XO Hotels City Centre, hotel in Amsterdam

XO Hotels City Centre is set in 10 monumental townhouses, around the corner from the lively Dam Square and Warmoesstraat area. It offers accommodation with flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms.

It's a nice hotel, very much in the city center which has its advantages and disadvantages. It's located in an obviously old building, which makes the layout a little complicated. I feel like it's overpriced for what it is. Regardless, i had a pleasant stay, and the staff was very nice and very helpful.

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Centre with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Light District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cosy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the centre of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

I was there purely to meet my Peruvian goddaughter and her sister (both at university there) which is the only reason I would go to Amsterdam. I'm extremely well travelled (been to about 80 countries) so know a lot of the world's big cities. Amsterdam has to be one of the most boring in the world. Yes, there are the twee bits inside the Inner Circle - and that's it. The rest is just suburban sprawl comprising rectangular buildings of astonishingly boring design. And the centre is largely dead after 10pm. I have two Amsterdam guide books and each struggles to name 10 highlights in the city - that says it all. If you've never been, 2 nights is all you need. I'm praying that my goddaughter and her sister move to Madrid!

I visited Amsterdam some times before and the city has become less attractive in my view: garbage on the streets, sidewalks that need repairing, drunken/stoned people, too much coffee shops. Still, the canals and the facades of the houses are beautiful, the city itself is a gem, and the staff in restaurants, shops and hotels are almost always very friendly.

Amsterdam is a captivating blend of history, art, and vibrant culture. Strolling along the picturesque canals, you’ll be enchanted by the charming gabled houses and quaint bridges that reflect the city’s rich heritage. The Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum showcase world-class art, while the lively atmosphere of the Jordaan district invites you to explore its boutique shops and cozy cafés. Cycling through the city offers a unique perspective, allowing you to experience both the serene parks and the bustling streets. The aroma of freshly baked stroopwafels wafts through the air, tempting you to indulge in local treats. As evening falls, the soft glow of lights along the canals creates a magical ambiance. Overall, my visit to Amsterdam is a delightful journey through a city that effortlessly blends tradition with modernity, leaving a lasting impression on every traveler.

Amsterdam is a very walkable city with great museums and cozy "brown bars." However, it is also very busy with tourists. Be sure to book your museum visits well in advance. Learn how to use the trams ahead of arrival (i.e. scan ticket getting on and off).

Amsterdam is a city full of culture and history.

Amsterdam is a city full of culture and history. Rijks museum and Van Gogh Museum are a must for an art lover, both collections are beyond impressive! And the city itself has its unique face. Also, for those who would like to add some spice to their experience - there's the Red Light District :) Eating is no brainer - cafes and bars along with street food outlets are everywhere. Something to keep in mind - public transport rides are paid by contactless credit/debit cards right on the car, so be ready. When riding a tram/streetcar you must scan your card twice, upon entering and leaving.

Amsterdam is a beautiful city and I would have liked to stay longer. Transport to other cities such as Rotterdam and Utrecht is easy and convenient. The cafe culture is very enjoyable and the city is very multicultural while maintaining a Dutch cultural feel. For music lovers the Concertgebouw with its marvellous acoustics is not to be missed. I had a very delicious and authentic chicken biriyani down the road from there. Dutch customer service is quite unique.

Fantastic central location, close to Westerpark with plenty of pubs and restaurants. Bus stops close by to take you further into the city center. If travelling by car, we recommend parking for 1 euro a day at P+R car park Bos en Lommert. Only condition is you have to take the bus outside car park to the city, but it's easy and cheap and the bus stops 150 m away from this hotel. Same when picking up the car. Do this and parking in Amsterdam costs 1 euro a day!

Value for money, five minutes by train to Amsterdam Central, decent size rooms and comfortable, if you need a comfortable bed and don’t mind the daily commute to the city centre it’s a good option at a reasonable price, little 24hr snack shop at the hotel is great when you need a nibble or a drink for the room, pleasant staff, food at the resturant is not badly priced

Liked the quirky room. Realize when you book it’s a national monument and this does not allow for standard rooms. For me this made it unique and very home like. for rates in amsterdam, this is a fairly cheap way to stay right in the city centre; staff was friendly; the 'rooms' are very spa for a hostel and it is nice to be able to lock the door behind you and have your peace (unlike shared rooms in 'normal' hostels ;) )
