Breakfast was excellent. All staff were charming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble - I couldn't get Netflix to work initially an a member of staff came to the room twice to sort things out successfully.

The room I stayed in (#13 in the annex) was on the top floor, a spacious apartment with a view on the front side, a balcony on the back, equipped with full appliances, just great !!

The breakfast was excellent - breads, yoghurt, plenty of fruit.
The location is fantastic - in a quaint, period building with lots of old pictures and a room stuffed with old Dutch period items.
The bathroom was fine.
Hortance was very helpful as she was servicing a group of us who traveled there for work. We appreciated her flexibility in allowing 2 other couples in our group, staying in a different hotel, to eat breakfast there (for a reasonable fee).

Doesn't look much when you get off the train - but beautiful old Dutch city with excellent laid back feel. It has everything you'd expect - cheese shops - top quality restaurants - river views.
Wish we'd have had more time.

The conditions at hotel and the room were exactly the same as in the offer. There was a breakfast included in the price and it was good enough. I would recommend the hotel as it is quite good for price of the entire stay.

Go to the VVV to buy some walking booklets, or just wander around and enjoy the unique shops and nice restaurants. Parking is even free at 'De Worp' when you take the short ferry. The old buildings are a joy to watch, and the local brewery DAVO is also highly recommended.

After a few days in busy Amsterdam, Deventer was truly a nice surprise. It's an easy train ride from Amsterdam and the main square is just a short walk away. This is truly a wonderful laid back old town with great architecture, great restaurants/bars and shops and very friendly people. We rented a car there for our second day and drove to Kroller Muller Museum in the Veluwe National Park both of which are well worth a visit. The museum has the second largest Van Gogh collection and the park is quite beautiful, full of hiking trails and bike paths (you can rent bikes there). On the way back we stopped in another gem of a town, Zutphen for a walkabout and and a late lunch. It's much like Deventer but on a smaller scale. Both towns are well worth a visit.

My wife was born in nearby Gorssel and grew up in Deventer. The town had grown but in a good way. Nice people, good restaurants and interesting things to do in this historical area. Also, the movie "A Bridge Too Far" was filmed here.

Such a nice feel to this historic city.
Such a nice feel to this historic city. Narrow streets, lots of cute shops and places to eat and drink. Absolutely loved it!!!
Deventer Citystays offers a superb room right in the city centre but in a quiet street.
Free parking across the Ijssel and lovely trip across the river by boat.
The apt is nicely appointed, with a well equipped kitchen in a cabinet (!!) and lots of little special treats left in the frig and cupboard to make life a little easier, AND much tastier. PLUS important during summer - it had AC!! The hosts were off-site, but answered email inquiries immediately and were very helpful. it was walking distance to a grocery and a couple of take-away fast food restaurants and only 10 minutes to one of the main squares in town. Lovely place to enjoy Deventer from!
The location is perfect for a city trip. The building is very beautiful. Good breakfast and clean rooms. The courtyard is lovely to sit in on a warm day. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
It's refreshing to find a hotel that isn't packed with disposable soap and shampoo packages, but uses dispensers in the bathroom.
I love coffee and tea in my room, for that first cup in the morning, before you go down for breakfast.
Unbelievable service.
Peter was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to going back to the Royal hotel.
It has a lovely atmosphere. Situated perfectly in the centre of town.
It has a kind of charm that is completely lacking in modern hotels.
Great coffee and a nice breakfast.
Can't praise the place or the staff enough.
A+++++
The place itself, it truly felt like at home.
The location, in a village, yet so surprisingly close by to the old centre of Deventer (with the ferry boat).
The room, cosy, old style, yet comfortable. No TV (+++!).
The owner, friendly, helpful, reserved at the same time, a perfect combi.
The breakfast! B&B in its full sense.
Free and easy parking.
The location is perfect!
The owner is also very good. He showed us a map what can we do in Deventer and what can we eat. He explained it very well. It was super helpful. The house is very special. I really like the style.
A real gem, beautifully located in the heart of Deventer. We spent a wonderful anniversary weekend there. We felt well taken care of by Shen and the team, and the apartment was equipped with everything we could wish for.
It's a very imaginative conversion of a bank ... The toilets are in the vault ... to a charming thoughtful and very personal hotel. The staff a friendly and the whole place filled with nice little touches
Beautiful space, very new and it has everything you need. The location is super central and everything is walking distance. We would highly recommend staying here if you are in Deventer for a weekend.
The hotel can easily be reached by car or bike. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the interior is modern and well thought trough. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help out.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. They catered for our food intolerance well. Hotel was historical and amazing architecture. We will definitely return.
