Alor Star is a pleasant regional centre with some fine public buildings and an interesting old quarter. The open space in the centre of town with the Zahir mosque on one side and various royal buildings and museums on the other provides some excellent photo opportunities. There is a surprising amount of street art, some of it very good, and a pleasant canal-side walk starting in the centre of town. I came across an excellent night food market with stalls offering a range of local and international dishes.
The Kedah Paddy Museum is billed as one of the attractions of Alor Setar, but I found it a bit disappointing. It is a long way out of town; if you don't have your own transport, getting a taxi or Grab back to the centre could be a lottery.

We enjoyed our lunch at Gulai Temenung Tok Piah Claypot located at Kuala Kedah. Restoran Kak Milah Jitra Kedah has variety of dishes for lunch with gulai ikan keli and ikan bakar. We had our dinner at Man & Milah Medan Selera Ikan Bakar which also located at Jitra, Kedah

I like to stay in Alor Setar because there is so many interesting place to go and explore. The food is so delicious and cheap. the pupils so kind and helpfull. The paddy view is so nice and i will come back again.

Delicious local food. Fresh seafood, Hot & spicy is my favourite especially sambal belacan. perghh powerfull!!
Shopping place - Padang Besar about 1.5km from Alor Setar, Pekan Rabu & Tanjung Dawai (ikan bilis,ikan masin,belacan,pekasam,etc)
Tips : Do the listing of place and make a plan before you go there, sometimes mr google maps will bring you to unexpected way. its will bring you 5 to 6km sawah padi small road (just enough 1 car size) and you will be panic in the paddy bendang. :) :)

Great small town charm, with quite a number of nice Malaysian comfort food restaurants .

- Unit is so beautiful with aesthetically pleasing design and meet our expectation like in the picture
- Unit is same level with swimming pool and gym
- Owner kindly enough to provide enough amount of towel, mat prayer and sign for Qibla
location is good, walking distance to quite a few tourist attractions. We coming during Puasa period, has problem to park car during meal time, but after meal it's okay. The staffs of hotel are really friendly and helpful. Hotel has provide breakfast, during Puasa(maybe because of COVID), have American breakfast and Nasi Lemak to choose, decent, big portion and taste not bad. Of course there are many breakfast choice at Alor Setar.
I was travelling with my elderly parents. Staff was attentive and accommodating to their needs. They provided extra blankets and placed us on the same floor as per request. They even text us to check if we need any further assistance.
Hotel is new and clean. A walking distance to Aman Central, Ukir Mall, Pekan Rabu etc. Very convenient.
Definitely there will be a next time for us to stay there.
I like everything from checking in to the hotel room and location. The ladies at the checking in counter was amazing and had amazing hospitality. They were nice. Everything went smoothly and the hotel room is big and cosy. Given level 13, i had the beet view of Alor Setar. It was lovely and wonderful
The location is superb.. walking distance to aman central, alor setar tower, zahir mosque and other tourist attraction.. ukir mall just 3 to 5 min drive.. all the basic amenities are provided as stated.. can refill drinking water from coway water dispensers on each floor.. very good innitiative! 👍
My kids love the swimming pool and the badminton court. Dont forget to bring swimming clothes, cap is a must. Cap is available at the shop in the hotel for RM6.

We had previously stayed in Urban Inn Sungai Petani and had a comfortable stay. Decided to try Urban Inn Alor Setar for another trip and were very satisfied with the value for money. Particularly liked the Coway water filter and comfortable beds!
1) Strategic location at the centre of attraction : only walking distance to Alor Setar shopping Mall (Aman Central) & Alor Setar Tower, Masjid Zahir & also Kedah Royal Muzium
2) Ample Parking lots.
3) Nearby to many restaurants & massage center.
Its run down..needed much revamp…the fittings are from previous hotel operator meaning they are at least 10yrs old..saying that stillI think this hotel has a potential to be one of top hotel in Alor Setar…like it used to be.
The soundproof is probably the best as compare to some other hotels in the city that we stayed in the past. The bed & pillow are reasonably comfy. In summary, the room does meet the expectation for quality sleep.
homestay's owner prepared nasi lemak lemuni for breakfast. It's taste so good. the owner is kind and friendly. will come back to this homestay if go to alor setar again. thank you for the excellent service.

Strategic location at the center of Alor Setar city. You can easilly reach by walking distance to the nearest point of interest. You can also used Grab Car if you like to.
They sanitized my luggage & also regularly sanitize the lobby. The staff was friendly. Hotel near Aman Central & convenient shop. View from the room I get is superb.
