What a welcoming place! Several options for breakfast and they were all tasty. Our laundry was done for us without an extra fee. It was walking distance to scooter rentals. beaches and restaurants. We were given a bigger room than the one we booked as there were no other guests.

Big Corn Island is very interesting, people do not stay long but after a week you discover new things. We only found out the bakery a few days before leaving. There are several food options but we liked Relax Restaurant the best. Spekitos is good too but when they are busy the waiting time is very long, we waited 1 hour once. Taxi rides are 20 colones no matter where you go so make your journey worthwhile. Taxis are shared which is lovely to get to know the locals. There are a few larger supermarkets where you can stock up on fruits and veggies. The smaller shops (Pulperias) have only the basics, which include delicious cornbread.

It is a really nice island, somewhat underdeveloped, which I consider a plus. You will not find crowds of tourist over there.
It has 3 main beaches: Arenas (west) which seems very calm at all times (hardly any waves), Long bay (east), which can be somewhat rough at times of strong wind from east or rain, but other than that waves are manageable.
The beach oposite Paraiso Beach Hotel is small and a bit close to the port, but the water seem clean enough to bathe or swim.
Moving around is very easy - taxis will take you anywhere on the island for 20 cordobas.
If you like fish, you can buy it at the port at good price and cook in your homestay.

The supermarkets are really small, barely anything in them, difficult but not impossible if you are use to big supermarkets, lots of restaurants, and tons of even small street vendors. Very few it's more of a third world setting, like buying and trusting meat off street not refrigerator, no deli section, fruits and vegetables section, cold cuts are limited to salami, I looked in the freezer of the biggest supermarket and all I really saw, was hotdogs. Even ometepe had a pali supermarkets. However the beaches are beautiful all around the island. Plenty of shops to buy electronics and household stuff. But eating can be a task. I did not go to little corn so not sure of setup.

Will be going back.
Will be going back. This place was idyllic and absolutely stunning. Like something out of a postcard. Definitely go for lobster at the Sea Side Grill!!! Can’t stress that enough. Or order chicken fajitas at Arenas beach.

Corn Island is amazing.
Corn Island is amazing. It's not like other places where you can only stay in the resort. You can actually visit other places on the island and feel safe. The locals will advise you where to go and not go. Just stay on the main roads and you'll be fine. Oh yeah, you will definitely get your money's worth.

Love Big Corn Island and is still very local.
Love Big Corn Island and is still very local. Wish there were better options in terms of island tours and other types of activities outside of snorkeling/water sports i.e. horseback riding and better spa services. The seafood is excellent. Highly suggest visiting if you want to relax and enjoy a virgin beach.

The couple who own the hotel could not have been more friendly and more helpful. A taxi was arranged from the airport at their expense. Lovely beachfront property. Modern clean double room with ceiling fan nice en suite bathroom. Balcony to watch the waves. As soon as we started talking about our ongoing journey the phone was picked up to arrange a taxi and find out the boat prices, times and all information we required. Really enjoyed our stay and were even treated to a fresh coconut and a chat on our departure waiting for a taxi.
staff was excellent, food was very good at a very affordable price. Mike (owner) was always arrounnd to assist with questions and suggestions. Rented a scooter from them, at a very fair price and was able to explore the whole island. Got sick one day and the restaurant staff were very acomodating, made me a chicken soup eventhough it was not on the menue and the hotel staff found me some meds after hours when everything was closed. will definitely return. Thank you Mike and staff for an excellent stay!
We booked a bungalow and it was not only spacious but modernly decorated. There was hot water and AC and the bed was very comfortable. We slept extremely well. Good breakfast is included and the restaurant has very quick service. Great location at shipwreck beach and only a short walk to the best beach on the island Arenas. The hotel set up a Mani Pedi for me while I was there. We checked in a day early at 8 am and they got it room ready within an hour. Overall we really enjoyed this property.
The hotel was in front of the beach so you get a very nice view and since it is located on the north shore, the water is very calm and very nice to swim in. The host, Nubia, was very sweet and was very helpful. She also gave us her recommendations while we were on the island. The room was bigger than in pictures and was very clean. It is honestly very cheap for the quality and the service of the room. I would definitely recommend this place.
This little apartment is perfect in every way. The location is fantastic- definitely one of the prettiest spots on the island. There’s a dive shop two minute walk away and a beautiful beach for snorkeling a five minute walk in the other direction. Lots of nice places to eat close by but with everything you need to cook for yourself you won’t have to spend all your money on meals!
The hostess is so gracious too.
We will be back!
The hammocks around the bedrooms and property were the best. I also greatly appreciated the early check-in and help scheduling the taxi to the airport. For some reason I expected hot water for the price, but this hotel did not have hot water in the showers. Other than that my stay was comfortable, but there's cheaper locations with a similar value proposition.
The beach was directly in front of the hotel, amazing views. My first experience with the hotel was with Courtney, the driver who took me from the airport to the hotel. He was super nice and also took me and my family around the island to various locations. His level of hospitality was amazing, for this reason, I’d highly recommended this hotel.
Nice location, very friendly people. The room is well equipped and cozy. All the most important things were good. Some locals came to sell fresh homemade patties/empanadas at our door, which we liked. Also the hotel offers a meal service by pre order, although we didn't realize that until too late on our last day because nobody told us.
Constanza was the perfect host during my short stay, from giving general tips to helping me choose where to go for dinner (they have a restaurant on site, but you have to book in advance). My room was spacious and clean. The hotel is only a short walk away from Pic Nic beach.
I appreciated the friendly owners who were quick to accommodate our request for extra pillows, and the proximity to the beach, which provided a soothing ambiance with the sound of waves. The hotel's affordable price of $55 per night was an attractive feature as well.
The huts were cute, rustic, safe with security guy roaming around, and nicely spaced apart and the property was on the beach directly which I love. there is a lovely little bar restaurant onsite and everyone who works there is super sweet and friendly and helpful.
We only had 1 night here but it is a very nice place to stay for a longer time on Big Corn Island. The host was very friendly, she helped us with laundry and there was food in the fridge for preparing breakfast. She also had the cutest dogs and kittens!
The staff, location, grounds and hotels were awesome, but it's unfair to rate it during COVID. The pump was broken in the pool, so they gave me a 20-per-cent discount. I was the only one staying there (there are 21 rooms)
The people that own this are so unbelievably sweet, and my stay was so perfect. This is one of my new favorite little corners of the earth, I’ll remember my days here for a very long time and I hope to be back so soon.
Beautiful rustic property built by the owner - an interesting lady with an even cooler story! Sadly we missed the renowned pasta. Make sure you make a reservation for it - everyone on both islands speak of it.
