Ciudad Valles is a good home base if you want to travel to the surrounding waterfall of Tamul. There is everything you would expect to find in a bigger city such as restaurants, bars, hospitals, etc. Many people stay here when traveling around to see the different waterfalls in the Huasteca region. I would recommend staying closer to whichever place you will be in, since it can be about 1-3 hour drive from Ciudad Valles to each different area; however.. some of these other areas are smaller towns and don’t have the things I mentioned previously. My favorite spot to stay in is Hostel Casa Huasteca, favorite place to eat is El Wacal, which is right around the corner from the hostel. Locals advise against going out at night.

Good location, for those on a long trip may visit on the way this city which has amazing San Luis Potosi coffee at Jacalito Café, may purchase good quality organic products at Raices, or find vegetarian mexican food and vegan smoothies at Kubos Jugos.

Quiet moderate sized city.
Quiet moderate sized city. It's a great base for the surrounding nature... waterfalls, Xilitla Surrealist Gardens, river sports. Easy bus ride from airport in Tampico. The motor coach was comfortable and showed a dvd on the 3 hour ride. Tacos Rojos are a specialty of the region... delicioso!
best place to stay in Ciudad Valles. Just a few walking minutes away from the center. Clean & comfortable room, hot water and parking lot included. the owners were great, treated me like a friend and invited me for burger & beer in the evening and gave me a lot of recommendations. Would always stay here again when I’ll come back to ciudad valles
If you want to visit huasteca potosina, dona adelina house is a perfect choice to stay. There is a possibility for parking behind a closed gate. Rooms are clean and large with a big comfy bed. We had a warm welcome with good explanation about visiting the waterfalls. Next to the hotel there is a street with 3 good restaurants.
Excelente Casa Aura is really excellent. We enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable, spacious, in a safe area with a parking place directly in front of the house and easy to access. It has everything to feel like home and the communication was perfect. Probably the best place to stay in Ciudad Valles.
We couldn't find the hotel, it wasn't marked, and there were some communication issues with the host. The phone number on Booking didn't work.
When we actually got there, everything was ok and the host provided everything we asked for.
