This is not my first stay overnight at this hotel and I would choose it again.
They have added a coffee machine in the lobby with free hot coffee. There is also an ice dispenser next to it. It was delicious.
There are also dispensers of alcoholic and soft drinks in the hall.

The reception is closed between 10 and 15 but I had to pick up my stored baggage at around 12, so they were kind enough to let me store the baggage at the nearby hotel of the same chain. I had no problem to walk from there to the station.
I like the forniture arrangements in the room because the decent sized table is very suitable for working with my large laptop compared to other hotels, and the seat is comfortable too.
In general, this hotel structure makes efficient use of small space. The personnel is open to satisfy to customers' request as much as possible, even in English language.

Onsen was good.
We stayed in 2 twin tatami rooms. They were comfortable and clean. Although the tatami room was small, it had most things we needed. We love the hotel's attention to detail in terms of amenities.
All staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Special mention goes to Mr Kano, who made a point to attend to us personally as he could communicate with us in English.

The few days we spent at Bessho Onsen were the best of our 1 month trip in Japan! Everything was great, from the beautiful surroundings to the services included, the private baths and the manager who takes great care of his guests. We had a lovely time, enjoying both nature and the hotel to make the best of this relaxing time. The food is also incredible, especially after a day spent hiking. I highly recommend staying here!

Bessho Onsen is a magic place just outside Ueda, full of lovely temples and hot springs. This Ryokan fully embraces the vibe of this little village and offers good facilities in an amazing surroundings. The hotel is pretty old, which gives it a nostalgic feeling. But it is perfectly kept and with all the amenities you should wish for. A lovely room, amazing gardens, very good indoor and outdoor hot springs and a very very good restaurant. We had the best breakfast of our entire trip there! Last but not least the staff is absolutely lovely.
The location certainly can't be beat. When I got to Ueda and checked in, I'd been walking around the city all day – I was surprised at just how close to the station it was! For the price, it's shockingly convenient. I was up in the morning and on the train within 15 minutes after I left the hotel – and that time includes buying a ticket and some quick souvenirs.
Also, the pillows were very comfortable.
Every part of our experience was wonderful. The staff were thoughtful, accommodating, and committed to making our experience more special than we could have imagined. Their effort to make our experience enjoyable and full was noted every day, and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Nagano! Great facilities, thoughtful touches, and world class staff!
