Gutes Frühstück,
der Bezug zur Natur, sehr freundliches Personal
San Gimignano, with the Italian sun glistening intently on its 14 remaining towers, cuts a dramatic figure from its position high on a Tuscan hill overlooking vineyards. However, it is when you get up-close-and-personal with this medieval-walled city and crane your neck to the blue sky that you truly appreciate its mesmerising beauty.
If you take away the swarming summer tourists circling the piazzas of San Gimignano, then this city offers you a wonderful trip back in time. The main square, Piazza della Cisterna, is surrounded by Romanesque buildings and Piazza del Duomo features Torre Grossa, the city’s tallest tower.
San Gimignano, originally an Entruscan village, was part of the ancient pilgrim route Via Francigena joining France to Rome. Its name was derived from the Bishop of Modena and is well known today as the Town of Fine Towers.
The 12th-century Collegiate Church of San Gimignano is a worth a visit with its wonderful collection of frescoes, and it also includes the Religious Art Museum.
Whether it is sitting on a restaurant terrace sipping some local Vernaccia wine or attending the lively Thursday Market, Booking.com has a range of San Gimignano hotels, guest houses and apartments for your stay. And just out of the city are options such as farm stays and country houses in the Tuscan countryside.
VERY popular with tourists, and well-deserved! You can easily chew up a solid day trying to cover all the interesting sights. There's no shortage of expected tourist shops along the clean quaint walks with buildings towering either side. A pleasant add is all the good quality clothing, food/drinks stops and art stores, as well. My wife could not decide on two light summer dresses, but were reasonably enough priced I got her both. And then quite nice sandals at another shop. And surprisingly inexpensive very good wines of the region's bespoke grapes. Definitely get the full tour ticket when doing the Tower Grosso climb and Collegiata cathedral tour. There's 5 attractions total included, and DO NOT MISS the contemporary art, medieval medicinal glass & glazedware works, and performing artists photo portraits exhibition all together at Museo Etrusco at the outskirts of the area. It's hidden gem, and conveniently on the way to the lower carpark. Car parking is a bear, and you must get there even before mid morning.

The stay was way too short, wish could have lasted longer, the room with the balcony view was a pleasant surprise, fantastic panorama couldn't ask for more, the breakfast had a lot of variety to suit everyone's choice . The staff are very helpful and friendly , a special mention for the lady who cleans the rooms, not easy but she did the work with care and a smile on her face , would recommend to anyone who has the chance to visit😊

It was wonderfully located for our other side trips to Florence, Siena, and Chianti.
There was a lovely art store and shop for kitchen aprons, linens and oven mitts which can be custom embroidered where we made purchases.
And an interesting paper museum all within a short walk of each other.

Gorgeous little town, amazing food and really nice to walk around. It is clearly designed for tourists which has both positives and negatives. There is clear signage everywhere and the parking facilities are excellent (and cheap!) However it does get really crowded in the afternoon as there are a lot of tours in big groups walking around so would advise going early morning or evening. The evening time was great, very few tourists around and lots of nice restaurants and gelaterie to get dinner/ice cream.

A trip to Tuscany must include San Gimignano!
A trip to Tuscany must include San Gimignano! Highly recommend for its medieval charm, spectacular views and delicious food. It really feels like stepping back in time. It’s not public transport accessible and if you have limited time, hiring a car is the best way to go. Ample public parking is available as well.
We visited around late October so it wasn’t too busy compared to summer time and the weather was perfectly warm during the day and mild around dinner time. Light jacket only. It’s a photographer’s delight as there’s always a scenic opportunity as we turn a corner.
From SG we drove to Siena, another stunning city close by and not to miss! For lunch we were lucky enough to stumble upon a small multi-Routard recommended resto and it seriously did not disappoint. It’s called Osteria Nonna Gina di Lella e Dado. Some of the best pasta we’ve had in Emilia Romagna is here.
Also don’t miss the gelato at Gelateria Dondoli, they’ve won multiple awards and offer unique gelato flavours you really have to try.

