The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.
Nice cool weather. About 10 mins walk to train station which lead Shibuya, Shinagawa, Shinjuku and also to Yokohama. Must try local food nearby the hotel. Super delicious. Will definitely stay at Hotel Mystays again fir our next trip to Japan. 👍🏻

Everything was great except the tour operator for the 'Full-Day Private Tour to Discover The Best of Tokyo' was a dismal let-down. They cancelled the tour without even notifying us. We were waiting in vain for the pick-up to show. When called, they said they need to check & will call back. Then they sent a message to say they had a vehicle damaged the previous night & had to cancel. As a tour operator surely they have contingency plans to rent a car then to let the customer suffer waiting without being notified. A totally unreliable operator! Our whole day spoiled by this unprofessional conduct.

We loved the cleanliness and friendly polite Japanese people. The restaurant and even the street food vendors served excellent food. Subway travel overall was so efficient. We really enjoyed free observation floor at TM. Sky tower was so fun for our whole group.

Japan is a great holiday destination!
Japan is a great holiday destination!
It's very easy to get around using the Metro or JR lines but this can be a little bit confusing because several different companies operate different lines around Japan, not just the two afore mentioned. Don't worry. You'll work it out. The railway staff are very helpful. Just keep some cash on hand in case you have to fork out for unexpected expenses when changing lines.
Toilets... wow! Every toilet I visited in Japan was very clean. Impressive! There are signs to tell everyone to disinfect the toilet seat and there are dispensers to make this possible! The toilets are so high tech it was a learning curve trying to operate them sometimes but this in itself was a welcome experience!
Shinjuku and Shibuya are really fun places to visit. Get ready to go shopping, get ready to eat. Lots to see! Need years to visit everywhere just in these two locations!
Some things in Japan are super cheap too...
If you like a drink... alcohol is super cheap in Japan! Drinks are more expensive in restaurants but not unreasonably priced.
If you got to 7-Eleven... beer, wine and spirits are very reasonably priced. You can't go wrong there!
Tobacco is also quite reasonably priced if that's your thing.
Finally, the people in Japan, although quite reserved, are very friendly, polite and helpful.
There were several occasions in our travels with two kids and several heavy suit cases where people travelling on the metro stopped to help us carry our luggage up the many stair cases in the metro without hesitation. This really made me see the true nature of Japanese people and made our experience on the whole, the best experience we could have asked for. From my experience, Japanese people are very kind, helpful and respectful.
Overall, I wish I had months in Japan instead of weeks!
I'll be coming back again and again...!

