Very comfortable place to stay. I presume in the summer with children it would be excellent.

The host Hans is very welcoming and accomodating. The room was so clean and spacious and very nicely decorated. Every day it would be cleaned and amenities topped up. We loved having a coffee machine in the room and a balcony over looking the main street. The location is perfect with the main strip of resturaunts about a minute walk away. Thanks very much!
The city centre is small. Plenty of cafes/restaurants - many situated in the side streets away from the tourist square. Felt totally safe and the buses are easy and plentiful. As well as the centre there are some excellent walks in forest and by the river.

A small city but with all you expect from the Netherlands: A windmill in the inner city, wide rivers, green countryside, an old town with a loud church bell, a beach right next to the Rhine and especially a young student town with a flourishing university.

Wageningen is a lively little student town, with plenty of shops, good restaurants, outdoor cafés, a theater and a cinema.
Though severely damaged in WWII you can still see a number of ages old buildings witnessing the cities long history.
The hotel is on top of the woody Wageningse Berg overseeing the river Rhine and many miles into the flat river landscape on the other side. With a little ferry you can travel accross the river.
Worthwhile are the Arboretum and Hotel De Wereld where WWII eneded in the Netherlands with the surender of the german troops in the Netherlands to the allied forces.

Even though Wageningen is not as big as Arnhem or Utrecht, it is a fun and laid back place to visit, mainly because of its WW2 history and great location near the Rhine river. I would highly reccommend taking a walk on the dike or the river banks. The Arboretum botanical gardens are also worth a visit and will give you a great hilltop view over the river.
Best coffee in town: Columbus!!
Best food: My Asia (Thai); Drinks and Bites (European), Diels restobar (European).
Getting around Wageningen is easy by bike or waling. You can rent cheap bikes at the bus station ( they are caled Keobike) or at most bike repair shops,

Wageningen has a University.
Wageningen has a University. We were there for the PhD graduation of our daughter. We spent the night at Fletcher's. It is a great place, located near the botanical gardens. Absolute recommendation.

Great small city at the river and on the doorstep of the old forests in Holland. Beautiful area for bicycling and walking and for a small place a great offer of pubs, small cinema and a cozy shopping street. Market days on Wednesday and Saturday bring people from the smaller towns nearby and plenty of food stalls. Cheap bicycle rental (5 euros per day) and fairly cheap restaurants offer simple dinners. Try the Wageningen meatball at the butcher with cheese and bacon. I drive a few hours just for the taste of that! The candy shop in the middle of the street always has great offers and the hot chocolate with whipping cream at the Hema on the first floor is a good treat.
