I attended a conference at the AICC and for convenience I ate my dinner at the Mount Meru Hotel. I enjoyed the safari to Tarangire Park and had a lovely goat and lamb BBQ at the local Kwa Mrombo (a street full of BBQ goat meat in Arusha).

Arusha is not a pleasant place, on the very dirty crowded streets there is non stop people grabbing and talking to you all wanting money, we had one person tell us about his mother in the hospital and wanted us to pay her bills. Arusha is a means to a safari and that is it.

Arusha is a busy city.
Arusha is a busy city.
I have visited old German Boma which was converted into Natural History Museum.
Seen also Arusha Declaration Monument and Clocktower which they claim it’s located in the middle of Africa or let say in the middle between Cairo and Cape Town.
They have some supermarkets like Shoppers Supermarket or AIM Mall on the way to Arusha Airport.
East African Community HQ and Heritage Museum.

A typical African city, colorful with open local markets and malls, safe to walk around and very friendly people. Ideal location to start your safari because most safari organisers start safaris from there. I’ll definitely visit Arusha again.

Great city to stay in.
Great city to stay in. Definitely the safari hub; at least four major safari destinations (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater) within a day's drive. Lots of great (if sometimes challenging) hiking to be done in the foothills of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro (or climb the mountains if you feel like it).
Easy access through Arusha (domestic) or Kilimanjaro (international) airports. Taxis are cheap, but make sure you agree on a price beforehand,

Good variety of shops and interesting cultural and heritage centre. Convenient place for starting point for safari. Views of mountains/hills at times. Climate not too hot. Maasai market interesting.
We absolutely loved our stay at Mambo Hideaway! We spent three nights and enjoyed every bit of it. The rooms were comfortable and cozy- it felt like staying in a lovely home, not a corporate hotel. The shower got HOT too which was much appreciated in chilly Arusha. The breakfast was fantastic and we spent lazy mornings in the garden. The distance from town didn’t bother us at all- we would take a taxi around lunch and come back after dinner. Maggie was an excellent hostess and took such good care of us. Highly, highly recommend!
Very good location off of Old Moshi Road at then intersection with the bypass. Quiet neighborhood. Best reached by car, but if you don’t have a vehicle, the security guard, Aymarni, is excellent!! He will run out to pick you up beers, eggs, sausages, whatever you need.
The hot water is super hot and the beds are comfortable. Wifi is exceptional. Swiss standards, truly!
I really enjoy USA River. Excellent location between Arusha, Kili Airport, and Moshi.
Extra bonus: You have an excellent view of Mt Meru from the backyard.
The location of this hotel is great for me – away from hustle and bustle of Arusha city. The receptionist booked a taxi for me to the city center and it was closer enough than I thought (less than 15 minutes) As a solo traveler myself, the small size hostel is good for me to mingle with other travelers from around the world. And the gentleman (sorry forgot his name) at a reception desk was very kind.
I will visit again whenever I go to Arusha
The staff was amazing!! So friendly! They recommended an excellent place for dinner right near by and even walked us there. We were leaving really early the next day and they kindly woke early to pack us breakfast for take away. The room was so cute, plus there was an outside fire pit. We only wish we had gotten there earlier so we could have enjoyed more time there. We would definitely book again next time we’re in Arusha!
Do yourself a favour, stop researching elsewhere and stay here. Stayed previously at 5 star Meru hotel, and sure it was flash, but the Blue elephant so much more relaxed atmosphere, homey & beautiful gardens/chill zones, you wouldn't pick that it's just off the busy main street. The amazing girls will look after you and keep you well fed. Such a gem! I'll be back!
Great location, nice staff, and nice facilities. Real great value for money. There were a couple of hotels a walking distance from green mountain that were charging five times the rates, am just not sure they had that much more to offer. Arusha is a tourist town, being that close to mount Kilimanjaro, so be aware of hotels and establishments who milk that fact.
For the Arusha standards, the hotel was okay-ish. Very good price and decent location (not right in the city center, but 15 mins by walk from it). There is a restaurant working until 11 pm if you want to have dinner at the hotel. The hotel and the room were clean - no dust.
Servicable hotel in Arusha. The rooms are decent and the breakfast is good. The staff is friendly and helpful and the place seems secure as it's in a suburb behind a large gate. There is mosuito netting on the beds.
for the people who is starting / finishing safari trip i think its the best place to stay , its in the middle of arusha city , its not that pricy and very clean and big hotel . nice pool and nice breakfast .
We chose this hotel for our stay for first and last night after safari. Glad we chose it as it was very clean and both breakfast and dinner were really good. Totally recommended if staying in Arusha.
The hotel is located in front of a bus station and for that reason allows you to have a very authentic and unique opportunity to experience Arusha. Additionally, staff is very friendly and helpful.
Best budget hotel in Arusha. Clean asthetic rooms, large bathroom and the ambience, everything was just perfect!!! Breakfast was also delicious and staffs were very friendly in nature and helpful.
The apartment is great. Loved staying there. I visited a lot of hotels and places in Arusha, because I stayed there for 3 months, and Kibo is very good value for the money.
The hotel extended my stay for one additional day at no extra cost due to my flight into Arusha being cancelled. In addition, very friendly and helpful staff.
