A vibrant city with calmer beaches and busy markets. The people are incredibly friendly. I would go again as I didn't have time to fully explore.
On the plateau, explore the historic memory island of Gorée, go to the HLM market, the textiles market in Sandaga, the food market of Kermel. If you have time, go to the beach in Ngor and swim to Ngor island. Eat some local grilled fish and fresh veges.
Just drink bottled water :)

Senegal has very friendly people with lots of places to see and visit. It's easy to move around either by hailing Taxis or using the Yango ride app.
I enjoyed my visits to the Marché Soumbédioune. Here, you can buy authentic African craft from the Artisanal Village. Nearby is the Soumbédioune sea food market where you can buy a variety of fresh and grilled sea food to delight your palate. I enjoyed a meal of grilled fish and fries here.
The Mosque of Divinity and African Renaissance Monument are also 2 nice places I saw.
Before leaving for Ghana, I stopped by the Sea Plaza shopping mall to buy gifts for my friends and family back at home.

Good for seasoned travelers who like to get with the people. Senegal is a fast-growing region with plenty of young people. Dirt roads are the main surface in Dakar but once out of town, you will find modern highways.

The place was wonderful. Clean. The pool was clean and everything else.
The bad
The big refrigerator was not working but the provided small one new. Some of the toilets has issue draining water. But with the host Babacar everything was possible. The guy was excellent, nice and very disponible. Always available when needed something. If it wasn’t him, I wouldn’t have stay there during my stay. Because of the address

I felt safe and there were many things to see. The people I encountered were beyond friendly and helpful. I took a taxi a few times and the drivers were fair. I walked around the city during the day and at night and felt comfortable. The beach was very nice and clean.
The highlight on our stay in Senegal was the fabulous Sunday buffet. There were so many items, and each was fabulous. There were huge pots of grilled scampi - the size of lobsters in the US. And the grilled lambchops were as much as you could eat and were so tasty. Also, there were many mini buffets of salads and desserts, and separate stations of different ethnic goods (Mexican, Indonesian and others). This buffet was reasonably priced and the highlight of our stay in Senegal. We are so lucky we were there on Sunday.
I had a great time at this hotel. The interior and rooms are beautifully designed and extremely comfortable and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The rooftop bar is lovely. The hotel is located in a super upscale neighbourhood that has a lot offer in terms of beaches, seaside lounges and nightlife but downtown is a 30 min taxi ride away. Ask them to arrange the airport transfer for you. I was driven in a car that was a lot more comfortable than the average Dakar taxi at a similar cost.
We had an excellent time at La Villa 126. I have visited Senegal several times, and this is the best hotel I have been so far. The staff was so accommodating, always smiling and taking care of our needs. The place is very clean, food is homemade. The place is quiet and well decorated. Special mention to Awa the head staff. She really made us feel at home. If you don't like large hotel chain and want a home away from home then definitely book at La Villa.
This hotel is perfect. It lives up to European standards. Staff is excellent (receptionisits and cleaners are top notch). They even helped us around the city and took us on tours to Goree Island, Independance monument, Bandia Reserve and the Sandaga market.
The rooms are so quiet and clean. Bed is a dream after a long day of sightseeing. Totally recommended. Reliable shuttle services to the airport too. Breakfast is GREAT.
everything is absolutely beautiful in this hotel, from the design and architecture of the hotel building to the swimming pool with a great view of the ocean. also the rooms are very comfy and the breakfast is delicious. this hotel should have a much higher rating on booking.com and should be considered the best of whole of Dakar. special thanks to the very friendly staff that made my stay very pleasant.

Everything! The food was amazing, the staff was the friendliest i ever met, the entire staff knew me by name. The hotel was located near many beautiful area on the northern Dakar coast. I will actually miss the staffs sunny disposition and all arround amazing Senegalese hospitality. Looking forward to come back again soon.
Fann Hock is a nice residential district, There is a super nice tipical Senegal Restaurant just across the street called Chez Amina, where you can eat , also a good bar le Khorbi. The gardien Papus is excellent, and Hadi, who is doing the cleaning is super nice as well. Overall lovely people, I enjoyed staying there!
Awesome location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is near the center of Dakar and commute isn’t very expensive. The owner was very kind in offering guidance about events and lit locations we could visit. He always answered our calls and questions. We will definitely rebook this property if we visit Dakar again.
Great location directly on the beach in a lively Dakar neighbourhood. Excellent restaurant with good fish, and others a short walk away. Staff friendly and helpful, able to arrange cool day trips at an affordable rate and at fairly short notice, as well as direct transfer to the Isle of Ngor
Good hotel, nice setting right on the ocean. There is a small beach area that's walkable. The restaurant is very good, maybe a little expensive for Senegal. Recommend for exploring Dakar for a couple of nights. Staff very friendly and plenty spoke English (as I don't speak french)
