Quiet. Peaceful. You get the pool (two btw) and the sea to yourself. Sea was sandy and even so it is not scary to swim.

So clean and the setup is perfect. Very simple process for check in. Leo the caretaker was wonderful and super helpful. It's basically a fully furnished apartment with absolutely everything you need. Chris and Jen were so helpful with suggestions for things to do etc. The location is in the town of Babak but super easy to find and close to everything.

We had a large group in our family 25+ the property was very accommodating ..
The location was perfect. It was just a short 3 minute tricycle ride from the ferry terminal. The staff were very friendly and accommodated to all of our needs. The food at the restaurant was also delicious and was affordable. The staff at the bar were nice and made the cocktails really well. The room was nice and clean and had basic but good amenities. The swimming pool was amazing and very clean, could stay there for hours! The little beach area was also nice but you have to wear slippers in the water as the rocks were very sharp. Only bad thing was the flashing light in the room which I’m sure was not normal. It was flashing every 5-10 seconds and was very bright and kept me up all night. Other than that, we had an amazing stay and will be back next time.

Unlike Davao, there's no traffic on Samal. That was a plus!
Unlike Davao, there's no traffic on Samal. That was a plus! The cell signal is very bad and making needed phone calls can be a problem. GPS is useless there as well. Most roads are not surveyed. Additionally, you might be on a paved road that turns to a dirt road and that could turn into impassable!
There are a few nice places to stay, but the difficulty and time of reaching Samal is really not worth the investment.
There are very few tourist attractions other than the beaches. Finding places that you want to go to eat can be a challenge as well. All in all, Samal is tipped to the primitive side of the scale.

Nice Island. Great for swimming, snorkelling, food.
Nice Island. Great for swimming, snorkelling, food. Not so good of you're used to normal beaches; each resort is blocked and around 20m wide, which is a great pity and almost stupid, it would've been much better to keep it like in Boracay.

Samal for me is relaxation and reflection.
Samal for me is relaxation and reflection. I enjoyed everything I experienced. From the boat ride, the birds, the water, the view, the fishes, the food, the singers, the people, the hospitality and the service. I'm so grateful for witnessing this.
Conveniently located as it’s just few minutes away from the Waterfront Hotel. Chemas offers free boat transfer which made the trip hassle-free. Chema’s by the sea has a rustic vibe. The nature’s landscape definitely added to its beauty and uniqueness. The pool is clean and the beach is nice to swim at when its high tide. The staff is the highlight of the place I would say. Approachable, friendly and well-trained. The food is also their strong asset, it is indeed worth the penny. All the meals we ordered are delish.
Transport from Davao (Insular hotel) on a speedboat was included which was very convenient and the experience was fun. The staffs were super accommodating and the place was surrounded by nature which was nice and peaceful. Food was delivered to the rooms (table outside the room) and the portions are reasonable. The bed was also an amazing size so no worries about somebody being too tall or too big for it.
Location if very far but the water is so clear compared to other beaches in Samal Island. It is not a white beach but it is very clean compared to a normal beach now a days. There were not much guest when we book so the resort was somehow exclusive to us. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
I came to Samal with my family. This place can cater to our big number which is about 14. The surrounding is very relaxing and really cozy. I book this place because it was very good value of the money I paid.
