Seems like Zakopane has forgotten who pays their bills, and tourists will come anyway. Even bus drivers try to mess around with tourists. Three times they told me to get off at the wrong bus stop (too early), in one case causing me to miss the train, in another laughing because I had to walk 1km extra.
Next, people are trying to take advantage of you wherever they can, charging little extra, "forgetting" to give you change, steering you into expensive options etc. Keep that in mind.
If you can overlook unfriendly locals, the mountains are beautiful and hiking is great.

Zakopane has a lot to do in terms of hiking (when it's not totally snow covered). If you're into hiking, you can spent a week at the various parts of Tatry National Park. There are cultural events, too, though I'm not as certain as to how to find them.

Very nice mountains town with many hotels and many tourists attractions.
But is better go the outseason. 29.4. and 30.4. was great, because around 23C and sunny, clear. No wind, that was optimal weather to visit in working day, the next days from 1.5. it will be too many tourists there.
Best place to see Tatry mountains, go walk or linear train to Gubałówka (better buy ticket advance online).
There are also many attractions, views and restaurants.

Zakopane is a perfect place to stay before your mountain trips. You have plenty of places to spend a night in, to eat, and to buy what's needed. It is the core center of the transport connection to smaller villages/nature locations as well.
Don't stay only in Zakopane though! Go and see the natural beauty around you. Zakopane is a "port" to me, not the destination.
Very Very Very centrally located, all the activity in Zakopane is in a stretch of 2 kms and this sits right in the middle so you will not miss anything. The apartment is spacious and has great view of the mountains from the balcony. The kitchen is shared but is stacked enough so that you can manage to find two decent cups for coffee. The bathroom is specially spacious and especially nice after you come sweating from Skiing. Has good storage space for your clothes and a dedicated space for your skis and boots.
We absolutely loved this hotel. It was gorgeous, our suite was amazing, very clean, friendly reception staff, and the location was great, it is so close to the main street! The breakfast was included and some of the best food we've had while traveling around. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Zakopane. Especially if you have kids, there are 10:00pm-7:00am quiet hours, which was great for making sure our kid slept while we got to enjoy a cocktail on our suite's balcony.
It was such a cute house and was very cosy for the 4 of us. We got lots of tips from the owners regarding skiing and restaurants . We went to Bubuja Bistro twice as the food was so good . We also loved the gorgeous retired avalanche dog . I would avoid the local convenice store ABC if you can as prices seem to be double the rest of the shops and they have no prices on anything.
We loved Zakopane and would come back as soon as we can . It was great to be able to walk everywhere from the chalet
It is a great place to stay and rest away from the noise of the center of Zakopane. The owners are very friendly and polite. The room is very clean, and the sheets smell a nice soap. The bed is very comfortable. The place worth recommending due to the ideal location, 4 minutes to the bus stop. There are busses to the center of Zakopane and to Morskie Oko. Also, there is a supermarket nearby and place to eat(pizza and burger restaurant).

it’s a small hotel built from wood in Zakopane style which give a romantic feeling. the hotel have also his own restaurant where they also serve a good a la carte breakfast. the hotel is located near the centrum and close to public transport. also there is enough space to park your car in front of the hotel. The room was spacey with a big balcony and have a very good bed with a nice hard matras.
We have stayed here quite a few times and are always satisfied with the experience. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The parking is free, easy, and there's always lots of space available close to the hotel entrance, which is important for us. There's lots of variety at breakfast. Also, we enjoy the pool and jacuzzi. This hotel is always our first choice when staying in Zakopane.
The owener of the hotel is warmhearted. She introduced me the method of getting to Kasprowy Wierch and Morskie Oko, as well as recommended the main attractions in Zakopane. In addition, at the first day of my arrival at around 8 am in order to leave my luggage, she invited me to have a breakfast before going out. That makes me feel warm.

but the the younger ladies from house keeping and breakfast were very rude also the breakfast was terrible cheapest products used, not fresh, honestly the worst breakfast I’ve ever had in Poland wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody and will never come back. Stay away from this place.
Everything was perfect! The room was spacious and cozy. Breakfast was amazing with many selections. Staff were helpful in so many ways. the hotel's location is great and is close to shops and restaurants. We went skiing and drove 20-30 minutes to get to different slopes. I would highly recommend Aries Hotel for a ski vacation.

The staff was sooo kind and helpful, helped me book a ski lesson and drove me to the ski school! The geographical location is amazing, near the main Street but in a quiet area, near the buses station, the breakfast was great, the hotel very cute, I will definitely come back here if I go to Zakopane
This is a wonderfully charming place! The breakfast was ample and the use of the spa was a perfect way to end our day. Hotel staff is extremely accommodating and helped immensely when organizing a taxi to take us to Chocolowski on a rainy day. Next time in Zakopane, this will be our go-to lodging!

Zakopane is lovely town, full of restaurants. Skiing slopes are near, great aquapark, perfect conditions for cross country skiing. Hotel is in a perfect quiet place. Rooms are spacious, good breakfast, comfortable beds.