If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano.
If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano. The city centre has a very special architecture and a lot of small shops and wineries. It’s the perfect place to spend a few days with your spouse. We had a wine tasting at Marronaia Winery, close to the city and we enjoyed it, but next time I would also try another winery, like Tenuta Torciano, which we tried a few months earlier. We ate a fantastic meal at ristorante Fuoriluogo, which I recommend strongly. I recommend staying as close as possible to the city, it’s a nice feeling that you can walk while admiring the sights.
This hotel is beautifully run! The staff are so helpful
And cudgels! From the moment Emanuele picked me up at the train station to the time I checked in with Massimo! Massimo arranged my dinner reservations and took excellent care of me. I come to Italy every year for a month and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in! The location is incredible! I’m only sorry I didn’t stay 1 or 2 days more! They make you just feel special!
Alessandro runs a GREAT Place in a super Location.
The house is full of "style" fully fitting the owner... all well done... with the necessary touch/look of "roughness" Authentic.
Perfect location to visit San Gimignano and all Tuscany, well organized.
Relaxing Park for Sundowners and nice pool.
Alessandro is probably the "coolest" host Italy can offer,,, and he is a fantastic cook! Book a dinner.
The location was perfect with no other properties close by to detract from the beautiful views of the rolling hills and orchards. The room was large and comfy. The breakfast buffet was very good with many selections to choose from and dinner was excellent, it was one of the best dinners we had in Italy. If we ever return to Tuscany, this will be our number one choice to stay.
-Perfect mix between modern elements while keeping the historic charm alive
- refurbished two storey bungalow with fully equipped kitchen and small patio ideal to relax
- great pool to swim and pass the midday heat
- exceptionally friendly hotel staff
- delicious breakfast and dinner with nice view
In conclusion: nicest Hotel we stayed at during our three week Italy trip!
Roberto, the host was extremely hospitalble and pleasant. He gave us good dinner recommendation based on our interest and the breakfast basket was delicious and plenty. The view from our room and the home in general was spectacular. Lyla, the cute dog was a bonus- so sweet and well behaved! This was the best part of our stay in Italy
Location very nice - close to the town.
Swimming pool was a welcome relief during the hot weather in June/July (Heat wave in Italy). Kids loved it.
Wish we could have stayed longer! Will most definitely recommend if you want to explore the Tuscany Countryside. The town of San Gimignano is awesome.
Many thanks to the hotel staff, especially Michael and Lucia, for a most warm welcome and wonderful stay at the hotel.
Breakfast was one of the best we've had! The view was great, and it was a great take-off point to see other Tuscany towns like Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano instead of Florence.
I don't know a better place in Italy! It is so beautiful place that I would prefer not to share it with anyone! :))) Great location for daily trips!
Serena is amazing, explains everything, gives good advice. We are very much looking forward to our next vacation in this wonderful place.
The property is in an idyllic location set in the countryside of Tuscany near San Gimignano (10 min drive). The property was lovely! The apartment was immaculate and charming. The kitchen had all the essentials for our group of 4 adults, and the bathroom was modern and shower very nice!
everything! the view is amazing, location is walkable to town yet peaceful and quiet in the evening. comfortable beds (my best sleep in Italy). Breakfast was perfect. the host were lovely. so helpful, kind and accommodating. they went above and beyond to make our visit memorable.
Very roomy apartment in excellent condition. This was my stop to do laundry halfway through my stay in Italy and it worked out great. There were strings outside the window to hang things to dry. The hosts had prepared a lot of information about the area for the guests in the room.
Very pleasant to deal with friendly, laid back staff, best breakfast of any place we stayed in Italy, stunning environment and beautiful buildings, bicycle availability, excellent location near San Gimignano whose towers are visible from the hotel premises.
Best ever ! I recommend this to every traveler who goes to Toscana. It's a fantasy 🙏 If something is missing in your life this is the place, this is your time 🙂 Thank you Franseca and your parents. We will see you again❤️
Best coffee I had in Italy☝️
We had a wonderful stay here with the most welcoming, helpful and accommodating family we met in Italy. Everything was exceptional and I cannot say enough good things about our stay here. We were a family of 5 and truly had the best time here, hands down!
The hotel is in a lovely setting, it is beautifully maintained and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very comfortable with beautiful views over Tuscany. Good walks around the area and within easy walking distance of San Gimignano.
We liked the views, the size of the apartment, the location near San Gimignano and the hills, the decoration and the kids liked the pool a lot. The host is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very nice.
All the hotel was very pleasant; convenient localization near San Gimignano, the restaurant next to the hotel (they prepared a dinner for us even they are closing); free parking
Exceptional, exceptional, exceptional! Location, comfort, food, hospitality and ambience. Best part of our trip throughout Italy, by far. Love all the folks running Mormoraia.
Beautiful quiet rural location near San Gimignano. Quiet and restful place with a comfortable bed. And such a great breakfast! The hosts were wonderful.
