The check-in process was easy with detailed instructions and a tablet in the entrance. The hostel was beautifully decorated and felt really comfortable and welcoming! I travelled with my family so my aunt and mother were alittle skeptical about staying in a hostel but the wonderful atmosphere completely dispelled all of their worries. Everything was so clean, and the communal area (kitchen and lounge) had all the basics ready for us to use.

We were there in June which is rainy / off season.
We were there in June which is rainy / off season. We came to surf but the swell was low and it rained two of three days. The town has potential but is overall run down. It’s like it is stuck in the 1980s and no one has been maintain g or keeping it updated .

Miyazaki is incredible. The people are friendly and kind.
Miyazaki is incredible. The people are friendly and kind. The scenery is breathtaking. The food is amazing. I recommend the local foods like chicken nanban and jidori, which you can get at most restaurants and izakayas. There's also a lot of citrus themed snacks and drinks, as hyuganatsu is a popular fruit. Miyazaki is also famous for beef and mango.
It's also a great place for people who like history and legends. Many of the shrines are very old. There are many "power spots" related to the Shinto legends and gods.
There are mountains, beaches, rivers, shrines, museums, cafes - all kinds of places to visit. I highly recommend visiting Miyazaki if you can.
Regarding transportation, it is one of those places where renting a car is ideal. It can be a little difficult to travel around without a car here. It can be done, but if you don't have a lot of time to spend on public transportation I would recommend getting a car. Additionally, Miyazaki is a popular place for motorcycles, especially in the countryside on the winding mountain roads.
Overall, Miyazaki is a great place to visit!

I’ve been here four times.
I’ve been here four times. Great spot for relaxing and chilling. Beach is a hop skip and a jump away.
Weather is of a tropical warm nature.
If you’re travelling from Miyazaki airport by train, it’s a bit complicated as you have to change and wait for another train from Nichinan line. As for returning to the airport, it’s a bit confusing which train to board at the changeover platform.

Miyazaki is a wonderful city.
Miyazaki is a wonderful city. It's like a different side of Japan with such natural scenic views. Lush greenery, blue waters, flowers and friendly people await you. One thing is that the nice spots are difficult and or take long to get to, so driving is a good choice. This is not to deter those who don't drive as there are tons of places to visit, waterfalls, gorges and so on. One should consider some of the places not advertised. If you can spend many days then you can visit one place at a time to soak in more. Visitors can get a one-day bus pass which saves a great lot of money.
Some places to visit are Florante, Heiwadai Park, Amagajo Park, Takachiho Gorge (go very early if you want to do the boat ride) Sekinoo Falls, Nagata Gorge, Sun Messe Nichinan, Udo Jingu Shrine, Aoshima and Aya City with the suspension Bridge.
Places to eat include: Ogura Honten and Maruman which are close to and in Nishitachi respectively. Namban and Charcoal Chicken are two delicious dishes which can be enjoyed there. Don't leave without trying them!

We have limited days of holiday, we drive all day long from Fukuoka to Miyazaki and the main purpose is to visit Sun Messe Nichinan. I have never thought that such a popular tourism access area is closed on Wednesday. Public Access Tourism Area should have open all day long... We are very disappointed and we also found other tourist faced the same issues.
The room was spacious, with a good, comfortable bed. The view was also very pleasant :-) Definitely, the bathtub was a wonderful surprise; currently, in Japan, the showers are overtaking the space in the bathrooms, or the cleanliness of the bath is questionable. Here, it was spacious and clean (it looked very new). Also, the toilet was separated by a glass wall from the bathroom, which was very comfortable (from a hygienic point of view).
Finally, the location is also convenient and several shops are around (as well as souvenir shops).
New and clean with all the amenities required even facial wash and facial cream. Best part was that it was spacious unlike most hotels in Japan. Although underground parking was limited, we never had trouble with parking lots for our 2 cars despite coming back after 9pm. Staff were friendly and helpful although not very fluent in English. Google translate works :)
