This family-owned property is located in the colonial part of town and about a 10 minute walk to the center. I recommend an upgraded room in the newer 2-story section: big, bright, large windows, AC, nice bathroom and TV with Netflix. The English-speaking owner was helpful, but the non-English-speaking staff less so. (Don’t think the town or hotel gets a lot of Western visitors; surprisingly there is a French restaurant and a fancy wine shop!) The breakfast cost extra and was so-so.

The owner of the hostel is really friendly and welcoming. As soon as you arrive, it gives you all the information about the interesting places in Savannakhet, as well as practical advice about customs and life in Laos. The quality-price ratio is very good. Also, the place is very quiet at night. I recommend this place for people who value quality rest and silence.

Quite an untidy town with very little to commend it to the visitor, few if any good stores or scenic points.
Also, another minus point are the many dogs, even in the town centre, that make a terrible noise at night with their barking . . . more like you'd expect in a country village rather than a built-up town.
Apart from the Aura Res where we stayed and a very helpful tuk-tuk driver, there is nothing for us to commend, here, during this necessary annual visit.

This is a quaint town with lots of hidden gems. The French architecture is beautiful. Everyone is very helpful and polite. There are plenty of cafes and places to eat. Not much shopping though.

There's not much to do here, most people go for their visas. Good food at Pilgrim, Khunthabulee, Aura and especially Macchiato De Coffee. Unfortunately the old French part of town was about 3km from where we were staying and when we got there on Lao National Day just about everything was closed. Samlaw motorbike taxis are everywhere and are reasonably priced. We got one to the old town. He waited while we dined and then took us back to the hotel. 200 Thai baht all in. I reckon that's great. Minibus at the airport can rip you off. Normal price to town is 75 baht per person. If they try it on, walk away. They'll either chase you offering you a better price or let you get in another vehicle.

If you aren't planning to use local tuk-tuks find a place that is located in the city center, in a walkable distance from all attractions/your destination. Lack of public transportation is one of the major disadvantages. Haven't much time to explore but also haven't seen anything worth remembering.

The food is good in the area but pathments are very bad for walking on only walk in daylight avoid night time walking all food seem to be around one sort of area the Thai consulate is easy to find but the staff are very unhelpful aviod this visa office very picky staff there is not much to do really in savannakhet apart from visa but hard to get tourist visa there now forget it I would only come here for visa runs people freindly.
The bed was extra comfortable. Not once did I wake up in the middle of the night as I usually do. The staff was very friendly, especially the manager. The food in the restaurant was diverse and excellent. The view of the river and the quaint atmosphere of the property was very good. While my cons list is long, it is detailing some of the little things that mounted up. Overall, I would return to this hotel if I needed to return. Most people go to this town for visa runs to the Thai embassy. There is not much to see and do otherwise.

So we checked in room no 307 on 18th April 2024
First of all the location is great, it’s in city centre Savannakhet just 10 minutes away from Royal Thai consulate,
Rooms were clean & spacious, it’s new property so everything was amazing
They have restaurant inside the hotel & food options were good
I so loved their chicken nuggets & iced Cappuccino
Staff are really helpful & were on their toes whenever we needed their assistance.
I would definitely recommend this hotel ☑️

Great location within walking distance of the bus station and the central market area.
Spotlessly clean, well furnished, comfortable rooms with excellent wifi.
Niko and his wife are super friendly and welcoming and can provide excellent advice on what to see and do in Savannakhet...there's a surprising amount to do in this less travelled area.
Everything was wonderful! Niko & his family are excellent hosts! The place itself is beautiful, the house is lovely, the rooms are great! The bed is comfy and the ac works amazing! The showers are also very stylish! Niko gave us awesome suggestions around Savannakhet! Would definitely stay here again if I make my way back to Savannakhet😃
Clean and convenient hotel, just a couple of minutes walk from the local bus station. Staff were friendly and helped us to get a couple of pages printed out. Breakfast is included, which is served at a small cafe just around the corner from the hotel, with a good choice of options. Good value for money.
Breakfast was well prepared and presented by the staff.
The hotel is only 1 minute walk from the Savannkhet Bus Station.
The hotel is under 15 minutes walk to the Royal Thai Consulate for people wishing to complete a Visa Run.
The room was spacious and the aircon was effective.
The location is as convenient as promised. The hotel is very nice; just like the pictures. They offer a lot of additional services that are clearly posted in their reception, such as scooter rental, taxi, etc. It's nice to know what they offer and what it will cost.
Restaurant was located right next to the Mekong and was a great place to relax with a beer and they had an extensive menu that included Thai,Laos,Mexican,Indian and Western choices.
The rooms were cleaned regularly and were reasonably comfortable.

The hotel has great amenities. There is two parts the hotel with the casino and the suites that’s join on. The suites are amazing. The pool, gym and spa are so nice. There is multiple restaurants open all hours which is very handy.
Restaurant is within the Hotel, no need to walk further. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Room is cleaned and spacious, a good view of the Mekong River. Overall, location, cost, staff and food are reasonably good.
Great place to stay in Savannakhet! Lovely host Ladies take care of their guests. I could even rent a bycicle and go to That Ing Hang.
Location is nice and quiet and easy to find when coming from the bus station.
The rooms were very big and spacious. The location was good in terms of walking to the night market etc. Not a whole lot to do in Savannakhet so this was a good location for that. Staff were very friendly.
We enjoyed our stay at Xaythone very much! Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and helped us to find around Savannakhet:)
Thank you! We would come back for sure:)
The room was clean and well appointed. The wifi was a little problematic, but then I was in Laos and that is probably more of a reason than the hotel being at fault.
The manager is very kind and willing to provide transportation as a service of the hotel. With the exception of the dogs at the facility, the location was quiet.
