Hosts were lovely and apartment was really clean. We liked the location as it was pretty centrally located on the island and getting onto the main roads from the apartment was quick. We always found a free parking space outside the apartment. We rented a car from Jorge and Tania which was a seamless experience, including to and from the airport. The apartment has nice vintage furnishings and the facilities were great. If you do stay, we can recommend the local restuarant Alma Latina.

The room was very clean with a great view of the city and the ocean. The staff was very helpful with everything we needed. The location is great, next to the ocean and in the center of Riberia Grande. The hotel has parking if you come by car. Big variety of options in breakfast. Casas do termo are about 2 km from Lagoa, and we didn't explore this small town well enough. The big Continente supermarket was easy to find (on the road from the motorway). The roads on São Miguel are on the whole very good and the traffic is light. There is a lot of agricultural traffic, however. Using this location as a base, we could easily explore the whole island by car and there are many things worth experiencing (views, villages, Ponta Delgada itself). It's an amazingly lush, green island. We would recommend it!

Lagoa is a quiet town in the middle of Sao Miguel.
Lagoa is a quiet town in the middle of Sao Miguel. It is a perfect location to stay in during your time on the island. The highway is close by and every spot on the island is reachable in under an hour. The town itself is not very interesting but I would recommend the community pools (Piscina de Lagoa) for a nice swimming day and the beachfront walkway for stunning views. Locals where not the most friendly people we encountered, but maybe that has to do with our time of travel (late may, beginning of june), just before the tourist season begins.

Nice small town strategically situated in the middle of the Southern coast. 17 min drive from the Ponta Delgada airport. Lagoa has some amazing restaurants, small beach, even a volcanology museum that one must visit!
