The main point of Beatty is the good access to Death Valley.
The main point of Beatty is the good access to Death Valley. I found the Rebel Garage and its convenience store good, though prices were understandably higher than supermarkets. The Burro pub located opposite Rebel garage is excellent with friendly service. Beatty has a lovely old world feel about it, with a long mining history.

Beatty is a very small town with a big heart.
Beatty is a very small town with a big heart. Wild burros, family owned restaurants & businesses nestled just outside of Death Valley NP. I would recommend staying in Beatty instead of inside the park. El Portal motel was a great place to stay. Has all the amenities travelers need. Support the local restaurants and businesses.

To be honest, upon first arriving in Beatty my husband was kind of concerned about what our hotel might be like. (He hadn’t seen the pics). It’s a small old mining town with not much there and quite a lot of rundown buildings, but nonetheless a welcome oasis in the desert. There were only about three real options on a Monday night to find dinner (the few other places were small local places with limited menu options which may have been okay, but some of those even were closed or out of business) so we went with the Denny’s in the casino as a safe bet and had some delicious burgers. There is a large nice candy and ice cream store which we also visited. There is also a really cool looking building being renovated with intricate metal work on the outside. I hope they complete the job as it would be the gem of the town. Our hotel, The Death Valley Inn & RV Park, looked to be the best place to stay with the casino hotel next. I chose Beatty over Pahrump to save a little distance to returning to Death Valley the next day, to stay in a more unique location at a non-chain hotel, the ability to visit the ghost town and Goldwell Open Air Museum in Rhyolite as added attractions, and for the possibility of seeing the wild burros, which we happily briefly did in town (we actually also spotted about 10 of them on the hill near the ghost town). All in all, it was a good night’s stay with friendly people that met our needs.

Small town with convenient location in a place where accommodations can be hard to find. Near Rhyolite ghost town and Death Valley. Has a museum and nearby Native American and geological sites we will return to check out. Most importantly? Free-roaming DONKEYS! Friendly creatures will approach for head scratches, and food; if you want to share. Apparently it’s a birdwatching destination too.

Location is great, you could spend a couple of weeks exploring Death Valley and surroundings without repeating. Town has a nice rustic feel, with an eclectic mix of casinos and wild burros. Pack some food and veggies, and it's golden. ^_^
Best Location for Death Valley access. Nice restaurants around. Mexican food truck nearby was awesome. The owner forgot to light up the sign some days and it was bit difficult to find the place. Otherwise, he was very helpful, gave extra hangers and coffee. Room was clean. It was huge too with three beds. We would have liked a couch instead of the third bed but it served well. We like the motel setup for our hiking trips.
The outside appearance, the location, comfortable bed, and the refrigerator worked well. I did not use the shower so I can’t speak to that, but they provided bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths (I have been in much nicer motels that do not include hand towels), they also had a hair dryer and kleenex, something often passed on by other motels.
The hotel is what you expect from the description. The room is spacious and and the bed was comfortable. There is a fridge and a microwave in the room. Parking is just outside the rooms. The hotel is well situated when visiting Death Valley but without staying within the park.
The hotel was a sanctuary from a rare winter storm event in the desert. There was great wind and a lot of snow.. it was a perfect place to stay the night. Many of the big rigs traveling that night flipped over in the snow and we saw them the next day. On our way up 95.
It is close to Death Valley, the room was large enough, clean and quiet, so I got enough rest. Breakfast is a simple meal. The additional cost for one dog is $15. There's Rhyolite nearby, so it's a good place to stop by and take a look on your way to Death Valley.
It is a good place to stay outside Death Valley., (though Furnace Creek is still an hour away). The rooms were clean modern and quiet.
Very good value for money.
Beatty has a few restaurants and bars, though they are limited in what they serve.
We drive through Beatty often and this is the first time we stayed overnight. The place was in a nice location, very clean, and had very helpful staff who provided recommendations for around the area.
Near Death Valley. We enjoy the swimming pool after a very warm day.
The room was so clean. Wifi goes well, we had coffee in our room.
I recommend this place without any shadow of doubt
The location to the north side of Death Valley, made exploring the park easier (we divided it into north side and south side). An older hotel that had been updated. Staff was courteous.
Very modern and nice motel. The room was clean and staff very friendly.
A lot of the more affordable motels in the US are a bit dated, but not this one. So very welcome change.
Beatty was a good stopping point near Death Valley on the way from Yosemite to Las Vegas. We had a good supper in Smokin J’s Barbecue and a great breakfast at Mel’s Diner
This was a GREAT place to stay if you want to see Death Valley. Beatty itself is cute and unique. They have donkeys roaming the area and a cute little musuem
room was well appointed, bed was very comfortable, room as a whole was also very comfortable especially for the price,
pleasant surprise for an older hotel.
Got what you paid for. Hotel was busy considering the location is in the middle of nowhere. Overall great for the price and would definitely recommend.
