It's crowded but interesting. Lots of folks from Argentina and Brazil come to buy at big discounts and take home. But as a tourist, Ciudad del Este (CDE) has some very worthwhile places to visit such as Tres Fronteras, Saltos de Monday, Itapua Damn and you are really close to the falls at Iguazu (certainly worth the drive!).

Ciudad Del Este is a true unique place.
Ciudad Del Este is a true unique place. Lot of people, I would say from all over world. Lots of tourist shopping duty free products. Bad traffic to drive, and some places full of people to walk. But people in general are trying to sell and to do so they really chase you around, but all friendly in general. Rush day starts very early around 5am and finish around 3pm every day. In the afternoon there´s no much to do around, only enjoy some bars and restaurants. During the day, all the shopping malls full of tourist.

Although I spend three nights at CDE I havent spend much of the day time there. I visited the falls and Itaipu, would have liked another day to explore more of the city. Even though it is a lot of shopping.

There's waterfall Salto del Monday, it's smaller than Iguassu falls but still worths to see it (especially with the kids of 7 - 12 years old, there're some activities like zipping and son on for them). The entrance to Itaipu is for free from the side of Paraguay.

where should I begin… I rate this hotel in my top ten places I’ve stayed in years of travel. as a solo female traveler, I immediately felt extremely safe, secure, and cared for by the kind and attentive staff. this place feels like a home. the garden is beautiful, the breakfast room feels like a family gathering place. the location is perfect - near some of CDEs best parks, away from the chaos of town but only a short taxi ride in if needed. very good vibes here, wouldn’t stay anywhere else in CDE.
We really loved our stay at Hummingbird Hostel and even stayed one night longer than planned. The hostel has a big open kitchen with lots of seating areas where you can watch the hummingbirds fly by. The host Silvia welcomed us very warmly, helped us with all our questions and had lots of tips for us. She speaks fluent english and we had many interesting conversations. You could tell that she was very concerned about giving us a great stay in Ciudad del Este, which we definitely had!
The staff were all very polite, hospitable, and accommodating. The property was very clean with and a modern elegance to it. The landscaping was very appealing to the eye. Everything in the hotel was easily accessible, and the location of the hotel was in a safe and clean neighborhood. There are many restaurants in walking distance and quick driving distance. So far from Asuncion to Ciudad Del Este, this hotel has had the most comfortable bed and comfortable sized room as well :)
If your visiting Ciudad del Este I highly recommend this property. Centrally located and very friendly staff- the one young lady at the front (whose name I didn’t catch ) in particular was so friendly and helpful. Came with a basic but tasty breakfast and the bed was super comfortable. Also around the corner is a guy on the street that has a charcoal grill whose meat was to die for! I can’t see getting back to Paraguay but if I did I’d stay again for sure!
A great place to stay near the bus terminal. It's very clean and comfortable, safe (you get your own front door key), and the staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi works well, there's a good shower in a small ensuite bathroom, and the breakfast was very tasty with fruit, yogurt, cheese and ham. It's not the most beautiful city but the hotel is just what most tourists need for a few nights. At that price this is highly recommended.
Silvia was incredibly helpful, welcoming, approachable, and accessible. She advised regarding local activities, booked taxis, found affordable accommodations for me in the town where I will be next, and made calls to book said accommodations. She is fluent in English. Her local expertise alone is worth the price of the stay and makes Hummingbird Hostel an excellent choice, especially if it's your first stop in Paraguay.
I felt safe and very comfortable at the hotel. Excellent customer service
The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and polite.
I can recommend this hotel to anyone, family or solo traveller, on vacation or business.
The place is very quiet.
The restaurant is great. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna are great. I sometimes had my meals on the patio, which is a great place to eat and relax.
I am so grateful to all staff.
An old, but very nice hotel with the beautiful people who care about it. The room is simple, but the bed is large, bed linen and towels are fresh. Staying in the city for a couple of nights is the best option.
The breakfast is simple but tasty. And everyone takes care of you, it's very nice.
But our main love is the Pancho parrot! He's just the sweetest old man to talk to. We will definitely visit him again!
The nicest place I have stayed in Ciudad del Este so far. Extremely friendly owner (speaks English perfectly), lovely room with a very comfy bed, TV with many channels (could even watch Copa Libertadores matches), stable working internet (approx. 40 MBit/s) and the absolute highlight - the breakfast! It will keep you stuffed until dinner time.
We loved this accommodation. Such a brilliant oasis in Ciudad del Este. The room was super large, the food was brilliant (ate 3x meals a day here) and the staff were super friendly. The staff were so attentive and really great with our daughter. We really enjoyed staying here.
Nice little hotel bordering CIudad del Este and Presidente Franco; though a bit far from the shopping area, tourists who are driving to CDE to shop may find it useful since it's easily reachable. Nice swimming pool and resting area outside :)
Very clean room with a nice owner. Just to note that this is not what I would consider to be a hotel or a hostel but really more of a home stay. The location is a bit far from the centre but there are some restaurants nearby.
Nice, well organised and pleasant hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Very good service and breakfast.
Good place to relax after a day with a lot of impressions, like Itaipu and the Foz do Iguazu on the brasilian side.
Very nice hotel , beautiful and clean rooms . Very friendly staff , especially Edelio and his colleague from the night shift . The hotel has its own restaurant and the food is very good ! Recommend the place !
The hotel is a quiet oasis in the middle of downtown Ciudad del Este. The public spaces and the room were spotless and very comfortable. The 8th Floor terrace was wonderful.
