We enjoyed our trip to Charleston. We did a 2 hour walking tour through the city and it was very interesting. Our tour guide, Fran, with Bulldog Tours was very knowledgeable and passionate about the city. Loved seeing The Battery and all of the beautiful historic homes. These homes have the most beautiful window boxes filled with flowers. We also did a harbor cruise with Harbour Tours which was very informative. We got right up to the USS Yorktown. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from. We went to Rue de Jean and Coast Bar and Grill. Both were located in Hutson's Alley. Good food and reasonable prices. If you love to shop you have to go to King Street. There were many boutiques and high-end shops. Lots of places to eat or stop for a drink or coffee. Charleston is a very walkable city, and we definitely got our miles in! Now that I am more familiar with certain parts of the city I would try other small hotels on our next visit.

Charleston is always a delightful visit.
Charleston is always a delightful visit. The hotel was close to the venue for a wedding (Charlestown Landing at the Legare Waring House). Charlestown Landing, with the gorgeous azaleas and other flowers in full bloom, was breathtaking and the perfect setting for the outdoor wedding under the ancient live oaks that epitomize quintessential Charleston. The hotel was conveniently located to various restaurants (Boxcar Betty's did run out of chicken Friday evening so go early!) in the area and was very easy to maneuver with GPS. Stella's is a great restaurant featuring Greek cuisine and you're hard pressed to find better, fresher oysters (and other delicious fare) than at the Darling Oyster Bar.

It’s a beautiful historic city.
It’s a beautiful historic city. If you are downtown there is a free bus and it is easy to walk to many sites. We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate a special birthday at Halls Chop House, expensive but worth it. Also had a delightful lunch at Magnolia. Everything was crowded and expensive. Reservations at popular places are a must even on weekdays in April!

Plan on doing some walking.
Plan on doing some walking. We enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage tour - an hour long, $50, well worth it, and a great tour guide. Shopping at the Marketplace is a must, 3 blocks of warehouse buildings full of unusual items. The Waterfront is a beautiful walk, as is Rainbow Row (a collection of pastel colored homes). We had Lunch at Magnolia's at the bar, which was Outstanding. We spent our first afternoon at Boone Plantation - HIGHLY Recommended! Beautiful gardens, "Entrance of Oaks", a Cafe' on site, and a Tractor tour of the property, all wonderful. If you can only do 1 plantation, this one is CLOSE, 20 minutes from downtown, and beautiful.

Charleston is an awesome walking city. So much history.
Charleston is an awesome walking city. So much history. Definitely take a walking tour, as soon as you arrive. A great way to learn the lay of the land and what Charleston is all about. Restaurants are way above most cities. You can tell the chefs take great pride. We enjoyed "Southbound Restaurant!" Every bite was incredible with different taste that we could not pinpoint but enjoyed immensely! Make reservations well in advance, as the weekends are full. Great city for couples and girls weekend. Lots and lots of shopping! Fun City!

This was my third time in Charleston.
This was my third time in Charleston. I really love this city! We went to the South Carolina aquarium again and had a fabulous time. We also went out to Fort Sumter, which was an amazing trip. However, it was very windy that day. We also went out to Boone Hall plantation, and that was very informative and very interesting as well. Shem Creek and Sullivans Island were also wonderful.
New hotel so everything clean and staff especially front desk very helpful for negotiating the area and making great suggestions for side trips. We chose N Charleston since downtown area price prohibitive for accomodations.,but able to access all areas by car.
Overall comfortable, very nice hotel and very pleased with our accomodations...would stay again if in area
The room was great. It was really a small apartment. It was clean and comfortable and pretty quiet. The hotel was in a good part of downtown right across the street from the "Market". And a coffee shop a minute walk in either direction. I walked a few times to College of Charleston about 12 minute walk away. Felt safe to walk though i only walked in daylight.
Fantastic central location easy access to central Charleston. Bedrooms outstanding. Great care taken to ensure our comfort and good nights sleep. Amazing extras. Champagne on arrival and daily in the evening was a lovely touch as was the cheese and wine every evening. Breakfast offered was good. Very friendly hotel staff.
Decent hotel with very comfortable bed and nice dove products. Updated bathroom with just a couple of finishing issues/maintenance. Price was ok for Charleston as pretty pricey - especially Fridays. Guy on check-in was very helpful with map and info plus dealing with issues. Breakfast very good.
The location of this hotel is unbeatable for proximity to tourist sites and scenic views, including Marion Square just across the street. Much of what you might want to see in downtown Charleston is within walking distance. The city and water views from my room were gorgeous.
Parking lot is very convenient and cost $20 a day
Lobby and Atrium are very relaxing spots to enjoy the well done Happy Hour and breakfast
Hotel is located close to bus stops and is walking distance to many of the attractions in Charleston
and top notch restaurants
Lovely B&B with an AMAZING staff located in the heart of the historic district. Loved that we had on site parking and we could easily walk throughout downtown Charleston. Parker and Tyler were fantastic and the morning breakfast delicious. Can’t wait to visit again!
We liked the room a lot,we had everything that we needed right there. The hotel location was great. We had restaurants, shops, and downtown Charleston was just over the bridge.Patriots Point was right at us also.We had a h great stay even with the rain.
This is an ideal location for visiting Charleston. It’s in a great neighbourhood with easy access into the centre of the city. It’s is an extremely well managed hotel with the social evening being a major plus and a great way of meeting people.
Conveniently located off I-20 West entrance, it is 15 mins away from Charleston Downtown. This hotel was good value for money. The breakfast had a few options to choose from. Rooms were spacious and clean.
We were impressed, hotel is super clean and personal is so friendly, very convenient location in downtown of Charleston but it was quiet, breakfast was also very good!
Highly recommend that hotel!
We travel often and stay in a variety of places including hotels, B&Bs, condos, air B&Bs. The Iris was kind of a happy mix of all of them and when we return to Charleston, we will stay here again.
The location was convenient - easy access to/from Charleston Airport, and a short drive to downtown Charleston. Plenty of parking spaces, spacious room, very helpful staff (appreciated).
Location of the hotel and size of our room were fantastic. The hotel is located right on King street making all of the Charleston attractions downtown easy to access by walking.
For Charleston, whose central shopping district was little more than a 15-minute drive away, this place was a real bargain: about a third the price of a downtown hotel.
Staff was the best, very friendly. But the for example in the bathroom was mold. Not pretty but was cheaper than the other options and close to downtown. Bed was comfy
