Didn't get to experience much except casinos due to the time of year we visited. A lot of places were closed. The town in a typical tourist town, can't really see much of the history the place holds.

My husband and I love Deadwood and have made more than 20 trips in the last 10 years. Lots to do in the area including visits to different museums, hiking, ghost tours, shopping, wine tasting, great food, and gambling. There is still a lot that we have not seen and done, which keeps us making the 10 hour drive 2 times a year.

We went after a snowfall and streets weren't cleaned.
We went after a snowfall and streets weren't cleaned. Some businesses and shops were closed and the sidewalks never got shoveled and were very slippery. Everyone that we met was friendly and fun. There was a lot to do and see, next time we'll stay longer. We'll be back as soon as we can, but in the fall rather than winter.

Lots of fun things to do and see.
Lots of fun things to do and see. Reenactments going on everyday on the main strip. The local saloons were great and filled with great atmosphere! We did not have enough time to do any tours as we were only there one night but we would come back to explore. We happened to walk into an outdoor concert that was awesome! It was very easy to get around on the local bus that travels by the hotels. We went to get some coffee in the morning at the Pumphouse which was filled with beautiful locally made glass art. It is worth a quick stop!

Had breakfast at the hotel inside the Franklin.
Had breakfast at the hotel inside the Franklin. Excellent food. Gambled at Mr. Wu's where they have free hotdogs, drinks and popcorn for players. We were there on a Tuesday night so the town was very quiet. Prefer to go when there are more people having fun.
I, like many people who travel to Deadwood, came for the history. The historic beauty of the hotel is a treasure! Furthermore, our room was VERY historic, retaining most of the original fixtures of the room. As a history buff, it was like dying and going to heaven! The Wild Bill Saloon on the original site of the Old Saloon Number 10 was an excellent marching experience. If you're there for history, don't miss these two gems of Deadwood.
Such a great nice hotel!! The rooms were nice & clean. There was a big lobby to sit in & a cute bar area with food & some slots, billiard room, game room, pool area, fitness center, laundry, gift shoppe, mini golf. A complimentary hot breakfast was available every day. There was a that shuttle to the downtown area which was only about a mile for only $2 a ride. The staff was very nice!!
Perfect location and they had free parking right across the street which was great because parking in Deadwood downtown can be challenging. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.
I loved the historic atmosphere of this hotel. The in-house pizza restaurant was fabulous. The owner made sure everything was to our liking. House blend fresh ground coffee and donuts on Saturday are a great touch.
Quiet, clean and comfortable beds

Boston Pizza is only a few steps away from the hotel
I don't gamble but lots of machines for those that do and free alcohol if you are gambling
The Hotel by Gold Dust has one of the best locations in Deadwood. In addition, the Gold Dust casino and Mavericks restaurant were also great places. If you want to see Deadwood, this is the joint—easy and clean.
Good location for exploring Deadwood. In a quiet neighborhood. They did not have a complementary breakfast but the restaurant attached to the motel served an excellent breakfast.
The hotel was downtown Deadwood and centrally located to other attractions. The staff was awesome and very helpful for getting around. The restaurant on site was good as well.
A beautifully refurbished old hotel. Quiet, warm, comfortable. Almost opulent. Best hotel shower I've ever had. Awesome value for the money. Would definitely stay here again.
I loved the breakfast at the hotel and the cleanliness of the rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Liked that the location was close to downtown Deadwood.
