Lovely modern clean unit with good supplies and lots of room. We had a nice lookout and were walking distance to the New World which was next door. Also provided parking which was essential as we had classic cars.

A very strong, freezing wind was blowing, unfortunately, during my stay, which hampered my exploration of the Greymouth area. The library was well set up for Wifi and warmth. I was unable to find a cafe/restaurant with good food. Coffee was good. The iSite staff were friendly, and were able to answer all of my questions. I arrived on the TranzAlpine train, this journey was well worth while.

Global Village Travelers hostel was the most attractive of the six I stayed in during my visit to the West Coast. It was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Each bed of my female only dorm room had its own electrical outlet and light. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cookware. Lots of books and pamphlets in the common rooms about the surrounding area. I recommend it highly for solo female travelers!

Very good stopping pony to visit pancake rocks and the blow holes. We walked to the coal creek falls which was lovely. We drove to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Hokitika. Greymouth was okay but there is absolutely nothing to do when it’s raining. Its only a small town.. the big pils is it has no traffic lights!

We enjoyed eating at the Speights Ale House and having coffee at the Robert Harris Coffee lounge. Our stay at the Sundowner Motel was clean and spacious. Our hosts were helpful and this made our stay enjoyable. The information boards around the town were interesting to read as we walked around but once we had accomplished this there was not a lot else to do. We would have liked to hire a car and explore further a field but no one would allow us to hire a car for a day.

Greymouth itself is not very attractive but the coastal drive north to Punakaiki offers fantastic scenery, and Hokitika Gorge to the south will not disappoint. There’s a small restaurant in Greymouth called Sevenpenny which was very good, far better than the overpriced restaurant in our hotel.
I wish places like this didn't exist in New Zealand and men who could throw a woman out on the street at 11 pm didn't run hotels in such a beautiful country.
Don't make the mistake of staying in this terrible place. I was so scared and shocked when the owner shouted at me and refused to accommodate me, being racist and drunk. He said he didn't like my voice or my foreign accent. I also heard guests complaining about a bad smell in the rooms.
P.S. I never received a refund for that night.
Warm and beautiful bed and breakfast in a peaceful setting just minutes from heart of Greymouth. Owner is so welcoming and kind, Breakfasts are amazing while looking out over the garden full of birds. Golden retriever Chico greeted my kids and made them feel at home. Lodge has everything you need, with nice extras like the pool table, log fire in living room, guest kitchenette and TV room, and walking trails around Garden.
This was my second time staying here and I'd stay here every time I go to Greymouth.
From check in to check out the owners made it a lovely experience. They had a little calm dog walking around. The rooms are super clean and spacious (I got window bed with no bunk attached!!)
Location is amazing and the hostel was very welcoming for solo traveller's.
Outdoor lawn in the back too, 10/10 place
Lovely little motel although on a main road was quiet at night. A 10 minute walk from train station when taking the Tranz Alpine from Christchurch. Room was large with a full kitchen. Appliances and bathroom facilities clean and new. Bed very comfortable. Continental breakfast very nice. Hosts helpful and kind. Enjoyed our overnight and good value for money.
This is a family operated business for over 70years. It is located on the main road out of Greymouth heading south but traffic noise was minimal. The rooms are a good size with all amenities. The restaurant was excellent on both nights we were there. Bernie , the owner, was an excellent host. Recommend this hotel to all discerning travellers.
The Sundowner is my "go to" first choice in Greymouth. It's a "CCC" property ... comfortable, clean & convenient and the owners Abby & TJ are very helpful. Sometimes simple is just better than elegant, so unless they have no vacancy that's where I like to stay ...
The owner was very friendly, welcoming and had great local information.
We were upgraded to the zebra room. It was very comfortable and I loved the theme.
What a great little town Greymouth is. Wish we had stayed longer.
Great if you want to get away from busyness. Close to beach to look for greenstone. View of ocean from room was very relaxing. Cooking facilities were sufficient for us to cook dinner with supplies we bought in Greymouth
The staff was excellent--especially the person who checked us in, showed us around, worked at the bar and restaurant, and checked us out. She was a joy! The hotel is located next to a beach and had a full restaurant.
Very clean, good friendly
Staff.
Food was excellent. A real treat.
I had fish and chips the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was very crispy and clean.
I would highly recommend this Hotel.
The room was fine and the bathroom was good. It was easy to park the car next to the room. The place is easy to find, on the main road just north of Greymouth.