Tokyo is a must visit city, it is very busy but the people are friendly and the trains are easy to navigate and always on time. If you have dietary requirements you would need to research where to eat. The food is delicious and plentiful. Some experiences need to be booked in advance, such as Go-karting and The sky view.
Comfortable hotel in excellent location - very friendly and helpful staff - and we liked the cafe bar on site (the breakfast was good). The rooms are small but bigger than we expected - try a twin rather than a double for more space - and very clean with good facilities. The hotel is in a great area, loads of cafes and restaurants on the doorstep, and walkable to Shinjuku, Meiji Jingu, Harajuku and Shibuya or catch the train nearby. We loved staying here and would stay again. Thank you, La'gent Hotel!
Location of the hotel was great, just a short train ride from places like Shibuya and Shinjuku. This hotel was on a very quiet street which was nice, we heard no traffic or noise from our room. The amentities available were good, there was free bottled water which was handy. The breakfast was great and provided a good mix of Japanese and western style cuisine which was appreciated. Staff were polite and check in was easy, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel as we arrived early for check in.
The room was clean and the sheets were new! I enjoyed my stay in Galois since it was just 1 stop away from Shinjuku station. There were alot of shops and restaurants in the area, and it was just a few steps away from the JR Shin-Okubo Station. The room was abit small but I guess it’s the same with most Tokyo hotels. Guests can also get packets of freebies, like hair turban, comb, facial creams, facial oils, etc during the length of you stay. The staff were also very helpful during our stay.
This was our first experience of Tokyo hotels, and the mind boggled at how such a tiny room could be so cleverly laid out. It has everything you need, and we only noticed the lack of space when we both tried to move around at the same time (spoiler: doesn't work).
The price was excellent (for Tokyo) without feeling "budget" in quality.
Asakusa doesn't have the buzz of Ueno or Shinjuku, but it has its own restaurant district and both Tokyo Skytree and Senso-ji are within an easy walk.
I loved the room Decor , check in best ever , we sat in Cafe & had coffee while they arranged early check in etc
Loved the cocktail bar , restaurant, breakfast was out of this world ( not Japanese & a long way from a full English) , I chose this hotel for the Brooklyn Brewery in basement for my husbands birthday, room size was spacious, & the design of the room was ❤️❤️❤️❤️ staff were just super helpful & efficient even over & above the usual Japanese way
A beautiful hotel, it is really a 4 star hotel rather than 3 in my opinion. Beautiful vibey lobby with music, great bakery and friendly people. Staff were extremely helpful and caring. Room was clean, comfortable with a beautiful view of the park/city. Is only a 12ish min walk to Shinjuku station or 8 mins to subway, definitely doable and is great being in a less busy part of the city. Loved it and can’t wait to stay here again, thanks for having us
The rooms were surprisingly big given Tokyo hotels are pretty compact. The hotel was 5 mins away from the train station. There were restaurants outside including Denny's and convenience stores were 2-3 mins away. The staff were nice and some even spoke fluent English.
Another nice thing was this spot in Ginza was not as crowded and busy compared to places like Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc. The train station nearby also was not as crowded.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a fantastic capsule hotel in Shinjuku, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The sleek and modern design created a cool and hip atmosphere. The cleanliness of the facilities was impeccable, and the capsule itself was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. Overall, this hotel provided a unique and enjoyable experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Shinjuku.
This was the first of various hotels my husband and I stayed while we were visiting Japan. APA Hotels became my go to and most sought out Hotel in this AMAZING country. Every employee is courteous, the rooms are very clean and stocked with ALL the toiletries needed. Do yourself a favor and do not add more weight to your luggage, ditch your dollar store toiletries because APA has them all! Cant wait to be back
Perfect location, 1 min walk to Oedo line Higashi Shinjuku, 12 min walk to JR Shinjuku, can easily get to anywhere by train or bus.
Also, the room is quite clean. Even besides a main road in downtown, the inside is quiet once the door is closed. The queen bed is soft.
I booked this room for my family to stay. They are satisfied with the fully equipped desgin. The hotel provide every utensils needed.
I stayed there with my two years old girl and my husband. The room was very comfortable and good sized(not too small). It had two single beds and they were putted together so my little one could sleep together. All of the staffs are really friendly. The price is much affordable than Disney official hotels for sure and we can find good dine-in/to-go restaurants around there.
great places to stay in SHIBUYA, just 5-7 minutes walk to Shibuya Crossing and Shibuya Station; the room is super clean and the bed are comfy for a long day strolling in Tokyo. The drinking water are free to refill and you can do your laundry as well, Great Job All Day Shibuya for new comers hotels since 2021
The cleanliness and the staff members assistance
AND the breakfast buffet!
I used this hotel for participating 2023 Tokyo Marathon. It was only for approx. 10 min walk from the JR Shinjuku station (West Entrance), across from Chuo Park. Probably just 5 minutes walk to the starting area for the race.
The overall vibe of the hotel was amazing, especially the lobby/common area. The onsen was nice as well. The area was great as well, a lot of good restaurants and very near major train lines like the Ginza line, so going to the major areas like Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ginza was not a problem.
Location was great, close to main attractions the underground. Stuff was super nice, helpful. In the bathroom there were also shampoo, contioner and bath shampoo.
There were 2 options of breakfast - japanese and western. My husband liked it.
I totally recommend this hotel.
The room was spacious comparing to other hotels at the same price. Our room has a view of Skytree. 5 mins to JR station, 20 mins walk to Shinkansen Tokyo station. A lot of restaurants, convenience stores and supermarkets nearby. Good drip coffee provided.
Great location if you want somewhere less busier than Shibuya/Shinjuku. OMO3 Hotel is tucked in between two train stations in Akasaka and they're just 5 minutes away. Also, there's a couple of convenient stores nearby.
The location was a bit farther from train stations. However, the hotel was close to restaurants, cafes and Chou Park. I personally liked that it was away from the center of Shinjuku.
It's so cheap. It's nice to stay to in capsule hotels like this because you wouldn't have to be lying down all day. This will force you to check out all the tourist spots in Tokyo.
There are so many hotels near Shibuya, but Tokyu Stay catches my attention. The location is so perfect to our iterinary trip. And the coin parking space nearby is so cheap.
