Located right by the river and the bridge that connects the old town to the new, access to everything was wonderful. Our room with balcony was very comfortable and had views of the castle and the river. The breakfast buffet was varied, including both hot and cold foods and good bread and pastries. The front desk staff, especially Sara and Fatima, went way out of their way to make us feel welcome and pampered. The roof top terrace was a great place to hang out and absorb the views.

The staff was amazing! Bruno was at desk for most of my stay and was unbelievably helpful. From simple directions to walk to the aqueduct to helping plan to attend the Fatima’s pilgrimage. He called other Portuguese to get info to make sure my journey into the crowded pilgrimage would run smoothly. Recommended 3 great local restaurants and called ahead for me…. The other staff were also super nice. And the owner was a great and interesting guy. They’ve had some fun in the past two years with movies being filmed in tomar and fun Hollywood stars staying at the hotel. And other famous people

Tomar is a very attractive medieval city, seeped in history. The Convento de Christopher towers over the city and well worth a visit. The Central Park is beautiful with its river and trees is a lovely relaxing place. Plenty of restaurants all in walkable distance of each other. Further out of town is a six kilometre aqueduct built in the time of Philip 2nd of Spain. A marvel of medieval engineer.

Tiny small place. Clean bedding.
Tiny small place. Clean bedding. Quiet. 15 minutes walk from center.
I had to call a few times to get a reply where the key is.
Kitchenette, but:
No kettle for tea, no kitchen towel. Onky one mug.
No bath mat. Bath towels with bleach stains.

If you take the trouble to walk around Tomar, especially the old town, it is a fascinating place. It has an interesting square where the locals come out to socialise in the evening. There are a goodly number of restaurants, suitable for all budgets.

Beautiful, historical town with massive Templar Castle up the hill. That alone is worth the side trip form Lisbon or Porto. Many groups buses stop for a day but it is a rushed way to experience this place. I think two nights allows for a better immersion into its history. Castle alone takes few good hours, not counting the outdoor area. Great place to slow down and feel the old energy there. Town has plenty of coffee shops and nice eateries. Picturesque river runs right through the middle of town. Totally walkable town with quaint, clean streets with plenty places along the way to stop for a coffee, ice cream or a tasty bite. If you are there on a weekend you might get a chance to get a picture with a Templar knight!

Do not miss the aqueduct on the outskirts of town as you drive in - I've seen quite a few and the only better is the one in Segovia in Spain. This is a double decker that goes for half a mile, in terrific condition. I'm an aqueduct fan and this was worth a trip to Tomar by itself.
But there's more: the Templar chapel in the monastery at the top of the hill above the Praca Republica is one of those places where, just when you are beginning to feel like you've seen enough church stuff, you go holy smokes! I've never seen anything like this!
The town itself is cozy and warm, and it's worth a walk around to all the different churches and along the river. You can see everything in a day if you don't dawdle.

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese...
Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese countryside, Tomar is a captivating town steeped in history and brimming with charm. Renowned for its magnificent Templar Castle and Convent, Tomar offers a captivating blend of medieval enchantment and modern-day allure.
The Castelo de Tomar, or Tomar Castle, stands as a testament to the power and influence of the Knights Templar, who established their stronghold in Tomar in the 12th century. This imposing fortress, adorned with intricate carvings and architectural masterpieces, is home to the Convento de Cristo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
The Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of grand cloisters, chapels, and chapterhouses, each whispering tales of the Knights Templar's influence. The remarkable Cloister of Silence, with its serene atmosphere and intricate tracery, is a must-see for any visitor to Tomar.

