Ascot Park Hotel, hotel in Invercargill

The 4-star Ascot Park Hotel is 3 miles from the city and less than a 15-minute drive from Invercargill Airport. Guests can dine at the on-site bar or restaurant, or by using the 24/7 room service.

The massive room was a real treat. I stayed in the older motel, but even though it was old, it was in great shape and the rooms super quiet.

Great auto museum and seeing Burt Munro’s bike at E Hayes Hardware. Also a trip out to Ōreti beach where he practised racing his bike and then onto Bluff and then Riverton, Colac Bay, Cosy Nook etc and onward to Gemstone beach was well worthwhile. These are all things you can do regardless of the weather.

Unfortunately the visitors centre was closed in 2020, so there was no information about what to see and how to achieve this. We were recommended to visit Stewart Island, apparently being the main attraction. You needed to book online but there was no information about the trip. At a cost of $200 each, rather expensive. Drove to Bluff to find out for ourselves, 30 kms but even less information. Very disappointing. Not much in the way of restaurants unless you are in to Asian food. One shopping centre, not much in it.

Nice flat walking, the new mall has all the usual shops plus some additional surprises. Shopping is great, streets very clean, Queens Park is lovely and well cared for and there is a lot of city centre development going on with improvements for locals and visitors alike. Amigos restaurant if you like chili and Mexican food is worth a try.

    Great city on the up.

Great city on the up. Good selection of eateries and things to do and see. Most attractions are fairly close to the centre, and the airport is 5 minutes from there. I can happily recommend Invercargill for a visit.

Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see.

Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see. Aside from the beautiful gardens, there are nice bird aviaries and farmyard animals. It's a great place for families with a nice playground and cafe. Bill Richardson Transport World is a highlight, along with Oreti Beach which Bert Munro used as a race track. Hubber's Emporium and E Hayes are fantastic shops with many interesting things to see. There is a nice new mall and we found some good places to eat

Queens Gardens are a must, especially at rose time.

Queens Gardens are a must, especially at rose time. Ascot dinner excellent though a bit pricey. I doubt anybody visits for he shopping ( e.g. one "mall " ) or eating out which is quite restricted.

A very nice place to be staying at in Invercargill if you’re wanting to be close to town but also want to be away from too much town noise. Very comfy bed, fantastic shower pressure, affordable, peaceful. Wifi is very fast too. Very clean and tidy, everything is working as they should. Friendly owners too. So much better than the hotels/motels in town. I Highly recommend this place 👍🏻👍🏻

Exceptional accomodation for a family of 4! We were pleasantly surprised by the high-quality premises (eg swipe card access, push-button light switches, full aircon, USB plugs etc.). We were impressed by the additional freebies such as the packets of toast, jam, butter; nescafe capsules (and machine); orange juice; chocolates. This is a luxury accomodation worthy of any location in NZ!

This is a brand new hotel in Invercargill and we highly recommend it for the highest standard of style, and quality. Breakfast delivered to our room was on time and good. We stayed during the week of the Burt Munro world motorcycle record holder and booked only a week in advance, so very pleased to be offered a place to stay with them.

Pretty good staff was welcoming and accommodating with breakfast and towels and parking space... it felt like staying in a low budget AirBnB - in a good way :) It would be much better if the rooms were deep cleaned at least once a month and bathroom were deep cleaned once a week - at the very least once a forthnight.

AAA+ host and accommodation. Exceptionally clean house with everything you could possibly ask for. Very comfortable beds. High quality fixtures and furnishings. Oh, and all that for a very reasonable price. Infinitely better than staying at a hotel or motel. Again, a AAA+ experience.

Loved the location right by Queens Park, the apartment was well equipped and perfect for a family travelling to Invercargill for the weekend. Added bonus, if you are into Parkrun, the event is in Queens Park and passes the motel.

I recently moved back to Invercargill from Perth and I wanted somewhere to stay, somewhere quiet and not too far away from home and I thought this would be the best choice. The family that lives/owns the hotel were very lovely.
