Hotel Santa Caterina, hotel in Siena

Hotel Santa Caterina is housed in an 18th-century villa just a few steps from Porta Romana. Enjoy breakfast out on the terrace with a view of the Tuscan hills.

The rooms are quite small ( but that's Europe), they are very clean and the beds are comfortable. It has the best view in Siena and alfresco dining or drinks is a must. The location is a short walk to the city and provides a relaxing haven. It's the best to go luggage to and from as there are no cobblestones.

Palazzo Ravizza, hotel in Siena

A historic hotel in the heart of Siena, Palazzo Ravizza offers elegant rooms with characteristic 1920s furnishings. This family-run property is just 700 metres from Piazza del Campo.

A wonderful hotel in the heart of Siena, with lovely rooms and a stylish setting. The hotel made every attempt to communcate with me ahead of arrival to warn about the car pass restrictions in the city, which I overlooked, making the error of driving in without using the system to get parked first. Me, having made this mistake they then went out of their way to rectify it, and managed to get me registered quickly so that I escaped a fine. After that, our late arrival meant dining was closed for the night, but they still found us some lovely food and drink from things they could muster up. We were only staying one night and made to feel like the most importnat guests. The next day we were allowed to stay parked whilst we explored the city on foot, another kindness.

FAQs about hotels in Siena

Romantic Renaissance

Located among undulating meadows and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!

Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic centre. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.

The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodation deals on Booking.com!

This was a great location for visiting Siena and the local region. Although on a bus route the buses aren’t very frequent so it is certainly easier with a car. Parking available at the property. Good restaurant next door - but sadly not at all good for vegetarians! The monastery on top of the hill is a must - we had a drink up there in the bar - but the food in the restaurant looked great too and was reasonably priced. A great base for visiting Tuscany.

This was our most liked stop in our almost three week trip to Italy. Everything was perfect! the room is new and refurbished, the bed is comfortable and everything is very clean. Then the view…amazing…on Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy! This is a top location if you want to spend time in Siena downtown and leave the car outside. there are plenty of parking lots pretty cheap outside the historical city center, you can grab a taxi and be at the hotel in 15 minutes from everywhere! I loved my stay at hotel Santa Caterina. The hotel itself is just lovely with a beautiful garden with an amazing view of Siena. The staff was exceptional and would go out of their way to make.your request happen. It's a little further out of the centre of town which I prefered because it was quiet, and it waa 15 to 20-minute walk into town. It also included an excellent breakfast with your stay. It was a very relaxing stay. I will definitely stay at Santa Catarina again.

This was a larger room than expected, very clean. Filtered cold water available. Perfect location- away from revelry but less than 5 minutes to the middle of everything. Breakfast was simple but made fresh and delicious. After 4 weeks of Cappuccinos everywhere across Italy, the Cappuccino from this breakfast was the best. Can’t even explain why - it was that kind of an experience. We had a car and we were able to get a spot on hotel property.

You could not pick a better location to stay in Siena. Within an easy walk (relatively flat) to the major attractions plus handy to the bus station and supermarket. Spacious and well appointed apartment and staying for a week the washing and cooking facilities were a real bonus. Nicolo gave us some great restaurant recommendations, make sure you try out Taverna De Cecco so far the best we have experienced in Italy (make sure you book).

Almost everything was great except for parking policy. The service at the front desk did everything they could to solve any inconvenience. Breakfast (choice and quality) was better in comparison with other hotels we stayed in in this part of Italy. It is probably in the best location in the city (close to the center and great as starting point for the daytrips). I would come definitely again.

Hotel was unique - built in an old palace, room design & amenities were modern comfortable & clean, although a bit narrow. Location was a bit away from the noisier part of the Siena town centre, and not too far from the parking - although it can be a bit tiring if carrying heavy luggage. But otherwise, it was a wonderful stay.
