The pool is cold! I have never swam in a cold pool in SEA, but theirs is cold! Wow! The hotel is modern and clean and very comfortable and the staff are kind and helpful. The breakfast is large and varied and good. We took a mid trip rest here for a couple of days and basically just hung out swimming and eating and sitting in the cold AC room doing nothing. This was a great place for that. The location is set aside by the river but walking distance to market and cafes, etc. the small restaurant to the right where the woman makes soup in a hot pot is great!

Had a very nice time here at the guesthouse. Great way to truly experience Pakse. Spent afternoons in the ac room. Could walk to town center or tuktuk. Tina was fun to talk with and hung out with her and some of her friends one of the nights and felt very welcome. Will return!

We had an interior room. It was very quiet, firm mattress, an actual shower (with door), and great breakfast. Enjoyed our stay, but it was a little more expensive than comparable places.
Champasak Grand Hotel is a 15-minute ride from Pakse Airport. Offering comfortable accommodations with free Wi-Fi, it has an outdoor pool, which is surrounded by lush tropical garden.

Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center.
Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center. Few good restaurants, and few people speak English. You have to have a scooter to get anywhere. There are interesting places in the area but not many of them are properly developed. Rather, their best years are behind them. On my next visit to Pakse would like to avoid Pakse city.

Unfortunately I was only in Pakse for 1 night. The city has lots to do and lots to offer, however isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. Many come here to do the Pakse loop which is supposed to be great.

I have been to Pakse a number of times, it backs onto the majestic Mekong River. I can thoroughly recommend both the Champasak Grand Hotel and the Pakse Hotel. There is a lovely market located in the centre of the town where you can buy nearly anything.

Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but not much to do directly in the town. Good hub for day-trips via motorcycle or tour, but expect to get really dirty if you do them via motorcycle as only the very largest of the main roads are paved outside of the town.
Not much nature nearby, all flat areas have been cleared and converted to farmland. It takes a bit of work to get to areas with a bit of nature, but it's nice once you do so. Once you're out of the town the small villages vary from somewhat picturesque and mostly traditional to modern cement. Definitely worth exploring the countryside via motorcycle.
Waterfalls are nice, but can be a bit crowded (by local standards).

We chose the more expensive 4,000 island tour expecting to see more. We spent 5 minutes at 2 waterfalls, which are impressive, in an 11 hour day and that was it! The rest of the day, 10hrs and 50 minutes was spent waiting for, or sitting on, old buses and vans.
The much cheaper Bolonan plateau would have shown us villages, crafts and agriculture and been much better.
I will start by saying that the owner of the resort is simply amazing. Ngoc is very helpful, and an amazing cook. She was able to assist us with many things, bus, scooter renting. The place is very nice even if not in the city center, but to be honest that did not affect us at all, also because Ngoc is always available and can contact a tuk tuk for you. I definitely recommend the place and I hope to go back soon to enjoy the rice soup in the morning for breakfast in the beautiful garden.
The room is spacious with a spacious bathroom. It is well designed and furnished. No glass window but shutters that open out onto the expansive garden. The food is great - Vietnamese, Thai, Lao and more. Ngoc goes out of her way to give personal attention to every guest and to make sure everything is okay and to arrange tours or tickets. Three generation Vietnamese, family with Ngoc's daughter and grandmother, residents of Laos.
was in a perfect location, and Xavier and his Wife were the best hosts. The room was also lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy! They sorted our motorbike rental in advanced for the pakse loop and gave us lots of information for it. They let us leave our bags while we did the loop and even did our washing for us whilst we were away! The breakfast was also amazing and some of the best fresh bread we have had in Laos
the facilities were amazingly good! lovely rooftop pool and bar. the hotel is located 10 minute walk away from the walking street it there are so many tuk tuk’s waiting outside the hotel if you choose to take one.
we extended our stay here an extra night as the rooms were a lovely temperature (it was 40 degrees and extremely clammy outside!) the AC was a god send!
bathrooms were clean and comfortable.
This is the premier hotel in Pakse. It is literally right in the centre of the town. You have all facilities possible here, including a restaurant that opens till late night. Everything else in Pakse closes very early. The hotel also helped me in booking a 3 day trip across Wat Phou, Bolaven Plateau and Si Phan Dong. Although a bit more expensive compared to other options in Pakse, we were truly happy.
This is a great place to stay, if you get an AC room it's a small studio apartment size place with a full bathroom large bed. The guy working there is not Laos but speaks the language and is a GREAT help for finding things around town or getting tickets to your next stop.
If you have what app he'll even message you all the places to be and go, even some that are not commonly found on tour sites.
Truly the nicest accommodation I’ve had in Laos (and probably the nicest hostel I’ve been to ever). Everything is designed thoughtfully: spacious and comfortable beds with curtains and shelves, a clean bedroom and bathroom, plenty of space for everyone and their luggage, air con, etc. The owner is incredibly kind as well. Absolutely recommend, I was sad to only spend a night in Pakse
Very friendly and helpful owners. I just spent 1 night there, but it really felt homey and it was easy to connect with other travelers. There're shops and restaurants nearby, and the guesthouse is also about to launch its own yummy menu. If you're in the area, it's definitely a great choice for a couple of budget nights in a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
Very friendly, helped organise a mini bus trip up to Wat Phou Salao at short notice.
Good breakfast, did not try the pool.
Rooms are fine, bed was comfortable.
Mini bus pick up from the airport worked well.
Excellent value for money.
The hotel provides a mini bus shuttle into town in the evening.
Excellent value for money. It's an older guesthouse with basic facilities but with a fresh lick of paint. Exceptionally clean. Firm mattress but not super -hard so comfortable. Nice area out front for good breakfast or to sit and relax and talk to fellow travellers. Very nice and helpful French and Laotian couple.
The location is excellent - very close to the bus station and several great restaurants. The Hostel is super clean, all staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff arranged our ticket onward for a better price than the hotel around the corner. We can recommend it, but wouldn't want to stay in the room we had.

Luang is a charm of elegance and service. Definitely leaving a ok impression of Laos.
Un esprit couturière avec une équipe à son service très présente.
The hostel has very effective facilities, and is just in front of the only ok place to spend an evening out. Convenient
The only place you should stay if you have to spend time in Pakse. It is a bit far from downtown, but hotel offers free shuttle. Great pool and very clean rooms with large bathroom.
