The house was so beautiful, really clean and newly renovated, the interior was considered and everything fit really well together. There was enough space to hang out at the house and feel relaxed. Really nice bath as well and lovely little garden.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this excellent hotel, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and made me feel right at home. Their exceptional hospitality truly enhanced my overall experience.
One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The culinary delights served were simply outstanding. Every dish was meticulously prepared, bursting with flavors that tantalized my taste buds. The chefs showcased their expertise by creating a diverse menu that catered to various palates. Whether it was the succulent grilled meats, the fresh seafood, or the delectable vegetarian options, each plate was a work of art.
The dinner experience was truly memorable, with an elegant ambiance and attentive service that added to the overall charm. The restaurant staff were knowledgeable, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring that every detail of my dining experience was taken care of. Their professionalism and passion for culinary excellence were evident in every interaction.
The breakfast spread was equally impressive, offering a wide array of options to suit all preferences. From a sumptuous continental selection to a delightful assortment of local delicacies, there was something to satisfy every craving. I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked pastries and the made-to-order omelettes. The quality and freshness of the ingredients used were top-notch, leaving me energized and ready to start my day.
In addition to the exceptional dining experience, the hotel itself was a haven of comfort and tranquility. The rooms were elegantly furnished, providing a cozy retreat after a long day of exploring the city. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the plush bedding to the luxurious amenities.

From my perspective, there wasn't much to do within a mile walk of the property.
Only one restaurant off site in that mile two convenience stores and if you walk a bit further a pretty mellow "redlight" district

Otsu Town seems not beautiful at first sigh.
Otsu Town seems not beautiful at first sigh. But go to have a walk behind the hotel. The countryside is like a Miyazaki movie getting real ! You can go near from there : temples, beach, ski station with incredible view… But with the hotel’s shuttle and the station you have Kyoto, very near, Nara, Osaka a little farther. You’ve got all Kansaï by JR… A good tip : when you go to the station to Shirahige shrine, don’t take bus but walk with GPS. The way is just incredible with village, other shrines so quiet and monkey looking at you from the forest behind rice fields…

Otsu, located near Kyoto, is another treasure place in Japan. Faced to Biwa lake it has many historical monument and cultural hotspots. In summer the big firework event is so famous to attract many people. In Biwako Hall many world class concerts and plays are performed. Local fishes and sakes are another charm for visitors. Once you come here you cannot help missing this unforgettable city.

At first I thought I might be bored but there’s so much to do! It’s a little difficult to travel from place to place; lots of walking. But there’s lots of history, friendly people, and beautiful nature.

Otsu is a great location to get away from the city life of Japan. It is quite peaceful here and is located next to a large lake (lake biwa) which is perfect for fishing enthusiasts. Overall, this location is clean and quiet, different from the bustling cities of Japan and i would recommend this place to those who enjoy a scenic walk and a calm environment.

Beautiful spot near the lake.
Beautiful spot near the lake. Perfect for those that want to stay a little out of the hustle and bussle, in perhaps a bigger / better value for money hotel, but still within close proximity to Kyoto.
A wonderful and inviting ryokan experience. The room, the view, the staff, and the meals were exquisite. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a personal hot spring bath on the balcony of the room, overlooking the bay. The dinner was a 10/10, each course was carefully curated. The garden on the grounds had beautiful flowers, and many photo opportunities. Additionally, the hotel provides a shuttle to and from the station. I would stay here again.
Check in was right on time and shuttle pickup was smooth- journey took about 5 min from ogotoonsen station. We requested for halal meals and were very pleased with the array of traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. The private bath in the room was great too with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved the tatami and futon prepared carefully and the facial wash, toner and moisturiser included in the toiletries 🥰
The Koke Musu Inn was by far my favorite place to stay during a two week trip to Japan. The house is decorated in a way that was deeply creative and quirky. The room was extremely cozy and well equipped. Best of all, our host was so kind and accommodating. I will be staying here the next time I’m anywhere near Kyoto! I wish I was here for the entire trip.
It was our first onsen experience and it was superb!
You have a very great view of the lake. Room is very spacious.
It's our first time as well to stay at a traditional Japanese room, wear yukata and it was a great experience.
Excellent dinner and breakfast.
They can pick you up at the train station which is very convenient.
There was no electric kettle and coffee or tea in the room which is pretty standard for other hotels. The cafe on the 1st floor was not open in the morning so unless you go to the dining room for breakfast, you have no place to enjoy morning coffee/tea. For us, we wake up early in the morning so it was very inconvenient.
The food at the Karoi side of the hotel was truly outstanding. The staff were exceptionally attentive to our needs. The hot springs were lovely and it was great to have our own soaking tub and we loved the private lounge with free beverages and snacks and a nice seating area.
Breakfast and dinner were just amazing, it was like a 5-stars hotel, if not more! Staff was incredibly nice as it's often the case in Japan. The interior of the building is so nice, the room as well. I was sold. I already booked my next stay there in a couple of months!
The bathroom was unlike "typical" Japanese bathrooms, where there an "elevatation"; I love that I can walk casually and leisurely into the bathroom without tripping.
The room also has a pretty good view!
About 3 mins walk from Otsu station, very convenient.
The place was incredibly peaceful. It's situated near Bodai Temple, and in the morning, I accompanied some people in their worship rituals at the temple. Experiencing this Japanese-style garden worship was truly a new and enriching experience for me.
Service very good. Everything was explained to us in English (as we don't speak Japanese). And very detailed.
Dinner and breakfast were really good..They took the effort to serve us different menus as we stayed 2 nights.
Very organised.
The onsens of the hotel next door that we were allowed to use were amazing
Dinner & breakfast japanese style, were delicious & very authentic
I liked the japanese style rooms and details such as yukatas provided by the hotel
It has a very retro feels of the late 80 and early 90 infrastructure. The room was a fusion of old and new and it really shows. Very authentic Japanese experience in a field of other competitive hotels around Lake Biwa area
Stunning view from the room, spacious room, nice selection of restaurants inside the hotel, free parking, solid bed, comfortable sofa, outdoor public bath with cool breeze
Location is on the lakeside and all rooms have great views. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor hot spring bath.
Shuttle bus every 30 minutes from Otsu station.
- amazing taste of traditional Japanese with the robe, room and dining
- private onsen with gorgeous views
- the shuttle to and from the station was awesome
The view of the lake is best part of the hotel. The room is spacious compare to most hotels in Japan. The parking is very close and parking fee is reasonable.
The staff is really nice, helped us shipping luggage to the next hotel. Although a bit far from Kyoto, it's easy to reach and the neighborhood is nice.
