Incredible location, super friendly hosts, delicious breakfast in the morning, very cute and comfortable cabins. A highlight for us was the free use of the kayaks and paddle boards, which we did everyday!

We liked the Hotel Rio for it's location close to the Belize border, as we were crossing into Belize the next morning. The border is only a coiuple of minutes drive away. Secure parking, a small swimming pool, nice yard and quiet location. The bed was comfortable, shower was good, and the hotel was easy to find.

This is a large room that is roughly finished and low water pressure but a/c is good and wifi is good in the evening but very spottyin the day...that being said, it has large windows and the room opens up to a 200 Sq foot balcony with a table, chairs and a hammock that is brilliant at sunrise...also is close to the lagoon and 2 entrances for 3 to 4 dollars give you lagoon access...kitchen is viable for breakfast and water is provided

This was such a relaxing getaway. The location is perfect, just a short ride away from town and set right in the lagoon for all day swimming. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive! The buffet breakfast is fantastic and there are lots of delicious options. I will definitely be back!

Not the lagoon everyone is talking about (Bacalar) but it’s close enough (20 min by car).
It has the same color features as the other one and it’s great to swim in.
Hire a kayak and you can venture into the small river on the west side… you won’t see a soul on it, it’s all mangrove so need to be very respectful of the surroundings, it’s as wild as it gets.
