The public bath was great and having the washing machines and driers within the area meant you could do your washing while having a bath. You could even go and out your clothes in the drier and get back into the bath. I didn’t try the free nighttime ramen, but it was good to know it was available.

Matsue is a beautiful smaller town with an amazing castle and grounds, samurai houses and lovely streets to wander around. We did an afternoon train trip to a stunning temple in Izumo and also to a nearby onsen town.
Matsue is a gem as it has so many wonderful sites to visit without the crowds of Kyoto.
We will definitely be going back.

Our stay was brief - only two full days - but in addition to its castle and historic district made for walking, Matsue is a good jumping off point for day trips to Izumo Taisha shrine, the Adachi Art Museum and the garden at Yushien.
One evening we had an enjoyable meal at a local "okonomiyaki" restaurant on the quiet street behind the hotel. The 88-year old proprietress was energetic, fun to speak with, and recommended a very tasty locally-brewed sake.

Matsue Castle and the surrounding castle complex are incredible. It’s a far more authentic experience of feudal era Japanese castles than the remodeled, refurbished, and in many ways entirely rebuilt castles of Osaka, Nagoya, and Hiroshima, to name a few.

It's a wonderful and charming city! The art museums, castle/historical sites, and natural scenery are great. We had a lovely time just walking around the side streets and along the river. A hidden gem of Japan for sure!

Matsue castle is the best to recommend to you, to see from...
Matsue castle is the best to recommend to you, to see from the outside and inside of old wooden architecture. I also recommend to visit an old great Izumo-taisha shrine by train from Matsue to Isumo-shi and bus from that station.
This is a very new hotel across the street from Matsue Station but to get there you go through an underpass. The spotlessly clean room was small but perfectly fine for a single person and there were a lot of electrical outlets. Although my window faced Matsue Station, it was very quiet. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had quite a variety of food and drinks. The comfortable well lit eating area had several small tables and a long hightop table with stools. The public bath was a real nice addition.
This hotel is so close to the Matsue station, and it is very convenient. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained. I really like how they provide a lot of amenity stuffs at the lobby. And it is really nice that they have a separate place for locker to put stuffs, so less noise at the capsule bed area. And they way they built the capsule beds, it feels less disturbance from other people. It is really comfortable inside the capsule, where it even has a fan button for better air circulation.
The staff were very polite and helpful. There is a complimentary free drink after 5 to 9 PM, a small ice cream from 3 to midnight. As well a half-size ramen service that I didn't try from 9to 11 PM. The breakfast was OK. There are vending machines located on the odd number floors. The location is really good, there is a 7/11 in front of the hotel as well a Lawson 50 meters away. Station 300ish meters away plus many restaurants. Lastly, the hotel seems to be very new, that is a big perk for me.
It was well placed for sightseeing, easily reachable from the Matsue Station by bus.
There are a lot of good restaurants within walking distance. Emi-san the owner, lives nearby and comes by every morning to give us the ideas for sightseeing and restaurants. Her English is excellent and she was really willing to help us enjoy the stay. She really made our stay in Matsue more pleasant.
The owner was the absolute best!! She really cares for her guests and treats them like family. She was so concerned one of her recommendations didn't work out for me, so she tried extra hard to make my time in Matsue memorable. She knows all the local knowledge and can tell you all about many things. The cats are very cute and she keeps the house very clean even with all the cats!
Top to bottom, I’m traveling 16 days, so far best ever. Old style Japanese Life music to so many choice , fancy dinner, great Onsen to its view. But one day to make other day to female , you can have even you stay a day, either morning or night It worth it every penny. Stay there two days. I did one but already scheduled other town, if you do , please try two days
Definitely one of the nicest capsule hotels or hostels I've stayed in. The female-only bedroom was quiet and well-ventilated, the shared bath/shower/locker facilities were clean and comfortable, and the location is conveniently just a few minutes' walk from the train station. Breakfast was also good with a nice selection of Japanese and Western foods.
There are too many to mention! First of all, there was an English speaking staff. While, I’m always prepared to use some Japanese, it feels more welcoming as a foreigner when one staff member speaks English. Next, the buffet breakfast for ¥2300 was 100% worth it! It had a lot of local options. Last, the sky baths were simply heavenly.
The price, location, friendly staff and free meals make are the highlights of this property. No one I met spoke English but they were very helpful and utilized translators to make check in smooth so if you're Japanese is lacking don't worry. The location is key because it's so close to the station all of Matuse is at your fingertips.
The guesthouse is as clean as a home, and the manager of the guesthouse is such a nice person. He speaks English well, and communication with him was very easy. He even dropped us off at the Matsue Station on the last day. The toilets and the bathroom was always clean although the guesthouse was quite busy on our last two days.
Everyone at the hotel was lovely and looked after us very well. Lots of seafood for dinner and also breakfast, and both were generous. Our room had a sitting area and a great view of the harbour. In addition to our private bathroom, there was an onset style bath, which you can use privately with your partner.
Highly recommended guest house.
It’s valuable for solo traveler to stay and enjoy the Japanese onsen culture
The staff is super nice. They will notice my note and pick up from the JR station.
I have lost my watch in the hotel and then the staff help me to deliver it . I really appreciate the help from them.
The hotel is in a great location, between the castle and the station, both of which are a 15-minute walk away. There are many restaurants of all kinds nearby.
The hotel is nice and everything is of quality. The owner, although we did not meet him in person, is responsive and found solutions to our requests.
I think it was the best hotel during our three week trip to Japan. Modern, comfortable rooms, very spacious as for Japaness standards. The staff was nice and helpful. Located near the railway station, not far from some nice diners and a convenience store, about half an hour walk from Matsue Castle.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station. The price is magnificent and the food was great for being free. The bed, in the room, was more comfortable than I expected. The staff are very friendly. The view from my room was pretty nice as well.
Very well situated near JR Matsue Station. People are very kind and helpful. Rooms are spacious and well furnished (Yukata, green welcome tea, TV, air conditioned... and very good WiFi). Showers are also very clean.
As expected for other Dormy Inn hotels, this serves a fantastic breakfast. Local soba nudle, wariko soba, was very good. I would like to stay again in this hotel when visiting Matsue.
Very clean, and centrally located. There is a Poplar convenience store right inside the hotel. The beds were nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
The onsen was excellent, as is the breakfast. Walking distance to Matsue Castle. Friendly staff, exceptionally clean. Additional pillows provided on request.
