Dona Filipa Hotel, hotel in Vale do Lobo

Just 200 metres from Vale do Lobo Beach, Dona Filipa Hotel offers rooms with a balcony with panoramic views of Vale do Lobo Golf Course, the Atlantic Ocean, or the village.

Breakfast buffet is very good. The hotel location is excellent but it is getting a little tired with dated decor and old rooms but it’s still a treat to stay there

Fantastic setting overlooking the 16th hole.

Fantastic setting overlooking the 16th hole. Gorgeous resort with fabulous beach. The resort itself was quiet (we visited February half term) and the only 2 restaurants and bar open were quite expensive ( €13.50 for cocktail and €6.50 for beer, meals € 23 +). Car hire is a must as it’s a good 30 min walk to nearest supermarket. The Pingo Dolce one was very well stocked and reasonably priced. The Xenia didn’t open until Easter. Would definitely recommend if you want a golfing trip - which we did- not so sure for family holiday as very little for children other than the beach at this time of year. Lots to visit nearby if you have transport.

    Beautiful sunsets, golden beaches

Beautiful sunsets, golden beaches Loved the different restaurants and bars. Sandbanks was fantastic for breakfast, lunch and evening meal with views out to sea. Bars we liked The Roof A short walk from the resort was a fantastic restaurant called Marias, which we highly recommend. The boardwalk was a great walk from Marias to the next village.

Very clean place with friendly locals.

Very clean place with friendly locals. Could be quite expensive (especially taxi fares - 8 euros for a trip of approximately 1 mile). Some very exclusive restaurants but also some wonderful great value ones too! We used the same taxi driver and he was able to take us to 3 different great restaurants, all with with lovely food and not expensive at all (3 people dining, breads/olives, 1 starter, 3 main meals & sides, 3 desserts, 3 soft drinks, 2 litres of sparkling water and 1/2 litre jug of sangria = Total bill = 74 euros!! Beach was very big and very clean with plenty of parasols on offer. Also lovely off shore breeze in the evenings - most welcome after an afternoon of around 30 degrees!

Great beaches, always beautifully clean, with plenty of good restaurants at a range of price points in the area. A car is a must in order to get around, unless you're staying at a beach-side hotel.

We spent most of the time at the pools and the beach. The pool is free with the VDL orange resident card usually E25/day, they also have free pool towels and there is an extensive menu the the pool restaurant and bar. The beach has loungers that will cost a nominal day rate with an umbrella. The beach bar is fantastic with food, icecreams and cocktails overlooking the ocean. The house is spacious, airconditioned and good size rooms with towels and rooms are cleaned every 3 days. Lots of crockery and cutlery etc. Welcome fresh bread, milk, orange juice, croissants and jams on arrival was fantastic. Bag storage at the main reception was helpful as we arrived early. There is is free shuttle around the resort door to door, and we used this to get to the grocery store on site and to the beach. All restaurants are well run, clean and with extensive menus. The Crepe Cafe at the beach is a must as is the Well restaurant if you like Sushi. Handy putt putt and kids playground with food and drinks and shady spots. Fun holiday for singles, families and retired people.

Great service, staff where very accomodsting. Our taxi from the airport took us to the wrong hotel. It is confusing as there is another building with a very similar name. We called the hotel who got a car to collect us straight away. The hotel is not far from the hotel but the hotel provides transport to and from the beach, and also provide sunbeds at the hotel along with towels. Great views from our room and lots of facilities, swimming pool, gym and spa. Good location too

Great location just ten minutes walk to the beach and ten mins to the supermarket. Three minutes to the Vale do Lobo reception area with gym and chemist on site. Outdoor area of villa very nice and spacious with great furniture and good sized pool. Loads of space indoors with good sized kitchen and large tables both indoors and outdoors. Sky TV and Netflix also very handy.
