This holy city is located in western Saudi Arabia and is also known as Makkah. Millions of Muslims make a pilgrimage here, as the pilgrimage is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad was born here, and it is a sacred place for Muslims and the birthplace of Islam.
Non-muslims are not permitted into Mecca and the government of Saudi Arabia issues special visas for people making the pilgrimage. Most people coming to the Mecca will enter via the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah is the gateway to the city.
The Hajj has a fairly set itinerary including a visit to the Sacred Mosque, al-Masjid al-Haram, built around the Kaaba.
Mecca contains many restaurants with varied cuisine and tea shops are available for light refreshments such as traditional tea and biscuits. There are also many juice stands for a little refreshment amid the heat.
Ranging from luxury hotels to basic accommodation, Booking.com offers over 80 hotels for your time in Mecca.
Alhamdulillah. It feels great to perform umrah and prayers at the Masjidil Haram. You can get a wide variety of food at the Clock Tower. Getting around Makkah is quite easy using Careem or taxis. It can get very crowded in and around Masjidil Haram. Watch Makkah Live on YouTube to get a good insight.

Makkah is holy city, but there is a big problem is transportation, there are free shuttle services but unfortunately they drop you far away from Haram and need to walk a lot, also very difficulty in finding an uber and taxis are overly expensive.
Otherwise it is beautiful city with holy places as well as very good hotels and food is excellent around most of the areas and very economic in price too.

This is my 4th visit to Makkah, and I'd recommend to all Muslims to make the effort to visit Makkah and to experience the journey! I am grateful as solo female traveller to be able to travel to Makkah 2 years in a row without any barriers. New travellers needs to be mindful that people from all over the world visit Makkah and to be mindful how male Muslims treat women. Awareness is needed to avoid others ruins your Makkah experiences.

Makkah is a city unlike any other, and my experience there...
Makkah is a city unlike any other, and my experience there was truly profound. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of reverence and spiritual significance.
Pros:
Sacred Atmosphere: The city’s spiritual ambiance is palpable, particularly around the Haram. Being in the presence of the Kaaba and participating in the rituals of Hajj or Umrah is an unforgettable experience. The sense of unity and devotion among pilgrims from around the world is inspiring.
Hospitality: The people of Makkah, including hotel staff and local residents, are incredibly welcoming. Their hospitality adds to the overall warmth and comfort of the stay.
Infrastructure: The facilities around the Haram are well-maintained and designed to accommodate the large number of visitors. Transportation options are efficient, and the area is well-served by a variety of services and amenities.
Cultural Experience: Beyond the religious significance, Makkah offers rich cultural experiences. From traditional markets (souks) to local cuisine, there’s much to explore and enjoy.
Cons:
Crowds: The city can be very crowded, especially during peak times like Ramadan and Hajj season. Navigating the busy streets and accessing certain services can be challenging.
Climate: The weather in Makkah can be extremely hot, particularly during the summer months. It’s essential to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat.
Overall Experience:
Makkah is a city that leaves a lasting impression. Its spiritual significance and the warmth of its people make it a place of deep personal reflection and connection. Despite the challenges of crowds and climate, the overall experience is profoundly moving and worth every moment. Whether you’re there for religious pilgrimage or to experience its unique atmosphere, Makkah offers a meaningful and memorable visit.

I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for your stay. It offers an exceptional experience with clean and well-maintained rooms, top-notch services, and a friendly staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Its convenient location near Haram makes it a perfect choice for pilgrims or anyone visiting the area. The breakfast provided is not only delicious but also adds to the overall positive experience. You can trust that this hotel will make your stay memorable and enjoyable.
Hotel was fine, but going to Haram need a taxi, I visited in Ramadan 2024, mostly taxi asking 20-30 to drop on Gaza gate from their walking to Haram takes 7-10 minutes. But if you ask taxi to drop near Haram under tunnel gate, which is close to King Fahad gate they ask more money, and in peak time taxi asking very high. Hotel also provide a shuttle 30 minutes before prayers but were shuttle drop need to walk 5-7 minutes to Haram.
Actually hotel was nice and clean, and they provided us bus service to haram every hour, unfortunately that service was not good had to wait for long time for bus to arrive esp from haram to hotel, also drop point near haram was far from haram had toi travel almost 20 minutes to reach haram, this area hotel should improve, rest everything was excellent especially staff at reception.
