area where there are a few good restaurants with friendly people. The owners are nice people at this hotel as well. Our room was clean and spacious and cool (getting hot out). It was also quiet! They are pet friendly as well.

They have a fun balcony that overlooks the main drag in the historic district, so you can sit and sip a glass of wine and watch life in Jamestown. The staff was good and very accommodating, as it typical for the area. Genuine, nice people.

check in was fairly easy. I liked that the hotel was close to Railtown. The heater worked fairly well and the shower was nice aside from the bathroom being so small. I liked that there was a freezer as part of the in-room refrigerator.
