Stylish accomodation in a building with history. Run by friendly hosts who answer to every question. There were extras in the room like bathrobe and slippers available. Everything was clean and the breakfast was good with everything we needed. We decided spontaneously to stay one more night. A good place!

Umeå is a hidden gem in northern Sweden, offering a unique blend of vibrant culture, natural beauty, and warm hospitality. My visit to Umeå left me thoroughly impressed with both the city and its people.
The city itself is a harmonious mix of modernity and tradition. Umeå is known for its thriving arts scene, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as a European Capital of Culture.
Nature lovers will find Umeå a paradise, with its close proximity to lush forests, serene rivers, and the stunning coastline of the Gulf of Bothnia. The city is designed with nature in mind, with plenty of parks and green spaces to explore. The Ume River, which runs through the city, provides picturesque views and is perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride.
But what truly makes Umeå special are its people. The residents of Umeå are some of the friendliest and most welcoming individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Despite the city’s northern location, the warmth of its people is palpable. Whether asking for directions, recommendations, or just striking up a casual conversation, the locals are always eager to help with a genuine smile. There’s a strong sense of community in Umeå, and it’s easy to feel at home even if you’re just visiting.

Beautiful, but geografically not very different from our starting cityin Vasa, Finland. Bars and restaurants were really good. Everything is quite easy accessable, and most places we visited were also wheelchair friendly.

The center of the city is so beautiful and well organized.
The river looks so nice and it is an amazing way to relax.
Many shops open for late hours and that's so good.
There are many shopping malls, and it is fair enough.
The transport network is so comfort.

Loved how easy the city was to navigate on foot and find your way from site to site. Handy signposts were great. I ate on the go - Subway & tried Sibylla for first time. Started off full of energy thanks to the solid breakfast provided all-inclusive at my hostel. Managed to squeeze in Umedalen Sculpture Park, Women's History Museum, Bildmuseet plus nearby giant clothespeg sculpture, Västerbotten Museum, Umeå City Church and the local cinema in my 2 day stay. Not bad! Riverside walkway also made for a charming saunter beside the frozen river. Sadly no SSL/Allsvenskan innebandy matches played for me to attend while there and the Guitar Museum was closed but makes for great reasons to return :)

Umea is a wonderful nordic city with a small population.
Umea is a wonderful nordic city with a small population. The city is generally safe and the people are generally welcoming and willing to assist especially when visitors seem lost.
The cost of living seems to be high compared to other places but this is understandable given the high incomes and standard of living in Sweden.
In general, it is a good and relaxing place to visit for a nordic city.
We enjoyed the bed (feel, size, pillows and duvet). The temperature was easy to set. Nice to have water glass, whine glass AND toothbrush glass. The interior was fabulous. There was a lot to choose at the breakfast as well and it was good quality. Close to everything in Umeå.
Spacious apartment just outside Umeå, very cozy and surrounded by nature. Annakarin and Rickard, the hosts, have been very kind and helpful, and provided us with extra kitchen supplies as we needed them. Good price compared to the average prices of Umeå and surroundings.
Great value for money! This hotel offers a good dinner included in the price, the guests are also welcome to have complimentary afternoon tea with waffles. Our room was very spacious and clean.
