We would high recommend the company “BOAT SAFARI IN KOGGALA” as a fab & knowledgeable company to do a boat trip around Koggala lake. They were so knowledgeable about plants, wildlife and the islands. A fascinating 2 hrs. We would definitely recommend. They can organise tuk tuks to get you there and back also.

Ahangama town has changed from a very busy fishing village...
Ahangama town has changed from a very busy fishing village to a hotspot in the south of Sri Lanka. And that at a rapid pace. There are many new and good restaurants, parties on the beach or in rooftop bars. The quiet time is over. For travellers seeking peace and quiet, the inland of Ahangama is more suitable. But here, too, there is a tendency towards more posh hotels with DJs in the evening and overpriced food and coffee - unfortunately.

Ahangama is a totally calm and peaceful and crowed less seashore metropolis with majestic palm trees all round it. there is no sound apart from the waves hitting the shore and swaying of the timber making it ideal for a chilled holiday.
A small city in Southern Province, Ahangama is a mystery treasure in Sri Lanka. recognized for its pristine beaches, glowing waters, and picturesque landscapes, this town is indeed one of the maximum beautiful ones in the united states. although it isn't completely developed, it's far effortlessly available thru Galle, a first-rate metropolis that lies only 20 minutes from Ahangama. This metropolis, being the epitome of serenity, is certainly one of the right getaways within the country.
Ahangama overlooks the cultured Weligama Bay, that is a occurring place within the town. The famous tuk-tuk takes passengers from the primary city to the Bay. Weligama is the significant surfing spot, browsing being one of the predominant points of interest of Ahangama. apart from browsing, Wellingama offers beachside stores, restaurants, shacks, and bars.

Ahangama was epic!
Ahangama was epic! We stayed at a spot called Tharanga surf villa. Seriously great location on a great beach that has waves for all skill levels of surfers. You can hire a board or get a lesson through the hotel even if you like. The breakfasts are incredible and give you a taste of local cuisine. The room is comfortable and all you need - the aircon is a big plus! When the power goes out in the area they have a generator so that’s cool. The people who own and run it are so friendly and helpful. Try hire a scooter to get around to all the different beaches if you’re staying for a while. There are loads of places to eat - try the local places they’re cheaper and their food is super tasty! We ate at a variety of local places and got Kotu and curry. Don’t go to the western owned places and pay triple the price! Try a little spot on the beach just past Open Heart cafe (which also has a great view at sunset) I don’t know the name unfortunately.

Ahangama is a busy town within 30 minutes drive to Galle, Galle Fort or Unawatuna to the North, and to Midigama, Weligama and Marissa to the South.
So many restaurants/bars within and close to Ahangama, often with live music.
Tuk tuks are cheap and taxis easily available for longer drives.
sachintha is a brilliant host. The hotel is well equipped, sparkling clean and with one of the best beds I have slept while visiting Sri Lanka. Restaurant is really nice,Really help full staff .the breakfast is very tasty and generous and also they have wood oven pizza.it’s really tasty. The location is perfect, as is walking distance for city center ,beach and kind of surf points.The accommodation is so quiet, we spent one nights and had a very good sleep. was brilliant, always there to help. Thanks!

Great place. Very nice, cosy hotel, specious rooms, direct at the ocean in front of the Sticks surf spot. From the garden you can also see The Rock- surf spot. Pleasant, clean swimming pool. Delicious breakfast and good restaurant. But most of all- great staff, always helpful, attentive and smiling. I was supposed to stay 4 days and stayed almost a month. Definitely this is my place to stay in Sri Lanka.
Tropical vibes is such a nice family place to stay in !! They are so caring and makes you feel at home instantly :) the house is not on the main road (lot of traffic) so it’s quiet and in the nature 🌴

The location is perfect, right by the sea and walking distance from cafes like Cactus or Marshmallows - you can choose to walk town side or walk on the beach to reach those amazing cafes. It is also walking distance to the public beach and the staff went above and beyond to my staff comfortable.
I also have the best massage in Sri Lanka so far at the spa, ask for Devi, she has magic hands.
Very friendly family. They gave me a free upgrade because the smaller room I'd booked was not available. Good location only some metres from the beach. To the surf rentals it's a 10 min walk. I didn't feel disturbed by the train, even thought it's cool somehow 🙂

Lovely hostel. The owners are so nice. There was no atm close by so the owner drove me on his scooter. This café is lovely too and the chef makes the best kottu I've eating in Sri Lanka! You can eat with a view on the ocean. The beach in front of the house is beautiful and not very crowded. A lot of people staying here are long term guests that surf.
This hotel it’s like a family hotel.
They are really kind and help the travelers in all aspects.
They have also moto for rent but I didn’t know how to drive Hashan (manager) taught me how to drive a moto.
Breakfast is huge and cool with a lots of fruits.
He also have some recommendations as how you can travel more cheaper.

Placed on the beach and on the main road, but all rooms look on the ocean so you don't hear the road. Just the sound of waves. Small private(i'm not sure it's private but usually out of people) beach. 2 surf spots available right from the hotel. And hotel placed in the middle of Midigama - Kabalana most attractive surf spots of Sri Lanka.
This property is just the perfect spot, right in the middle of Ahangama amongst all the new hot spots, immaculately kept property with a gorgeous garden & private beach.

This was one of our best stays in Sri Lanka - the house is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and Denis and Jazz were super friendly and helpful hosts. The location is perfect, very close to many nice surf breaks and restaurants in Ahangama. We would love to come back one day and stay with them again.
A great location next to beach area. Most important, I loved staying with Guruge and his family. They treated me as their own son through out my stay. It was unexpectedly very pleasant experience!

They have the best pool table! This hostel is one of the only ones in Sri Lanka with a local owning the place! He’s such a kind soul with a great sense of humour! They do beach cleanups here and fun pool tournaments with the locals! The location is great for surfing! So many breaks nearby!
