Good location right on the river (I was in the annexe building on the other side of the road to the main hotel). Reasonable sized room, quiet and a good breakfast (in the main building). Good value for money.

The staff were so helpful and made us feel welcome. The location is right on the Mekong river. Lovely rooms. Great value.
=Nam Pueng Place 1 is located across from Khong View Shopping Centre. It offers clean and comfortable rooms with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Guests enjoy free coffee and tea in the lobby area.
Acceptable for one night. You need a car to get to the hotel. The rooms are not soundproof. Quite loud from the traffic. The hotel is located directly on the main street. The breakfast is not bad and with good coffee to make yourself with a coffee machine.

The shower head was to 50% clogged, and the water was deflected sideways splashing all over. This was the case in both the rooms I had booked!
The TV remote control did not work, as the batteries inside were corroded and bloated badly.

Chiang Saen was the first city in Thailand and some of the old walls remain. Scattered all around are the remains of old temples which are mostly marked with information boards. There are basic bicycles provided free to cycle around the town and the ruins. It is not a busy place and the cycling is safe. The Mokong River forms one border of the city and is also forms the border between Laos and Thailand. It is a major waterway and the activities going on are interesting to watch. The city has a relaxed atmosphere and the people quite friendly to visitors. Lots of coffee shops and a few restaurants. The Golden Triangle is a few km away by road and a little further is the hall of Opium museum which is well done and more interesting than perhaps the name suggests. About 7km away is Chaing Saen lake, a site for bird watching and with small villages to drive/cycle through. Probably 2/3 days is enough time to experience Chiang Saen but it is nice and relaxing and you may enjoy visiting more than once.

The hotel is located outside the center of the town near the wall. We chose it so that it would be quiet. The rooms are fine with hot water and air conditioning. Breakfast was fine. Price is also good for what we got.
We had food at a restaurant recommended by the hotel and that was a good choice. We wanted to visit the wall, wat Phra That Chedi Luang and Chiang Saen National museum. They were worth the visit.

Oldest Thai town in Thailand, founded a thousand years ago.
Oldest Thai town in Thailand, founded a thousand years ago. Many very ancient temples, some with great views of Mekong river. Boat trips along Mekong river to Golden triangle and Laos market. Walled city - walk around walls interesting and beautiful.
Everything ! Our stay was a wonderful experience ! This resort is located at the banks of Chiang Saen Lake, among beautiful nature. Only 4 kilometers from Chiang Saen, the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. Dinner and breakfast (with home-baked bread !!!) is copious and delicious. The English-Thai owner-couple, as well as the staff, everyone does his/her very best to make you feel a valued guest, and not just a passing-by customer. We will be back as soon as possible, for sure !
The hotel rooms were large and clean. The mattresses were very comfortable. There was a soccer table game and a Billard table for the children to play. Another bonus was the free usage of the bicycles. The hotel faces the Mekong River and it was very relaxing to sit by the river.
The buffet has a good spread of food. Staffs were friendly and helpful.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is a little outside the centre of the village, but you can reach the centre by walking for 10 minutes. Not far. The staff are helpful but do not speak English. The room looks old but clean and spacious. In the morning you can get toast, jam and coffee.
An excellent value for money hotel. - Top tip - Ask in advance for a room that does not face the road. I asked for a quite room and it was still a little noisey, but there are rooms that will be quiter.
