Fantastic location, in the middle of a valley and with a small stream passing through. The buildings are all handmade with bamboo and clay which gave the place unique character. The host Keet and his colleagues were incredibly nice and welcoming, we arrived quite late and they cooked for us with local ingredients. It was fantastic to be able to fall asleep listening only to the sound of water. If you fancy aircon, tv screens, bright lights, local amenities etc. then this place probably won't be for you but if you want to meet great people and experience something different and authentic then don't think twice.

Our host could not have been better. She was the most helpful and kind person we have met so far in Thailand. She arranged a taxi for us to come over and also to leave early in the morning. The accommodation was also perfect, basic, modern and really peaceful. We had a thai massage on the porch and it was just the ultimate relaxing stay which needed.

There is nothing not to like in this wonderful place. The relaxed vibe begins when you roll up to be greeted by an assistant who then phones the manager who arrives on a scooter two minutes later to welcome you to Chater. This would be Leena (spelling?) who is as smiling, charming and friendly as can be. Out of season she runs the place on her own. When I needed to sort out my sim card she showed me to the appropriate shop. When I needed to eat out she showed me her favourite restaurants. When I wanted to spend time with elephants she took me to one of the better operated sanctuaries in the area. The spacious rooms are great with incredibly comfy beds and pillows. Very quiet and cool enough not to need the aircon or even a fan to sleep well through the sweltering March conditions. The pool is excellent. The wifi is reliable. And it really is this cheap. Simply gorgeous.

I recently stayed at La Maison and while the property itself is beautiful and the staff incredibly friendly, there were some aspects that left me disappointed. One of the main reasons for choosing this place was the yoga and meditation workshops, unfortunately, these were not available as the owners were away. this was not communicated to us before.
The communal areas are charming and well-maintained, but the outside area of our hut was minimal and uncomfortable. I had envisioned relaxing outside after dinner, gazing at the sky, but the only seating option was a narrow bench under a roof. The hammock under the building was not appealing either.
Another concern was the price of the evening meal, which I found to be quite expensive at 400 baht per person. This included tomatoes, rice, pork skewers, and a very small square of chocolate cake, with no drinks included. Considering we had enjoyed a delicious meal with drinks just 10 minutes away for 120 baht for both of us, we felt that the meal at La Maison was overpriced.
Furthermore, we were told that without transportation, there weren't any other dining options nearby. This felt a bit limiting, especially when considering the price of the meals offered at the property.
Overall, while La Maison has its merits, there are areas that could be improved to offer a better value and experience for guests.
