This place is not a tourist hotpot to say the least.
This place is not a tourist hotpot to say the least. We stayed en route from Pak Beng to Nong Khiaw as we couldn't get all the way in one day. A mistake! The town was depressing but what bothered us most was the filth. We're well used to rubbish just dropped anywhere but this was much worse than that. Piles of rotting garbage along the main road is just off putting. The hotel was grossly overpriced. Too many Chinese tourists perhaps? We will not be returning. Take a different route is our advice.
