FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

Honolulu is not what I expected.

Honolulu is not what I expected. It’s a bit run down with piles of garbage everywhere. Many homeless at the parks nearby and camped out on the sidewalks. I like that the condo was walking distance to the beach and zoo. Starbucks and the ABC stores were very close as well. Parking was busy and I recommended parking on the 5th floor in open area. You can walk up to the condo on the 7 Th floor if elevator is slow or busy.

    The hosts were great.

The hosts were great. They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. We appreciated their efforts to make us feel so welcome. It was close to restaurants, a 7-11 store is practically next door and the beach is within walking distance. Friday night fire works on Waikiki beach were great. Our only complaint was the traffic was extremely noisy at times (emergency vehicles, loud motorcycles and cars). This was mostly doing the evening but we figured this is city life. We're from a rural area and not use to it. However, we would definitely stay at this facility again.

The weather was superb with shops and buildings being air-conditioned. Be careful with taxi drivers though, the one I took from the airport circled around the block before taking me to my hotel, which was a prominent place to which he claimed he didn't know! Use ubers, drivers are friendly. Food courts are great places to eat. Purchase an e-sim so you can always be online, though a lot of places have free wi-fi.

    Loved everything about Honolulu!

Loved everything about Honolulu! Great beaches, food, shopping etc. The Moana is a classic place to stay and some great restaurants (Tommy Bahama, House Without a Key, Dukes, some great Poke Bars for lunch) and many more. Easy walking distance to most shops, bars and restaurants. Downside, tipping is out of control and very much expected even when there is basically no service or average service at best in some places.

This hotel was amazing. It has the best view in the city of Diamond Head. It is steps from the beach, has a lovely restaurant and pool and a modern, feel-good lobby area. We loved the free yoga class and lei making workshop. We did both twice! The staff were all helpful and friendly and a lovely older gentleman at the valet thanked us for our loyalty, as we had stayed at the hotel twice that month (at the start and end of our Hawaii tour). The hotel was definitely as good as the other big names in the area, but at a much more affordable price.

The hotel is very peaceful and stylish and we had an amazing ocean and city view. Room was cleaned daily and the staff has been very attentive and helpful at all times. Breakfast was great and there were different options every day (ignore negative reviews about the lack of cheese and yogurt, because ofcourse that’s not something that Hawaiians eat). The location of the hotel is perfect as it’s one block away from Waikikii beach and next to all the good restaurants and convenience stores. We will definitely be coming back again.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. I cannot fault or have even one negative comment about my room or my stay. I travelled solo and I felt very safe here. The location is perfect and the facilities were above my expectations. My room was a high floor and the view was spectacular. The staff were incredible. Location right opposite the Hilton Hawaiian Resort and 10 minutes from the beach. Plenty of eating places close by. We had a great American breakfast at the Korean restaurant next door, not cheap but then nothing is in Hawaii these days. Hotel is part hotel and part rented apartments. Room service was not available when we were there and I would have appreciated being told when I made the initial booking. Reception and concierge staff were excellent.

I had to come there spontausely as my flight got postponed, so i looked for a not too expensive hotel. This exceeded my expactasions, hawaii isnt cheap and this hotel isnt cheap as well, but it was cheaper than every other hotel for last minute booking in high season. The design of the hotel is really nice, you dont even need a beach cause its so pretty in there. Good bar, food is not expensive. Drinks are good. Wifi is really good. Thank you.

Location was great… lots of stores & food nearby. Waikiki Market 2 blocks away (upstairs) had the best selection. International marketplace is across the street. Only 2 blocks to the beach. Prices are expensive everywhere, but that’s Hawaii these days. Room with kitchenette had everything we needed. The air conditioner worked well. Staff were friendly & willing to help with anything. The location was perfect! The room was comfortable, even if the property is a bit old and had a 70s vibe (but then so is most of Honolulu). I liked that I had a good view of the roadside from my balcony, albeit the sounds of the vehicles were present 24/7. All the basic amenities were amply provided. I love the Hawaiian Tropics shampoo and conditioner. I would stay here again!

On my favorite street in Waikiki, Beachwalk. It’s from the ‘60’s just think the original Hawaii 5-O……but very clean, convenient and so very close to the beach and the main drag Kalakaua Ave. and the price is about as cheapest as you can find.
