The setting is magical, surrounded by forest but not far from the sea. The accomodation is a series of cabin-like rooms a short walk into the main lobby/restaurant area. There is a desk & bar area & plenty of cupboard space. The bed & pillows were very comfortable, and the deck & the views to the gardens outside very peaceful. The grounds are beautiful, including a fully labelled herb and vegetable garden. There are 2 pool areas, one for kids which is also a great idea. Transport can be arranged by golf cart to and from the restaurant but we enjoyed the walk. The breakfast was excellent, huge range of choices, and the dinners too, although it was pretty pricey. There is a separate spa centre and its a 10 minute drive into Comporta.

Completely misleading description, not on the Riverside as stated, no easy parking, extremely difficult to find. Room was extremely cold, no facilities, no kettle, no-one else in the property but not given a view. Listed as a luxury hotel, it is not. If I hadn't paid beforehand I would have asked for a huge discount. Dreadful place simply foul.

The aesthetics and the design concept are beautiful. The staff especially Phillipe around the pool area were exceptional.

The main pool was lovely, the breakfast is very good & the property is huge with villa's & rooms spread across a very large area, so the sense of space was very nice. The staff were attentive and tried hard, however there seemed to be a serious staffing issue, with some very new and totally inexperienced staff working alongside more experienced staff, along with an overall shortage of staff, resulting in not all services being offered.

Hotel da Barrosinha is situated on the edge of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, just 2 km from Alcácer do Sal.

I liked the decor. The pool was pleasant. The two glasses of wine I had were very tasty. We were provided with sandwiches and soup when the tavern was closed and there was going to be a long wait until breakfast.

Exceptionally well equipped kitchen. Very clean. Family room with one double and a bunk bed, sleeps 4. The shared bathrooms were tidy and clean. Lovely outdoors area with a view over fields and a horse / chicken paddock. Peaceful and quiet. Little playground next to the hostel.

Comporta is an amazing spot and we love it there. The hotel is really beautiful, the food was delicious, the surroundings and the way everything was set up is stunning and welcoming. You do feel you are in a small paradise. The pool area and the fire pits are just wonderful. The bed was incredibly comfortable and it was great to be able to have breakfast until 11am.