Tomar Boutique Hotel was the perfect place in Tomar.
I spent two nights here on my pilgrimage walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela, since I wanted a full day to explore Tomar, especially the Convent of Christ which is just across the river and up the hill from the hotel. It was the perfect place to me, and the grandmotherly women in the reception was a nice break from the typical young receptionist wearing a suit. They were quite happy to advise on where to go to run various errands I had, and understood exactly what kind of state I was in, as a tired walker.
The lady at the desk was delightful and liked to talk to us. She was very helpful and even gave us a map of the area and then marked all the best places to go and where to eat. She even gave us some history of Tomar. The European-style breakfast was very good and filling. The rooms were dated, but clean and comfortable. Each room has its own air conditioner. The location is very near the old part of town where there are lots of eating joints and an ice cream shop.
The hotel is in a wonderful location, just around the corner from the Old Town and its attractions and about a 20 or so minute walk uphill to the Castle and Convent of Christ. We aren't very fit and are over 60 but managed the walk fine. The hotel is modern and while the rooms were a little small, they were fine for a short stay. The breakfast was good and great value. The staff were lovely, very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Tomar is such a pretty town.
The hotel decor is exceptional. The hotel is located in the heart of the tourist area, very close to the Tomar Castle. There are no staff on site, but keypads on the main door and room doors makes check-in very easy and secure. The hotel has a well-equipped kitchenette and good seating in the common area. My room was small but well-appointed; the bed was very comfortable, the shower had good water pressure, and the air conditioning worked very well.
We had a very warm welcome from Diana when we arrived and she made sure that we had everything we needed.
The hotel is recently refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms are clean, beautifully decorated and well equipped.
The pool by the river was perfect for a quiet place for a glass of wine and to cool your feet.
The location of the hotel is brilliant. Great access to the old town. We loved Tomar and we were so glad we booked to stay here.
The hotel is perfectly located in the city center, near beautiful parks and restaurants. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They showed me what to visit (and you definitely need to visit the city). The kitchen is huge and I also enjoyed the space to relax with the smooth music. The bedrooms are big and comfortable. I liked it so much that I extended my stay.
Thank you for everything, I had a wonderful time.
The hotel was amazing. My best hotel on the Portuguese Camino. I ended up getting injured on the Camino and had to stay a few days in this town unexpectedly. What an amazing town. What an amazing staff that works at this hotel. They were incredible taking care of me..my injury ..and anything I needed. I will always be grateful and when I go back to Tomar, I will definitely stay there. Highly recommended
Location: inside the old town, close to everything.
Bed: comfortable, soft “homefeel” linen.
Room: very spacious, light; really quiet, maybe because we were travelling during low season ( November )
Staff: polite, proactive, responsive;
excellent English.
Breakfast: outstanding!!!
(wish the like are served @ our domestic hotels)
Fabulous location in the heart of Tomar - public car park is super close (but try and travel with minimal luggage to carry to hotel)
We had a wonderful stay here, we were kindly upgraded to a suite room and it was simply beautiful!
Cannot fault this hotel and will definitely return here when we come back to this area.
We stayed for three nights at Tomarhousing and we were very comfortable. The apartment was clean, generous space for two people and the location was excellent. Tomar is great for walking and the apartment was close to shopping, restaurants and attractions. We recommend this property and we would stay again.
A rustic, spacious property, a short drive away from Tomar. Well equipped kitchen. Full size fridge freezer. The beds were comfy (we like hard beds). The shower water was nice and hot.
We had an access to the first floor patio with decent views. Friendly owner/care taker. Property's car park was nearby.
It is in a very quiet area with easy parking. The common space is wide and my room was spacious. As for breakfast, there was a huge variety. The host is a super nice and helpful person, available for a good conversation, not only about the history and life in Tomar, but also about different topics
Tomar is an incredible historical place to visit. Central Family Palace is the matching hotel. Built as a farm house in the 18th century it is located steps away from the train and bus stations and boasts great views of the castle. It’s a charming house with many original touches.
beautiful hotel in the historic part of Tomar. room was fantastic.
great staff (Joao was especially excellent)
lovely breakfast, honesty bar in the lounge area which I thought was a great touch.
Multi story (small with 3 levels) car park very close for €6 m/24hrs.
Fantastic
We like the historic building, the location in Tomar, the beautiful space and charming balcony. Everything was clean. The common areas were beautiful. The staff were kind, helpful, and very accommodating. Parking garage was nearby. There is an elevator.
The house is spacious, clean and very comfortable. Decoration is very cute. Nice renovation, the apartment had everything needed. The location is perfect and in the center of Tomar, walking distance to all attractions.
Excellent location with very helpful staff. Restaurant owned by the same people is next door and was one of the best meals we had in Portugal in 2 weeks. Swimming pool was very welcome at end of long day.
