Tranquil, beautiful, historic, scenic, very nice people, long promenades by the sea and non commercial port, and calm, including the drivers. The centro is old, has winding streets, an immense castle/fort, an 11th century cathedral (you dont meet them often), and a small old Byzantine chapel - San Pietro - with a custoduan who will give you a description in writing for free to help you understand the surviving frescos which will keep you there longer than you'll probably spend in the cathedral. Many reasons to take photos at every turn, down streets, out from town, then from the peninsula, with its new builds and one very old church, of the town, especially at night. Many restaurants with out door patios and a variety of prices, great fresh fish & seafood selections. Beaches and concrete piers from which to swim, down from the promenade that skirts the old town/centro. When's the last time you went to vist the historic centre of a town and said gee i wish i'd brought my bathing suit & a towel. And a lot of free parking lots with a lot of spaces a short walk to the old centro citta. When i come back to Puglia, i'm staying a week in Otranto for all these reasons, especially if i've been to & drove in Lecce, Galipoli, Monte Sant'Angelo or Taranto

Having grown up at Otranto Place, Sandycove, Dublin, I had always wanted to visit! Unlike its Dublin namesake, it is a little down at heel, BUT I loved it all the more! Has character, history, cultural sights to see (the castle made famous by Horace Walpole and the amazing Tree of Life mosaic in the Cathedral). A town beach and nearby to other lovely beaches & beach clubs. Lots of good meals but two exceptional places - Frontemare, on the sea front and very cute L'Ortale in the heart of the old town. Stayed at Relais Valle Dell'Idro, 8 mins walk out of the old town, charming and good value.

It is a very nice little city with lots of restaurants and bars for any kind of public. The sea has a wonderful colour, it is super clean (at least while we were there) and behind the lighthouse there is a super beach with rocks, it looks simply GREAT.

We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area.
We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area. We travelled to the Bauxite Lake which was nearby and hiked around it and then down to the ocean. A highlight was going south and swimming in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. We hired a boat for the two of us for 3 hours for 60 Euros. It was absolutly amazing and the grotto's were beautiful. The water color was just amazing! A highlight of our trip to southern Italy.

It is a really attractive town, with pretty streets, a castle and a lovely old cathedral. The cathedral has some spectacular Byzantine floor mosaics. In grim contrast, the Martyrs Chapel contains the bones of 800 Christians massacred by the Turks in 1480. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours exploring and ended up for a good mojito and beer on the front.
Spacious room with gorgeous bathroom with soaking tub and spacious modern shower. Elena was a terrific coast and responded immediately to all my requests. The room is one block away from the ocean has a huge terrace onto its own and the room was well stocked with all sorts of goodies like wine, breakfast snacks, water, etc. But if you need it there are wonderful markets for groceries and a laveteria if youve been traveling and need to freshen your wardrobe. would always be my first choice in Otranto
Great location, on the seafront and a couple of steps away from the town centre, restaurants, cafes and mini markets. Super professional and super nice staff, always at our service. Good selection at the breakfast. Affiliation with top rated, gourmet restaurant located on the same building. Affiliation with nearby guarded parking, which can save you so much time everyday. Hotel Miramare, just like Otranto, combines a beautiful location with well organised services.
The location in the old town was fantastic and we could walk pretty much anywhere in town. The property was super beautiful, entering through an iron gate into a courtyard. We loved the terrace which had sea views, such a fantastic place for breakfast! The breakfast buffet was the best we encountered on our two week trip - so many great options! The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, we dined at the local restaurants they recommended all 3 nights we stayed.
A very calm, relaxed, comfortable stay at a very nice hotel. The spacious room was great with nice spa and sauna facilities and the hotel grounds were picturesque, and well-maintained. The pool was also good. The location is conveniently close to Otranto centre and less than 10 minutes drive to the beach.
The staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful. Thank you to Anna Maria and co. for some great local recommendations.
We booked very spontaneously, only a few hours in advance and had a good time at Miramare. The location of the hotel is great, everything in Otranto is in walking distance. The staff is really nice and breakfast has many sweet treats - some non-sweet options would be nice but that's not typical for Italy, so it's fine. The shower in our room was not super-clean. All in all we had a great time at Miramare
Mario is a very welcoming host. His enthusiasm for his town and the local area are infectious, and he quickly shared a wealth of ideas on where to go and what to see not just in Otranto but throughout Puglia.
Our room had a balcony with a fine view of the harbour, and to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and watch the fishing boats at night was the best part of our vacation.
Great little spot, especially for a short stay. The owner was SUPER personable and helpful, giving me all sorts of recommendations and even the best part of the city to watch the sunrise.
Breakfast is served at the nearby cafe and the b&b is only a short walking distance from the sea and the city center. Great town and great stay overall!
What a great stay at B&B Viaprimaldo Camere. The hosts were really helpful and available. They gave us precious piece of advice about restaurants, bar and beautiful beach around Otranto. Very well located in Otranto as well. (Also for the breakfast we tasted one of the best pasticciotto we had during our whole journey!)
Fantastic location, right in the historical centre and beside the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is modern and clean and they provide a lovely breakfast each morning. Very good value too considering the location. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone spending a few days in Otranto.
Absolutely everything - don’t stay anywhere else. Silvia is the most incredible host. Thank you for the amazing hospitality, food, breakfast chats, picnic food and just being an absolute superstar! Without a doubt, the best place to stay during our 2 weeks in Puglia! Keep shining brightly Silvia 😂🇮🇹
Francesco was the best host! very responsive and share all the details and info prior to/during my stay. It is a nice location (you need a car to access though) where you can relax and rest peacefully and many places are accessible by car in 30mins. We are happy we stayed here for our trip!
Loved everything about this hotel. Beautifully decorated with excellent facilities, it is located close to the historical centre. Staff were friendly & helpful. Our room was large, modern & comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best & the breakfast room has an amazing ceiling.
Excellent location next to very nice beaches and a 15 minute walk to historical center of Otranto. Great value for money if you’re planning to stay in Otranto and not planning to move around much.
It’s really close to Otranto. The room it’s quite simple but is comfortable and clean. The breakfast it’s good and the staff is friendly. It is definitely an affordable option to stay.
The best thing about this property was its excellent property manager Giuseppe. The property was perfectly located with very easy access to all things Otranto.
It offers great value.
Excellent service by the staff, very friendly and quick in the restaurant. The facilities are great and the hotel is beautiful with very well maintained gardens
